After more than a decade working in hospice and palliative care throughout Fresno and the…read moresurrounding counties, I've had the opportunity to see this community grow from having only a handful of hospice providers to now having more than 50. During that time, I've worked alongside and interacted with many different organizations, giving me a unique perspective on what truly separates an exceptional hospice from an average one. The best hospice organizations share several qualities. They educate patients and families honestly about hospice philosophy and eligibility. They employ people who genuinely love the work they do and who believe in the mission of the organization they serve. They recognize that every patient and family has unique physical, emotional, and spiritual needs, and they tailor care accordingly rather than treating people like numbers. Most importantly, they remain humble enough to listen when concerns arise, learn from feedback, and continually improve. For me, Ardent Hospice embodies those qualities. The experience and compassion of the clinical team truly stands out at Ardent. The nurses, aides, social worker, chaplain, and yes even the volunteers possess deep expertise in end-of-life care, staying current with evidence-based practice, regulatory requirements, and the ever-changing standards governing hospice care. But, what ultimately makes Ardent different isn't simply clinical excellence--it's the culture. Every patient is approached as an individual. Care decisions are based on best practices, sound clinical judgment, and the individualized goals of the patient and family. There is a genuine understanding that healthcare is, above all else, an opportunity to serve others with dignity, compassion, and respect. This community is fortunate to have options. I can say without the slightest reservation, however, that choosing Ardent Hospice is a decision you can make with confidence. The mission of providing life-changing service isn't just a slogan--it's reflected in the way each and every person cares for patients and supports its families each and every day.

When Manny was confronted with this he told his supervisor that I made it up. The supervisor Kim continued in the lie even after I shared text messages from him that demonstrated his guilt. I am sure they all participated in the lie to keep from getting sued. The person who told us about their services , Christina who works for them initially told us my dad would be able to continue seeing all his doctors and if he went on dialysis Medicare would continue to pay for his hospice services. This all turned out to be untrue. Stay away from this company at all costs.

Our experience with working with the team was really great. Our care giver Leslie was phenomenal, easy to work with, took direction well, and always when above and beyond to make sure that my dad was comfortable and cared for and that I was supported during the process by means of light house keeping and other tasks. She really helped me through this process by providing me peace of mind and he ability to take some "me" time during the 5 Weeks we used Senior Helpers. We liked that the office staff worked with us to find the right aides that dad felt comfortable with. Our only complaint was that feedback regarding scheduling wasn't always given and there were times when workers showed up that we were not sure were coming because we never received a confirmation that someone was actually coming. Overall we would recommend Senior Helpers and would highly recommend Leslie. Tulare, Ca

After an emergency room scare, the family decided that my Aunt (with signs of dementia) would need assistance to be able to stay in her home, rather than an assisted facility as the nearest relative lives 3 hours away. At first she agreed and assisted us in starting the paperwork for a local "Senior Home", and we hired Senior helpers for the time until an apartment was available. Only caring for her the first month, Alice was wonderful. She helped her with household tasks, cooked her meals, helped her with hygiene and reminded her whenever a med was due. * The evening & weekend help, was less than helpful, if they even showed up at all. Mostly no-shows with-out replacements found, and one individual that I can't name or describe without profanity and violating TOS. Steadily improving health while I was driving down every week for the 1st month or so, RAPID decline AS SOON AS I stopped driving down.(AKA as soon as they weren't being watched) * Adult protective services was mentioned MANY times in various phone calls, and eventually a case was filed against ME (I was informed at the hospital at her time of passing that her Dr had cancelled the case against me a few days earlier? What case? filed by whom?) * They had stopped asking/offering her her meds, and even placed the Med reminder and the meds out of sight in the garage and in un-used drawers. * They assisted a woman with dementia to make changes to her banking and investments so that her family could no longer monitor and protect her interests. * Still Missing : a significant amount of money and A laptop computer At time of hiring Sr helpers, her Dr had predicted 2-6 years if she ate right and took her meds.... and under their care she lasted less than 3 months. (ER stated severe dehydration and Malnutrition on top of her other ailments)

The house offered a home environment. There are two visitors allowed at a time in the room with the resident, and another two are allowed to wait in the living room areas. There is also a spacious backyard with tables and benches to rest. The volunteers also keep a stocked coffee bar and fresh baked cookies for family members. The house is so peaceful and quiet. A music therapist even came by to play guitar and sing. She sang a song in Spanish for my grandma. I was never aware that facilities like this existed and am so grateful for the compassionate care that the nurses, volunteers and music therapist provided.

There's coffee and water and cookies that never run out. There's comfortable chairs and couches. We had 3 nurses who were kind enough, gentle to an extent, and caring. I wish I got their names. However, Sue was the most appallingly abrasive, verbally abusive, insensitive nurse I've ever experienced, and I'm a nurse myself. I've never received care or witnessed care as careless and cold as Sue, and that's not even in hospice. And, in hospice, the nurses are known to be extra special, extra caring, extra soothing and gentle. Comforting, reassuring, soft. This woman will forever taint the memory of my dad's last 3 days. Fortunately, there are many positives with Hinds, and I'll try to focus on that, but Sue was so awful, it'll forever stand out in my mind. She fought us when we requested comfort meds. She downright refused sometimes. The very first time we met her, it was 3pm, nobody was sharing the room with my dad. And 4 of us were at my dying father's side. The moment she got on her shift, she started aggressively kicking us all out, in the middle of us praying and crying. It was terrifying. When I asked to speak with a doctor who had agreed to meds every 2 hours, Sue fought back and refused to give the meds until every 4 hours. This is hospice. This isn't palliative. The only goal is comfort. My father had the death rattle and she fought me hard. When she finally agreed to give him a comfort med, she dramatically crushed the med and said "you're forcing me". It was scary and appalling. There's more, but I'll leave it at that. The volunteers were so welcoming, so gentle and perceptive. The 3 other nurses who's names I can't remember were exponentially more kind, and one held and hugged me when my dad took his last breaths. The rooms themselves were comfortable. We were able to dim the lights. They offered a chaplain.
