Sherrod has amazing customer service. He was welcoming, very helpful and knowledgeable. He showed me eyeglass options that would fit my face and even some I didn't think would look good on me, but did! He didn't hover over me, he just let me look and try on as I wanted. He even fixed my old eyeglasses and cleaned them. So I ended up getting 2 glasses today with the buy one give one half off deal. I am very happy and had fun shopping for eyeglasses today. I've been trying to get contacts there since the end of November. Dr Toyota is super nice and she's very thorough. I've been wearing contacts for 40 years and have a difficult prescription, and she's been very patient and professional. The staff however is not. Uilani, the assistant manager is awful. Every time I have to deal with her I end up screaming. She's a despot. Disrespectful and belligerent. She tries to boss custom around like we were her employees. I made an appointment online, which I called to confirm because their online system is terrible and they always screw up. Uilani confirmed my appointment only to cancel it less than an hour before the appointment. I was driving from Ko'olina and already halfway there. I had to rearrange my schedule and take the time to go only to get a call at the last minute. She didn't apologize and blamed it on the online system. I told her I called the store to confirm it, and she was the one who confirmed it. Instead of apologizing and try to make it up somehow, she acted annoyed and gave me an appointment three weeks out. I was furious because I was out of lenses and I wanted to use my HSA to buy them before the end of the year. She didn't care. The day of the appointment there was a wreck on the H1 and my wife was 10 minutes late for her appointment. We called while stuck I. Traffic and she just said sorry but you're going to have to reschedule. We reminded her that she's the one who rescheduled us after screwing up our appointments, but she didn't care. Every time my wife or my mother in law has to talk to her they end up angry and screaming. I was not the exception. After getting my trials fitted by Dr Toyota, I was supposed to wait at least one day before ordering my contacts to make sure they fit well and the power was ok while reading. After a few days I called to order the contacts and Uilani answered the phone. She started arguing that she couldn't order my lenses because I didn't gave my trial yet. I told her Dr. Toyota had ordered me a trial for toric lenses so I could use them while golfing, but the other lenses where supposed to be for everyday use and I needed to order them. I could hardly get a word in as she kept interrupting me and talking over me, I raised my bounce and told her to order the lenses and she got upset and told me I was being rude. I told her that my experience dealing with her had been awful and I was tired of arguing with her and to just order my lenses, and she said I could order my lenses from somewhere else and hung up the phone. Of course I need my prescription, so I called back but she wouldn't answer. I spoke to a different person in the store side who took my info. I asked when they would send my prescription and I could hear her talking in the background saying whenever I have the time... so I told the guy I was on my way to get it in person. I drove from Ko'olins to Kaneohe to get my prescription so I could get them ordered this year. When I got there Dr Toyota gave me my prescription and was very apologetic. I let her know that finding a new doctor is something I don't like to do, and I tried to avoid it at all costs, but because of her assistant manager, I will be looking for another doctor, as well as my wife and mother in law. She lost thousands in business and three patients, all because of a person that has no business being in customer service. Save yourself the agony. Go somewhere else. As great as Dr Toyota is, I just cannot take her staff anymore. I ordered my contacts from 1800 contacts and they'll be here tomorrow... no drama, super fast, cheaper... and best of all... I don't have to deal with Uilani. read more

I am a very impulsive person and I had decided on a Sunday that I wanted my eyes to be checked. I googled places nearby to me and to my surprise LensCrafters in Windward Mall was open and available for an appointment that same day! I walked in pretty much knowing what I wanted. I was instantly greeted and given forms to fill out since I was a new patient. While I waited for my turn I browsed the frame selection. Bill offered me great insight on the promotions going on and my insurance benefit. I chose a regular eyeglass frame as well as a sunglass frame. I was given an estimate after my insurance was deducted right then and there! I wasn't aware that my insurance offered buy one get one 50% off which worked out great! I liked going into my exam already having an idea of what cost I was looking at afterwards. I saw Dr. Kathy Iida. The receptionist who was also the technician (don't remember her name:/) was great. Dr. Iida was thorough with her exam and recommended great products for my dry eye as well as info regarding my vision change. After my exam I headed back up front to confirm my frame choices. Thank you to Bill again for letting me know of the different coating options available but respecting my choice in what I wanted. I didn't feel at all pressured into purchasing anything like most places make you feel. My eyeglasses came in the very next day! Again, big plus since I'm so impatient and like things right then and there. My sunglasses followed about 2 days after. Sharrod assisted me in adjusting and fine tuning my frames when I came for pick up and made sure I was happy with them before leaving. Side note, he said hi to me in a store and called me by my name after only meeting twice! I always go to this location because they always know how to adjust my sunglasses and prescription glasses well. Firstly, I'm not a LensCrafter customer, but I was looking to repair my glasses that had just broke and Katelyn (I'm not sure the exact spelling) immediately and so kindly helped me. She went above and beyond; she not only put it back together, but also replaced a missing screw I was unaware of and in general restored it to a like-new condition. Overall, it was easily one of the best customer service interactions I've had the pleasure of experiencing; I would highly recommend this store to anyone looking for anything glasses related simply based off their wonderful employees and service! read more

I called ahead of time asking for a glasses repair (have never been a customer with this location). They welcomed me and got to work quick assessing the situation. Mr. Bill did his best with multiple sized screws, my bad luck they didnt have the right one, (again, was never a customer, so these glasses are not LensCrafters). He put a screw of the correct color and with a better fit than before but the effort was what chose me to give the 5 stars. Would recommend for their customer service and care. read more

Had one of the best experiences in a long time at the LensCrafters in Windward Mall. I talked with 4 people in the store, including Dr. Iida. All of these people were unbelievably helpful, friendly and personable. It was genuine too. They walked me through the whole eye exam, explained everything and answered all my questions with knowledge & humor. They helped me pick out frames and never tried to push or "up sell" me on more expensive frames or lens upgrades. Saleswoman was personable & we talked story about mutual interests for a few minutes. She even adjusted my old frames I bought elsewhere for free. After the sale she actually re-rang me up with a $50 discount for "being such a nice guy". I don't know if that's a standard sales gimmick, but it worked on me! I highly recommend this store to anyone & everyone in need of eye care!!! 7 December 2020 We've used this place, located In the Kaneohe Mall, for everything from eye glasses, to contacts to eye exams and even eye glass repairs and they always do a great job at a very reasonable price. The staff are extremely helpful and with no pressure. I can't see how you could do any better and if you have to wait, you can always visit the many shops in the mall! I called to set up an eye exam and the receptionist was nice in the beginning but became very rude at the end of our conversation. As I was trying to ask a question, she cut me off and told me "let me finish". Which to me was very rude. I've been working in customer service for over 10 years and never did I ever say that to a customer. Or have I ever been told that from someone too. She should have politely let me finish or if she needed to cut me off she could have said "pardon me" or "I understand". That was a big turn off from me so I decided to call Windward vision and they were SO kind to me from the beginning to the end of our conversation. First of all, see John, his customer service is superb and was very friendly. My wife came in on Tuesday for a contact fitting and to get the lenses replaced in her glasses. While I was waiting, John adjusted my glasses (which were digging into nose) for no charge. Then, when my wife came out, he took her through the process of finding her in the system and selecting the right lenses. This review is about the optometrist Dr. Kathy Iida and not so much about the store itself. Am I supposed to create a page for her? Oh well, here goes: I've been coming to see Dr. Iida for years and I love seeing her! Not only is she quick witted and funny, she works fast and knows what she's doing. I didn't have my insurance card with me, but she just looked up my information in the system and took care of it for me. She had me out of there within 30 minutes including me filling out a form to update my address. Oh yea, and I can now see a lot better. Gotta stop Yelping to help my eyes rest! If ANYONE asks me for an optometrist, I always recommend Dr. Iida at the Windward Mall LensCrafters. read more

First let me say that my experience with the optometrist and her assistant(?) in the back of the store was wonderful. Both of them were very friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, fun and yet very professional. While the people in the front of the store weren't anywhere near as friendly, they were still professional, and I really only had issues with one woman there who I would simply describe as a bit snooty. The three times I dealt with her, her demeanor never changed. My main issue is with the quality of the work. I've been wearing contacts for 20 years and I've decided I just want glasses for a while, so my intent was to get a pair of regular glasses and a pair of prescription sunglasses. I picked out frames and details for both (coating, polarization etc). I was told both could be done on island but they'd take a few days. A few days later I got a call telling me that both pair of glasses are in. I went to pick them up only to find out that the sunglasses can't be done on island and it will be at least another week for them to come from the mainland. Ok. The glasses I was able to pick up are good, I like them. A little over a week later the sunglasses came in. I picked them up and used them over the next week or so. The problem is that when I have the glasses on my face as I normally wear them, where I look through the lens, they're out of focus. I have to physically lift them up so I'm looking through the very bottom part of the lens before anything is in focus. (It took me a few days to convince myself that it's not me, it's the glasses. There is no other way to wear them). So I brought them back and explained the problem. We ran through a couple of procedures, the woman helping me drew on the lenses with a marker, used a ruler to mark out distances, and entered data about the changes into the computer. She wouldn't answer questions about whether or not this is a common issue. Also, these are not bifocal lenses and I was trying to understand why the upper portion was significantly different than the lower portion. She couldn't really help. Come forward two weeks to yesterday when I get a call telling me they're in. Yeah! I go to pick them up. The guy helping me remarked how long these have taken, so I explained the issue. He hands me the glasses, I put them on and instantly see they're the same lenses. Nothing has changed. I have to physically lift them to look through the bottom of the lenses to get anything in focus. I tell him. He has no reaction. None. I asked, 'they've had these for two weeks, did they even do anything to them'? He said, 'well, they wrote up a new receipt'. So I said, 'I can't use these, I'll just take a refund and find someone who can make the glasses'. The rest of my visit went pretty much without words. No apology (I know it wasn't this guy's fault, but it is the company's screw up). No, can we try to make it up to you. No excuse or reason, nothing. He acted like this was a common occurrence. It was then I realized I didn't get an apology the first round either. 1 month, two attempts, both failures. They got 1/3 (33%) right. That's a 2/3 failure rate - pretty bad. I understand that living here means sometimes things take longer, but they should have gotten it right the first time. Failing that, there's no excuse for still getting it wrong the second time. They've made no attempt to keep me as a customer. I guess they don't have to worry about that. I won't be again. read more

I had a horrible experience recently with Kaneohe Lens Crafter, and I decided to share it, in hopes that I can save someone from the stress and frustration that I experienced. I work in town, but live on the Windward side, so one weekend I decided to get new prescription sunglasses, since my vision had changed slightly. I went to Windward Mall with my boyfriend and stopped by Lens Crafter to take a look. I already had some frames with me, as I learned that Lens Crafter can make almost any pair of frames prescription, and I was hoping to save a few $$. First of all, I had a lengthy weight time before the employee was able to assist me, since she was the only one in the store at the time, and she was already assisting a customer. When it was my turn, she was not very friendly, and only spoke to ask me questions about my order. She did not offer me the various add-ons or protective coatings for the lens. For just my lenses and 1 year protection plan it cost me $200, which is already kind of high. Three days later, when my frames were ready, I picked them up, but though they looked great at night, when I wore them in day light, I was shocked that I was blinded by the sunlight, and the glare on my windshield almost caused an accident. They have a satisfaction guarantee, so I brought the glasses back and asked if I could exchange the lenses for polarized lenses and pay the difference. The red headed employee who "assisted" me got a huge attitude and lectured me about how I should have gotten the lenses polarized from the start. She begrudgingly sat me down and wrote up an invoice, not looking at me at all, and not talking at all, except to ask me what color lens I wanted (brown or grey). I wasn't sure which one was better, and when I asked her opinion she didn't offer me any advice, so I chose the brown one. She charged me another $120 and I left the store feeling like crap. Another 3-4 days later, I picked up the glasses after work (ie: at night) and though they looked ok in the store, the next day when I wore them, they were not dark enough, and I could barely see while driving. After spending $300 on lenses and still not liking the result, I got smart and took them to the Lens Crafters at Ala Moana, which is closer to my work place. The Ala Moana employee was very friendly, and offered me the anti-glare coating, and was shocked none of the other employees offered me that option the other two times. She also offered me other options and found out that the previous employee who "assisted" me didn't give me the proper discount, so my anti-glare coating ended up costing me only $20 instead of the $70 it would have otherwise. This great employee also recommended the grey lenses since they block out more sun. Overall, I would NEVER go back to Kaneohe Lens Crafters again. read more

I went to the LensCrafters store in Kaneohe today to inquire about lenses. I'm a Humana PPO (HumanChoice) member and brought a schedule of benefits to the store. According to the Humana plan, the lenses should cost roughly $200 after the discounts. Instead, the salesperson says he will look at my plan discount v. the "sale price." He comes up with with $471 for the lenses, or $271 more than the Humana discount. I'm shocked! When I point out the difference, he tells me he can only go by what the computers shows. When I tell him that Costco can make the same lenses for for $175, he comes up with "we don't have the same basic products as in your Human plan -- we only carry premium products." Really? Then he tells me that Costco's products are inferior. Again, really? I will be reporting this to the BBB, Humana and the LensCrafters corporate office. I don't know if the other LensCrafter locations are more honest or forthright than this location. read more

I have been a customer of LensCraftes since I got my first prescription about 15 years now. By and large, this company takes care of its customers. I have had to get repairs and adjustments done on my numerous pairs of glasses at various locations including California, Alaska and Nevada. Here locally, I have been to the Ala Moana location, Kahala and the Queen Kaahumanu location on Hawai'i Island. I really appreciate the fact that I can walk into any store and will be assisted. I want to commend the Windward Mall Store for their continued great service, in particular to the new Sales Associate who assisted me in the selection and adjustment of 2 pairs of glasses. Although she mentioned that she was a newbie and still getting used to the store's procedures, her positive and courteous demeanor was what made the difference in my eyewear shopping experience. Upon picking up my glasses the following week, I again experienced great service. I did not have to wait long and the same Associate was there to assist me with the final adjustments. When I was finished, she thanked me and I left a happy and satisfied customer! This store gets really busy and I did see that they also try to accommodate non customers who walk in with questions and eyewear issues and in many cases, they are not charged for it. This to me speaks volumes as this kind of service today is far and few. read more

Getting my glasses involved three separate trips into the store; one to pick out glasses, two to unsuccessfully verify my insurance benefits (which I had previously given over the phone, and three to (finally) pick up my glasses. Maybe being new to the island made this task that much more difficult, but I didn't feel supported by the staff, as a whole. read more

Dr. Kathy Iida and her staff are amazing - like Cory M I'm not sure if I should start a new page for her - maybe I will after this review. My husband and I used to see her when we lived in Hawaii. She's patient, friendly, and a wonderful optometrist! She's very knowledgeable about glasses vs. contacts, is a people person, and never seems to have a bad day. This one brown haired woman I have interacted with a few times is completely snooty and rude. She acted like she wanted nothing to do with me and could care less about my business. I went into that store twice with the intent to spent well over $300 dollars each time, but I guess that didn't matter. Another man I have spoken with in the front was also very cold. Have had my eye exams here without difficulty for the last three years. Today I showed up at opening for my 10 am appt. The assistant promptly updated my info and performed her part of the exam. At 1050 I was still waiting for the doctor to show up. At that point I was told that she went to the wrong office. It was suggested that I go for an "early lunch" then return for the rest of my exam. No thank you, my time is valuable also and my day was planned around a 10:00 appointment. Time to find a new eye doctor. read more

Had excellent experience. Beyond compare. Elisa at eye doctor desk efficient and kind and got me in right away. Dr. Iida knowledgeable, friendly and unbelievably good at explaining things to my eye-ignorant self. She really listened. John in eyeglass section extremely well-informed on the ins and outs of my complicated polarized, progressive lenses with astigmatism and transitions and anti-glare! Also gave good advice helping me with style and fit, and had a killer sense of humor. He found the perfect look for my face, and I am not easy to please. Kayla, also in eye glasses section, was also great--helpful and knew her stuff. How did they get so many winners under one roof! They had a wide range of brands, from thrifty to Armani/Ralph Lauren/Dolce and Gabana, and the frames were cheaper when compared to my private doc. LensCrafters knew what my insurance coverage was and the best way to run the charges to get me the lowest price. THANK YOU! My son went in for annual eye exam and needed to update his glasses prescription. He wanted to try contacts so I paid extra $90 for contact lens fitting, which included 4 sessions. He was not able to do it in 2 sessions so I scheduled him for his 3rd. We arrived on time at 2 and while waiting at the desk to be acknowledged the receptionist tells us it will be a few more minutes. 30 minutes later I go back to the desk, knowing that they close at 3. I ask the receptionist if they will be able to see him and she plainly says "no, I don't think so". So.... what do I do now? Do I reschedule? She tells me "if you want to". When I tell her that he had an appointment, her response was "so did everyone else." Very lacking in customer service. I paid for the sessions, yet because they over booked their appointments they were not able to accommodate him. Instead of apologizing and asking if we could reschedule she basically tells me too bad. Terrible front office help. Ruins the whole experience and overshadowed any thing good that the other staff was able to do. read more

Took my recent purchase from sunglasses hut for nose pads. Went to pick sunglasses up a few hours later. While wearing sunglasses I got headaches. I noticed that nose pads were drilled in uneven. I went back was told that it's good the pads are adjusted even and within diagram range and when I drop my sunglasses off it " at me risk." Really I was not informed of this and I didn't sign a waiver. Spoke to manger, pretty much same story. But he asked if I ever wore sunglasses before?! Wtf. And if I ever wore polarized ones before! So all in all they "adjusted" my new designer sunglasses with the uneven drilled nose pads. I will never return here and will be sure share this experience with others. read more

Went in tonight hoping for a repair to my nose pads and screw tightening, but had no idea if they would do it or how much it would cost. Half expected sub-par customer service, lots of "mm, no, we cant do that"s...typical retail service. Nope! The guys in there immediately helped me, we chatted up, and voila! Glasses were fixed. The best part? No charge. Just a request to donate to their charity arm, OneSight (www.onesight.org), which provides needed eyewear in Africa and other places around the world. I was impressed and it was refreshing to work with these guys who really wanted nothing more than to help their customers! Mahalo nui! Will refer my family and friends to you guys!! read more
