For such a prestigious institution, the Radiology Medical Imaging group has somehow perfected the art of making the simple seem impossible. It took over an hour to schedule a routine CT scan, despite already having the order form in hand. Watching the process unfold felt less like scheduling medical imaging and more like observing a live-action training exercise in organizational dysfunction. The imaging equipment may be state-of-the-art, but the scheduling process appears to be running on a fax machine, three sticky notes, and pure guesswork. read more

My wife had her first MRI yesterday at LHR Columbus Circle location. It was the worst experience she's had, enough to swear never to have another MRI. Although she's partially deaf, the noise level was overwhelming. She almost aborted the whole thing but she gritted her teeth and saw it through to completion. The "noise protection earmuffs" provided were totally inadequate. I have had four MRI's (Weill-Cornell) and was given internal foam plugs, plus pillows around the ears to absorb more of the sound. LHR should provide similar or even more effective noise protection (earplugs are cheap). On the other hand, the support staff was very friendly and helpful throughout. Too bad that the rest of her experience was so distressful. read more

BUYER BEWARE: Every SINGLE year you go for a mammo and have certain insurance, they will try to charge you for it. This year, unfortunately, they duped me into paying $200 that my insurer later told me I did not owe because the insurer was paying. Lenox Hill refused to refund it, and hence double billed. read more

I would not come here again. I had an allergic reaction from a contrast mri for the first time and they handled it so poorly. They wanted to continue the scanning as my throat was swelling up. I'm really disappointed at what took place here today - after a second round of breast imaging I was told to wait for the Doctor to look at it - 20 minutes passed then the tech called me in and she happily said "You're ok!!!!!! You can go home ! " I practically skipped home with relief only to find out when I got home and looking online at the report that's sent to the primary doctor that it stated I need a biopsy. I was so upset. I tried to reach a manager to discuss and after bring on hold for a long time a rude person got on the phone and did not care at all what happened to me. Lenox Hill Radiology was the reason I stopped going for breast mammograms and sonograms. When I lived on the West Side I had a private doctor. About the time he retired I moved to the East Side. I was referred to Lenox and my records were transferred. First issue they ignored my records that said I needed a sonogram due to dense breast tissue. It wasn't until a couple years later a doctor at Lenox Radiology said she needed to do a biopsy after seeing my mammogram. I got a second opinion and had another mammogram. That doctor said I needed a sonogram and mammogram each check up. I was livid because if they had read my history I always had both. Jumping to the future they were building up the radiology department and it was huge. I kept my schedule for my testing and showed up one morning for my appointment and was told I had canceled it. I was furious and said that's impossible. I insisted they fit me in asap since I was already there. I had to go through an extensive check in process verifying my identity for the first time. I'm pretty sure it was after that event I just stopped going. NYU Langone is my healthcare provider now. My primary is required to ask me if I want beast exams and I tell her at my age why bother. When you get to a certain age something is bound to kill you. I do know if I need radiology of any kind I won't come here. read more

In the findings portion of the MRI of the abdomen they say there is a tumor on the right kidney, in the impressions - it's on the left kidney. But they are talking about the same tumor! In the MRI of the brain they refer to two different dates for comparison, and one of them is erroneous. If the evaluating radiologists are so sloppy, how can you be sure the medical portion of the reports is correct? And there's no way to give the feedback to the MRI department at this offfice. read more

The tech who did my Cardiac MRI was lovely and professional. However, I've been waiting over a week (8 days) for my results. I was told I would have them within one week, then the next day, and then the next day, and now they're telling me I will have results on the 11th day. Each time you call, they just tell you nonsense and empty promises to buy them more time. If my results still weren't ready on the 11th day after I got them, I wouldn't be surprised. On the phone, the first time I was told 2-5 business days, then on the next call "a radiologist was assigned" so I would have them within 24-hours and they "sent an email to expedite", then on the next call "by the morning for sure," then on the next call that there are delays so on the next business day (but it's a holiday weekend so 3 more days)... Go somewhere else if you have the option, especially if results are time-sensitive. read more

I am sure that some of the healthy patients (white, well dressed) got the service they expected from this business but it is an exception. Let us see how this business fails the diverse community of NYC: 1. Scheduling: Generally, your doctor sends a referral for radiology procedure to Lenox. After about a week, they call you to schedule an appointment, usually in a week. They will also send you several fraudulent third party links to trick you into revealing your personal information. 2. Getting authorization: Lenox, being a very exclusive and high end radiology place, demands recommendation and approval from doctors. Usually this means you have to make additional Dr appointments to get this paperwork. You have to make multiple calls to Lenox to convince them that you really need the procedure the Dr ordered. Lenox requires appointment for every procedure, even X-rays and CT without contrast. 3. After getting authorization: After getting all the paperwork and authorization, Lenox postpones your appointment, because your insurance company tells them that authorization is valid for 6-8 months. You should expect your procedure to be postponed 2-3 times. Sometimes, Lenox also demands additional info from your Dr office to verify the authorization already given by your insurance company. 4. The day before procedure: You will receive a call from one of the sweet Lenox radiology technicians. They want to make sure you don't have metal in your body. Getting a call from their technician is NOT a guarantee that you'll have the procedure next day. Lenox Hill still did not approve your procedure, even though your Dr and your Insurance company approved it. 5. The Judgment Day: You arrive at one of Lenox Hill facilities for your appointment. This is the day they'll do final decision on whether to actually do the procedure or kick you out. If you are white, healthy or well dressed, you should get your final approval easily. If you are not white or look sick or did not dress for the occasion, you will be kicked out. If this happens to you, simply leave without saying anything. Otherwise, they call Police, you will get a Desk Appearance Ticket and you have to plead guilty to a lesser offense in front of an Assistant District Attorney. Additionally, Lenox will report you to your Dr (who will promptly stop treatment, such as prescription meds, because you caused a nuisance). 6. Extension of Credit: Although your insurance company approved and Lenox Hill is in-network, Lenox will demand upfront payment. The amount again depends on your race, looks and dress. It is not uncommon for them to quote multiple amounts. Generally, they demand in cash anywhere from $150 to $1500 upfront. You will be responsible for the remaining bill after the procedure ("credit"). 7. New patients: New patients generally have an extra mandatory waiting period of 1 or 2 weeks. If you never had the same procedure at the same facility, you are a new patient. Doctors stopped enforcing extra mandatory waiting period for new patients but Lenox Hill still does, to make sure that patient is trustworthy and not making a fake Dr referral for a procedure (Their words, not mine). Apparently, some people try to get an X-ray or CT scan for recreation, like getting a tattoo. SUMMARY: As a private radiology business, that is exclusive to select patients, Lenox Hill Radiology is free to approve, postpone or deny procedure to any patient. They can also decide how much money you must pay upfront and how much you can pay later, depending on your race (They generally trust White people better, so lower upfront fees for White patients). Remember, their radiologists make final decision as to whether you need and deserve the procedure your Dr ordered. Because "private club" exemption applies to Lenox Hill Radiology, everything they do is legal. You, as a patient, should avoid Doctors that are in Lenox Hill's network. Its not possible to find out in advance if a particular Doctor is affiliated with Lenox Hill. But, as you see, it is very important to know. So, you can try to politely ask a Doctor's office right after making an appointment to see the Doctor like this: "Hello, I booked an Appointment with Dr Jimbo Jones. I live very close to Lenox Hill Radiology... Does Dr usually send referrals to Lenox Hill?" *PS* My reviews usually get flagged down. So, print it if you find it useful ----- I see that Lenox Hill is sending canned response (to all 1-star reviews) along lines of "We value feedback from our patients and are thankful..." There's a reason why many patients cross the border into Mexico to get their X-ray, CT scan etc. Radiology facilities in United States do not value or care about patients, because they get guaranteed income from state and federal agencies every month, no matter what, even if no patients at all. Absolutely terrible booking service. I spent 48 minutes on the phone the first time and still didn't get an appointment. Called again and waited another 37 minutes (yes, I'm counting), only to be offered a hip ultrasound in Long Island--when I live in Manhattan. I had complete flexibility on timing, whether now or a month from now, and this was still the best they could do. Outsourcing the call center to save costs clearly isn't working. I had an appointment for a mammogram and breast ultrasound at an upper east side location. The day before the appointment, I got a call saying that they did not have a "technologiest" available for my appointment and I'd have to reschedule. The appointment had been on the books for more than a month and it is very difficult to get a new appointment - especially when I need to do it before the end of the year for insurance purposes. I am now going to a location more than an hour from my home for these tests. Unacceptable not to have staff booked to accommodate patients with longstanding appointments. Bad service. read more

I came for my appointment on time only to be told that I had not confirmed my appointment so I actually didn't have one! Told I could instead be on a waitlist. It was totally untrue. Another patient right next to me was being told the same thing. Horrible not only to not be given my own appointment but also to be told that it was my fault. Instead of fighting to get my appointment I chose to leave (and hoped it helped the other "waitlisted" patient). I also figured I would have to wait a long time if they just squeezed me in. Only complaint was I made my appointment requesting a male tech and they didn't have any. The tech was nice and made me feel comfortable but during our procedure his colleague knocked on the door and came in and asked the tech when he wanted to take his break then he looked at me and it was invasive and unprofessional and made me feel very uncomfortable and creepy in a gown. The absolute worst customer service I've ever experienced in my life. After confirming my appointment via telephone, signing the pre-screening authorizations, and booking my time slot at 6:40AM...all for the rude receptionist to give me attitude and ask me "did they even give you a referral". Of course I got a referral, how else would I have scheduled the appointment, with your condescending rhetorical a** question. They wouldn't complete my exams because the referral was "inadequate", although my pre-screening specified which body parts were being imaged. And then for her to say "oh your doctors office probably ain't even open yet. Make it make sense. Absolute terrible customer service, rude front office staff, and incompetent scheduling people. 10/10 do not recommend. They should be looked into for fraud because why would you approve the scheduling if you're not going to do the exam? read more

They require you to complete a lengthy form online only to discover that the closest available location is 50 miles away when there are 2 locations within 1 mile of my home. I had in my hand a referral from my doctor. I called 5 Columbus Circle and got an automated message saying I could walk in for a chest X-ray. I called again and got the same message. Then I check my email box and I see a message saying the same thing. I go out of my, with my bad back pain which requires treatment, I take the subway train, and arrive at 5 Columbus Circle. Surprise, surprise, the receptionist tells me the X ray machine is not working! Why this horrible treatment for patients who could have all sorts of disabilities? Then another young woman asks me where else do I want to go for an Xray. I say E. 66 st., even though I live on the Westside. She says nothing, looks at the computer as if for the first time and prints an appointment for a location on E. 22nd st. I take out my eyes glasses and see what she wrote, the I go back to the counter and eventually, another young woman takes over and tells me I could go to a location on W. 26st. I said all right and make an appointment for anothe day, another day to waste again. Then the elevator on the ground floor where the office is located , is out of order, and I have to climb up with my bad back pain. Really, very disappointing! read more

Normally I don't have any problems when I come to Lenox Hill. Today however The Kew gardens location is sub par. I made my appointments via their service. I left my order with a desk person a week ago. I need multiple tests in different locations. The parking at Kew gardens is terrible. Then when I get in they tell me I didn't confirm my appointment fast enough so I lose my appointment time. What nonsense is this ? They offer me a 3pm appointment. I flipped out. If it is so important to confirm why aren't they calling. I confirmed via text. I never have these problems anywhere else I've gone. I have things to do. Second they told me my doctor would have results by Friday and today is Monday and still no results. I just tried to call the Lynbrook office and the phone rang 20 times and then disconnected. One of the worst experiences with a medical facility I have ever had. At mid week after an examination for an injury, my doctor/orthopedist wrote me a prescription for an MRI which he told me he was submitting as "Stat" -meaning it was urgent due to the potential seriousness of the injury. He then instructed me to make the appointment for my MRI by the next morning. I was pleased to discover that the facility (Lenox Hill Radiology) had actually contacted me by that same evening via email to inform me I could make the appointment remotely *that evening. First thing the next morning, as Lenox Hill indicated, I call the office to make an appt for a 7:30 pm MRI. It was not until 4:35 PM, that I received a phone call from Lenox Hill indicating that they "had not yet received a full authorization for my MRI and I would need to re-schedule. Knowing that my physician submitted the request a day before as urgent, I inquired why I would be receiving a call at almost 5 pm in the afternoon when the appointment was offered the night before and *made first thing that morning. I received an abrupt "I'm just seeing it now sir" and something related to my doctor not submitting it correctly. I then immediately called my doctor, whose assistant immediately informed me that the request and authorization material was absolutely submitted correctly and that, not only would she call Lenox Hill, but would call the insurance company and call me back. I also called my insurance company to inquire as to the issue. The rep looked into the issue, spoke to their authorizing agency, and indicated that they had erred and not submitted the request as "stat", but that they would try to rectify. I also spoke to my doctors office *again to confirm. By now, almost FIFTY minutes had passed. Finally, I called back Lenox Hill Radiology explained to the rep what had occurred and *I had actually asked and offered to re-schedule the appointment. The representative then asked me to hold on while she investigated, then returned several minutes later to inform me that *they actually had received the authorization and not only confirmed, but gave me the full authorization number and literally told me to go to the already scheduled appointment. By this time, I had literally exhausted approximately an hour and twenty minutes of my work time. I quickly tried to wrap what I could and went from my office in midtown, to Lenox Hill Radiology on 77th Street. I was literally on the train approximately 8 minutes away when I received a another call from Lenox Hill from an individual who proceeded to ask me WHEN I WANTED TO RE-SCHEDULE MY APPOINTMENT. I quickly explained the situation and indicated I would be there in 5 minutes. Upon arrival, I gave the receptionist my name, and appointment, and she abruptly told me I needed to re-schedule. I again explained the events of the afternoon in detail. When I had finished she asked me for the Authorization number, then said that she would inquire but didn't know if they would be able to help me because she was not sure the technician was available and then (unbelievably) added "...and your appointment was for 7:30". It was at that time 7:35. After everything that had already gone on that afternoon, none of which was my doing, I felt the comment was far past unprofessional - it was disrespectful, petty, and juvenile, and cras. Some form of regret or apology would have sufficed. The experience then progressed. The receptionist returned a short time later and curtly stated "you need to re-schedule" I asked for a manager and again explained everything that had occurred since 4:35 that afternoon. The response i received was more surreal. When I explained that the last representative I spoke to had not only verified and given me the authorization number, but *TOLD ME to go to the appointment when I was willing to re-schedule - the manager's response was that she shouldn't have done that because "you see, she's in another office, and we have all different departments, in all different offices, in different areas." Dumbfounded, I responded as politely and patiently as I could at that point that the structure she described was essentially the same structure as every company in every industry in the country; and the way they overcome this obstacle is by COMMUNICATING - whether by phone, or email, or text, etc. The manager asked to re-schedule and I informed her that I would not be returning to that facility. She also made sure to yell to me as I walked out to "have a 'wonderful night'" - the clear flippancy and snideness of the comment not being lost on me. Not only the incompetence and disregard, but the complete lack of authentic contriteness, apology, or regret were absolutely shocking - moreso because this even a regular business, BUT ONE IN HEALTHCARE IN WHICH YOU ARE DEALING WITH PATIENTS. Disgraceful. I will never return here and will inform others. read more

I was at the Lynbrook Location. The Methadone Clinic Feel you get as you enter is such a turnoff. The stale smelly air in the place is GROSS. The disrespectful manor in which I was treated by the receptionist was unnecessary but I accepted it seeing I would hate to work there as well. I had my test done at 1:00 on Monday and as of 9:00 Tuesday they STILL have not done the most important part which is get those results to my doctor. I am in so much pain. So I called. There is NO WAY to get the Lynbrook office, nor is there a way to speak to someone for what I need on their main number. This is such such reprehensible behavior by this company. I can only imagine how rich the rich people who own all of these locations are getting every day. Sad and Shameful. Shame on them, Shame on us for accepting it. read more

I can't put into words the absolutely atrocious experience I had with the CTA team on 77th; specifically Nick who is an abhorrent individual, as well as Lucy. As someone with Ehlers Danlos, I have less than ideal veins. I also am on Lovenox due to a heart condition that I had to repeatedly explain. Nick thought it appropriate to just poke as he saw fit till I said, only one more stick before I leave. In short? I left with no more sticks, and bruised black and blue. And, my test not completed. I will NEVER come back to Lenox Hill, and ensure anyone I know looking for a recommendation knows it's not anywhere to go for actual care. 0/0 stars. First visit we were told to leave because suddenly the machines were under maintenance and the techs would leave soon after they finished with people registered. RETURNED 5 DAYS LATER.... guess what? No longer taking patients at 3pm , and because techs do not want to wait! Why not open on weekends or make appointments for XRays as they do for everything else. Beware of your belongings. Don't take cash or valuables with you when you visit the Lenox Hill in Bay Ridge. They have a thief with a master key to the lockers working there. I had money stolen from my wallet while I was in the MRI room. Someone opened my locked locker and took part of my cash from my wallet. The person did not steal my phone, my ring, credit cards, debit card, and all of my cash. They only took a $20 bill (so I don't notice the theft) and left the locker door open. I am sure I locked the locker, and I tested it to make sure it is locked before I left the dressing room. Management said they didn't see anything suspicious. I felt management was indifferent about the fact that they have a thief working in the Bay Ridge office. Update: I was wrong about management being indifferent. Office manager called me today, Saturday, and told me again that she has not seen anything suspicious. I don't understand how cameras don't show someone going into the dressing room. But at least, they care about the situation. Update: I called the phone number Steve K left in his response to my review. I called two times and left VMs both times. No one has called me back, and it has been about a week since my last call. So, these responses they leave are bogus messages just to show they care. read more
