They are the absolute worst. They told me my doctor recommended a procedure and made me sign a waiver stating that I would pay IF my insurance didn't. My insurance had covered the procedure the prior year, so I believed it would be covered, so I signed. It was not covered by my insurer as "not medically necessary" and the West Side Radiology (i.e., Lenox Hill Radiology) subsequently told me that they knew it wouldn't be covered because my insurer had "stopped covering those exams". They tricked me into signing a waiver and then insisted that I pay, and sent my bill to a collection agency within two months of me requesting that they send additional info to my insurer. Will never use them again. read more

I just had a big honkin' needle shoved into my boob! Surprisingly, it wasn't nearly as uncomfortable as it sounds. Thanks to Lizette the Tech who explained exactly what was going to happen in great detail before the biopsy. And thanks to Dr. Handler who did the same, as well as asking me how I was doing at each step of the procedure. Seriously.... thank you! Because I was a ball of anxiety the night before and if no one bothered to explain the horrendous sound the biopsy needle makes in advance.... That loud stapler sound would have had me jumping off the table with a punctured lung. Who designed that thing? Was "CLACK!!!" the kind of sound you were going for with a surgical instrument? The entire staff is friendly and helpful. I mean everyone. And if they're running behind, you just might get juice and snacks! Whoo hoo! It really helps to have such friendly staff for anything as nerve racking as cancer screening. So, don't let nerves stop you ladies! Go get your boobies smashed yearly. And screw the "wait 'till 50" thing. Go get a baseline mammogram at 40. Yay Boobies! read more

Shady business practice - crooks and thieves - patients beware! DO NOT PAY UPFRONT!!!! On 2/6/2018 I've had the misfortune of being referred to the upper east side facility which took advantage of the fact that I was in pain and not in the right state of health to be pushing back. I was experiencing sharp pain and went to get 2 sonograms at New York Radiology Partners facility, located on 215 E. 95th St. NYC 10128. I was told to make an upfront payment of $278.88 "because that was my deductible" and they always apparently bill upfront. I am well aware that participating providers/facilities should not be billing me upfront but as I mentioned was not in the right mindset to argue at the time. On March 2nd I've placed a call to the facility to inquire on why I could not see the submitted claim and was told that someone will get back to me. When no one did, I called again on 3/8/2018 and managed to speak to Britney in customer service who said that the claim was paid. I placed a three way call to the insurance while having Britney from NY Radiology on the phone. the insurance rep confirmed I was not responsible for any payment at all which meant that NY Radiology Associates now owed me $278.88. Britney changed her stance and said that a refund check was actually issued to me on 3/5/2018 which really surprised me given that Britney had 25 minutes to tell me and had not (as of 4/11 I still don't have the check) - until she was on a recorded line with the insurance. The insurance rep made sure to point out that Britney and the facility were NOT supposed to be billing upfront and suggested I write to the complaint line - which I have. I have never dealt with anything so unpleasant and shady in my life. It was very obvious that the facility had no intention to refund me any money until Kathy from OXHP was involved. I pay very close attention to my medical claims and this is just one example of how this facility operated. I urge you to STAY AWAY from this radiology chain and their shady business billing practices. it's 4/11/2018 and I still have not received any refunds. I will be writing a letter to Better Business Bureau next and investigating all available options to me. I've already informed the doctor's office and they will not be making any referrals anymore. read more

The place is not bad. But they lie to you about the fees. I went there for a MRI and asked both the scheduler and the assistant to check my insurance and how much I will be paying for the test. They both told me that I only need to pay the co-pay. 2 weeks later, I got a bill for $700 and their customer service person said they don't control how much the insurance company pays and I have to handle the rest of the bill. I wouldn't have done the test if I had known it costs this much, and now I'm stuck with the bill because they really don't know how much it costs and they don't tell you that. The worst customer experience ever. My wife went in for a mammogram. Insurance information provided.. Then you we billed for the full amount.Turns out no claim was ever filed. No problem, I was told, we'll bill the insurance company. They didn't. I got a nasty dunning letter months later.More calls, more promises. There are two possible explanations: 1. They are ridiculously stupid and negligent and 2. They do that because they want the full "rack rate," not the rate negotiated with your insurance company. Either way, DO NOT USE WEST SIDE RADIOLOGY. This is ranks as one of the most unpleasant places i have to go in my life. And I have been coming here for years because this place takes my insurance. Where shall I start? Surly miserable unfriendly women are behind the desk they talk to each other while you wait and don't acknowledge you as you are standing there. Long, Long waits, no decent magazines to read. What can be so hard about making an appointment for a simple xray, mri or CT scan after your doctor writes you the script and gets approval from your insurance company....If you dont want ot find out, AVOID WEST SIDE RADIOLOGY AT ALL COSTS There are dozens of places to go in Midtown, so why go to a place with rude reception, fraudulent billing practices and SHEER INCOMPETENCE Unbelievably, this was my FOURTH horrendous experience with this location (my doctors office has an affiliation agreement with them, but has assured me they will be cutting them off due to other patient complaints. The first 3 times, I showed up after the doctor had electronically sent the prescription (that is the benefit of being an affiliate as you are set up on the same billing system) and ALL THREE TIMES, West Side Radiology had no record of it. When the doctor resent it, with me on the phone, 2 of the 3 times , they claimed to have never gotten it either Today was the icing on the cake. Knowing the past issues I had with them, I called ahead and spoke to them to confirm I was in the system, and after a frustratingly long 15 minute back and forth, they finally assured me I was. When I got there and they asked for the script, I told them my doctor has sent it electronically. 30 minutes later they called me (I assumed it was to go in, but no, they called me to the front to tell me they had no script. Thankfully, I was able to reach my doctors office, and they resent it again, and 20 minutes later, I was told there was no script. I then put my doctor on the phone, and he told them it was simply a chest X-ray, yet they refused to take his word over the phone, SINCE THERE IS NO ONE LICENSED THERE AFTER 4PM,. My doctor then re-sent the script twice, 20 minutes passed and they told me they still didnt have it (I thought i was being PUNK'd), and I walked out in frustration over the incompetence. Amazing that I have not had issues anywhere else, and this place I have had 4 separate issues with 3 different doctors writing the prescription, this place truly manages to defy all odds read more

On a positive note, the facility looks clean and modern. However, the staff were confrontational to the point of bullying me about my getting a sonogram versus a mammogram. My doctor had warned me that they don't like doing sonograms, and want people to get mammograms. But, my doctor still kindly gave me paperwork for the sonogram, and supported it. When I called to make the appointment, they told me that my script had to be more specific for a sonogram, that my doctor first wrote. So, I called my doctor who wrote me a new prescription, according to their "specifications". When I arrived at the sonogram office, the receptionists still gave me a hard time, questioning my getting a sonogram, and not getting a mammogram. Finally, things got straightened out, three receptionists later. Then, the sonogram tech was relentless in insisting that I should be getting a mammogram and not a sonogram. To the point of bullying me with interrogation, and lecturing me on the importance of mammograms. To appease her, I finally said that I was fine with leaving, and NOT getting the sonogram. It seemed like my only option, and to get her to stop questioning me. My saying that I was fine leaving, made her panic. She told me to stay, and that she'd talk with the radiologist. She returned, and said the radiologist gave the go ahead. But, she continued to treat me rudely, like I had no business getting a sonogram. Then, she left me for 15+ minutes on the exam table in the dark covered in excess goo, while she went to talk with the radiologist again. She returned and told me to get dressed. The whole time it felt like she was trying to punish me for getting a sonogram, and not a mammogram. I'm going to look elsewhere in the future. read more

Update 1 - someone from the main office at least reaches out to apologize. Tl;Dr? Summary: -Main scheduling line good -59th street reception? Horrible. Faxed in correct prescription three days prior to exam only to be turned away morning of with the excuse that they don't have prescription. Weird since I have email confirmation re fax. -receptionists at 59th are combative, rude, cuss at you (saying "God") while you're still on the phone without remembering to mute themselves... Thanks! Can still hear you. They also leave you on hold without telling the next receptionist... -asking the receptionists at 59th to confirm an appt or the right script is like fighting a lawsuit... Go through at least two people, field off lies that the patient is downstairs... (nope! Not true) to finally get someone to confirm. One star for the effort of someone calling to look into it. Hopefully, it was not just to use the excuse that they "never had such trouble with this office" when the reviews here clearly show otherwise. To be updated if next appt actually goes as scheduled now that two different people confirmed the appt and the prescription. read more

I am so confused by the reviews because I had the best first time experience. The reception staff received me quickly and courteously. Jesse, my MRI technician, welcomed me into the changing area and radiology room and she swiftly executed the MRI of the breasts. Everyone that welcomed me was kind and thorough. The office itself is state of the art, brand new and super clean clean. I have no complaints. The office is conveniently located on the west side of Midtown easily accessible by trains and buses. I will definitely come back to this office for future MRIs instead of the Dubin breast center of town which is a harder commute for me. read more

A few months ago I was referred to this location and I had to wait over an hour for an ultra sound even though it was an emergency of sorts. There wasn't any mgmt presence or someone in charge. Just your typical cackling admin assts/clerks who were more concerned about talking nail polish than caring for the two people in the waiting room, myself included. So I agree with the one star ratings here. They are 100% on the money. Oh, did I mention that one of these bozos was supposed to have called me yesterday, or today, for an urgent MRI quote/appt, and haven't? I've been to their office several times. nice clean and friendly place. Last time was greeted by Courtney who handled me very courteously and timely. I do like that you can ask for a copy of the scan at the time of the visit and walk out with at cd. Extremely convenient, no extra charge for the service. I was directed to a different MRI provider for my last set of scans and was told they could mail me the scans in 2 weeks at a cost of $25. I was taken timely, clean changing rooms, and kind technicians. I certainly reccomend this place highly!! read more

I had an appointment on Friday at 7:15 am following the appointment confirmation email received on Wednesday. Arriving on time, I was told that a technician is not available and they tried to call me numerous times on Wednesday. No phone calls were received at all and no messages were left. I was surprised that they would not inform me whether the technician doing my mammogram was vaccinated for covid, or offer a vaccinated technician for my procedure. Mammograms are pretty close contact. This facility has been my go-to place for mammograms for the last five years. I never had a billing issue before now. My health insurance policy like ALL health insurance policies covers the procedure except this time I was asked for a $65 co-pay. Whatever. I paid it. The staff verified I was insured before my visit. Well, six months later I am hit with a HUGE bill for my mammogram at 100% the cost. I am insured, and I called my insurance company a billion times to verify, and they said they paid my claim. So I called the lab a gazillion times telling them the claim was paid and to stop billing me. It's a FUCKING NIGHTMARE. I am calling every news outlet I can find, and I am also contacting the district attorney's office. They are trying to bill me for a service that they charged my insurance company for already. Talk about FRAUD. read more

If there is a minus 5 stars I would put that instead. West Side Radiology by Columbus Circle coded my mammograms wrong and tried to charge me for services that were supposed to be cover by my insurance. They refused to recode the mammograms and my insurance could not do anything to make them recode, so to avoid their incessant bills, I paid the balance in full in April 2020. Now I am receiving calls from collectors trying to collect the same fees that I have already paid. Do not go to them, there are plenty other places you could go to in the city. read more

Very nice clean place but be very careful because I was charged $250 for a Digital Breast Tomosynthesis. I called and scheduled a mammogram appointment and now I being held responsible for the digital breast exam that I didn't need or asked for. So I called customer service and was told they would adjust the rate since my insurance won't pay for it whether I asked for the examination or not I'm being held responsible. Last year I had a similar experience they billed the facility and not the tech person. They wanted me to pay the technician out of my pocket. I spoke to my insurance asked Westside Radiology Associates to rebill my insurance and it was paid after 3 months of back and forth with my insurance and Westside Radiology Associates. read more

I had used West Side Radiology for many years and has ok with them. But they have merged and moved and become New York Radiology. Just awful experience there. I arrived at 11AM for an 11AM mammogram and by 1:30PM I had had enough waiting. (After asking several times when I would be taken and they said shortly). After I told them i was leaving, they suddenly found a room available. Though the tech was very nice, the room was dirty. And I can't get my results on their website, though they said I could. Zero stars should be an option on yelp. This place runs very late. They run about an hour and a half late. They do take you in promptly and have you change into a gown but then you have to wait. And wait. And wait. The facilities look a bit rundown. The front desk staff is very friendly but I recommend you look for another place for exams. The technician was amazing and very thorough and professional. It's the wait time that sucks. read more

I'm kind of surprised by some of the reviews. I was sent to this place for an emergency scan....on a Friday....midday. So I expected to wait forever and planned to read a whole book while I waited. I arrived, was greeted by a very nice lady, waited maybe 10 mins and was taken in! They gave me a dressing room with a locker that had a key which is great b/c not a lot of places offer this and your stuff just kinda hangs in the room unattended. I had the scan with a very nice lady that made me feel comfortable and reassured me that all will be ok. read more

Terrible... I went in for follow-up car after being hit by a car. The extremely rude and incompetent receptionists could not figure out where I was supposed to go for my appointment and sent me limping back and forth across the facility at least 4 times before I had to beg them to use the phone to figure out where I was supposed to go for my X-ray. The receptionist refused to accept my no-fault insurance even though I had all of the policy information and billed my private health insurance instead, resulting in a $117 co-pay. West Side was paid for services first by me and my private insurance, and then later submitted the same bill to the car insurance company, and were paid again... I tried to straighten it out, but with their Manhattan offices, all billing questions go straight to a call center in Bangladesh. The doctors, techs, etc are all competent -- but the battleaxes guarding the front desk are just too much to handle... I quickly switched to a different medical group. read more

Face it, no one wants to have medical testing, but sometimes it is necessary. Having unfortunately been to several different radiology facilities in recent months, West Side Radiology was the best on the phone with scheduling and rescheduling, 5 stars for speed, efficiency and no waiting, you get to a person promptly! The office is in an older building and the hallway reflects the wear. The reception area is nice, the check-in person was pleasant. I was early and seen on-time. The changing area is very cramped. Gowns were the standard, miserable ones. The technician was a little abrupt at the beginning, but we worked it out and everything was fine at the end. Btw, warming the gel was appreciated! By far the cleanest toilet facilities I've seen in any radiology/health-care office, 4.5 stars, someone obviously keeps it clean regularly throughout the day. read more

My insurance asked me to go to this one to save money, but it was creepy and the entrance is strange . It felt shady but I needed to get a cat scan. The individual preforming my procedure did not give me a guard to protect my ovaries for a cat scan on my chest. I had to ask for it. It felt strange and I decided not to go back for any future procedures. Fast forward to July: I haven't received a bill so I assume its all covered by my insurance, but I get a call that my bill is late. I pay it right away online. The next day they call again, and say I didn't pay. I check online and it says they charged my credit card twice the day before. I try calling them but they don't pick up; so I call my credit card company and dispute the second charge. I make it clear that it is not a dispute of the first. I get reimbursed for the second and as I asked not the first. So they had received payment for the bill, I just didn't let them over charge me. A month later, I get a voicemail on the phone from a credit collection agency. It takes me a while to figure out what i could have a credit collection agency about and assume its a scam, but then check my credit score. I call the West SIde radiology group, and they confirm they sent it to collections. The individual I spoke to was rude and condescending. Obviously I'm upset that they double charged me orginally and then sent it to collections without even a warning; they made numerous mistakes. He said he sent a check a few days ago so in the end he claimed no payment was made because I was double-reimbursed, well no check was recieved or cashed. So that makes no sense. Then he said it was reimbursed twice by the credit card company. I check and it was only reimbursed once. I call the credit collection and tell him this is a mistake, I email the supervisor. I'm waiting for a response. I don't have time for this disorganization and I highly suggest that unless you want a headache, you steer clear, and get a different referral. From now on I'm checking reviews of the places that I go. This place is everything wrong with medicine in America: it's a capitalistic grab for money regardless of the fact that they are wrong. When you're in the middle of an already stressful situation, few people have the time to deal with this sort of mess, so they probably get away with double charging people all the time. I just got a bill demanding $180 for a service from 2016 that was not supposed to cost me anything. In fact, by law, it wasn't supposed to cost anything. I won't go there again. I already felt that way after dealing with one of their doctors, who was such a jerk I went for a followup at Sloan Kettering instead. I was fine. I've been going to Westside for over 25 years now. I am a breast cancer survivor. Here is what patients don't understand when it comes to wait times. When you get a mamo, if the radiologist feels it needs further study you have to take more films. Or if they didn't get a clear enough picture because of density of the breasts they have to take more films. My point is when you go for your mamo, you should be thankful of the wait time. It indicates that they are doing their job. When I go, I know that I'm looking at 2 hours minimum and that is if other patients are lucky enough to be going in and out. My exams on occasion take a bit longer because of the density of my breasts, which very well can back things up. I want them to be thorough, so I have no problem waiting. read more

They didn't leave a marker so when I had my surgery, the surgeon had to start all over. No one prepared me for anything for the sterotactic biopsy. I had a reaction/panic attack from the EPI and the nurse goes "People die from this". Oh thanks. read more

I will never schedule an appointment here again. I am a compliant patient; I arrived 30 minutes early in order to complete the inevitable paperwork. I tried not to mind when the receptionist kept calling me "dear," although my name was right in front of her. After all, I am old and aren't old ladies supposed to be called "dear?" At that time, she also told me that there would be a long wait for the 3D imaging I had scheduled; would I rather have the usual imaging? I said yes, as I couldn't spend the day waiting. When I was called from the FIRST waiting room to sit in the SECOND waiting room 25 minutes after my scheduled appointment, I was told to strip to the waist, put on a smock, and take my belongings with me to wait. The lockers (I have NEVER been asked to carry my belongings with me to a breast exam) were filled with smocks. No room for patients' belongings. Moreover, there were NOT ENOUGH CHAIRS for everyone who was waiting to be seen. An hour after my appt. time had come and gone, I asked those patients (a perfect word to describe us!) sitting nearby what times their appts were. Several of them had been sitting even longer than I had. There were no explanations or apologies forthcoming from the staff. When I was finally called in for my exam (10 minutes), it was 2 hours and 5 minutes after my arrival and 1 hour and 50 minutes after my appointment time. A mammogram is an experience that causes anxiety in many patients. Waiting to be seen should not add to that anxiety. This was a horrendous experience. read more

With questionable customer service, their billing staff are rabid. No interest in customer service or ethical business practices. What exactly is the point of an appointment if I have to wait like a "walk in"? To make matters worst the 3 reservationists at the front were engaged in a personal convo. Mind u the place is quiet (the only Pro about this place) so everyone could hear EVERYTHING! One lady in particular with natural curly black hair & gray streaks in front was snobby. Oh I'm sorry I am bothering u by making u do ur job & answering a single question -__- She has all the attitude of a child who has been scolded by her parent. Have some professionalism! I was there for over 3-1/2 hours today. I was left waiting after two sets of mammograms for over 30 minutes each for the radiologist report before moving onto an ultrasound. Had to wait a good 45 minutes for the ultrasound. For someone with a history of cancer, this is like having needles stuck under your fingernails. Growing anxiety. Out of frustration I finally went into the back - erm no patients please - and found all of the exam rooms empty and the technicians and office staff just hanging out talking in an office. I demanded to see the radiologist. Then the ultrasound tech was so defensive. It was torture. And it's not the first time it's happened. Once they left me sitting there for two hours. They said, "oh, I'm sorry we forgot about you." They do good films and imaging, but the management of the facility is atrocious. Really bad. read more

One of the technicians was very rude and brusk in her manner - when gathering my history she was rude and insensitive. I told her I didn't want her to do my sono as a result. She was also clearly sick, coughing and sniffling - she should not have been at work. When I asked for my sono referral back so I could go elsewhere, they offered up another technician to do the scan. I accepted this offer. Although the second technician was pleasant the scan was very quick. I was surprised they got what they needed. Even my doctor noted (without my prompting) that the results were not thorough, so not helpful to him, so as a result I need to go for another scan. I'm going back to my usual center on the east side, instead of this place on the west side close to my home. I wouldn't recommend West Side Radiology (floor 6C). I left a comment card with this feedback as well as my name and number, I will update if I get a response. read more

Waiting, waiting,waiting to be called for a fairly routine chest X-ray. There appear to be more receptionists than radiologists. Don't be fooled by appearances, the neat,modern look of the reception area hides the lack of efficiency. The staff seem to be weighed down by the chip they seem to be carrying on their shoulders. read more
