BEWARE!! My kapuna mom has been going to this store for years with no complaint until recently. Typically, she goes in every year with her old frames (that she really liked) and has new lenses put in. This year when she picked up her glasses, they were the correct lenses but in a different/new frame. When she brought it to their attention, they said it was the same frame even though they were clearly not. They made her feel like she had no recourse and is now stuck with glasses she doesn't like. read more

It was a big mistake of their part, I ordered glasses that are suppose to become sun glasses when you are exposed to the sun. They forgot to do that and they charged me for the process. When I went into the store to complain, they told me they would call the lab to correct the problem. I got a call back the next day, telling me it was my problem and not their problem. So, they refused to fix my glasses and they refused to reimburse me the cost for the procedure to make the glasses turn into sunglasses. Not good business practice. My sunglasses needed some part replacments. Called them this morning, explained the problem and was told to come in to the store. I did and met Stacey who I had spoken with on the phone. Stacey found the needed parts, replaced them, cleaned everything with no charge! Stacey who was super nice made my sunglasses look brand new. read more

FYI: If you make an appointment at Windward Vision Center, they will pull your insurance before you even go to your appointment. Unfortunately, when you cancel, they don't let the insurance company know so I just had to go through the hassle of calling the insurance company up and getting the appointment removed. Now, I have to wait to get reimbursed for the appointment I just paid out of pocket for this bad policy. Spoke with another doctor's office. This is not typical. When I asked Windward Vision about this, the response was, "Well, we have a lot of patients and it makes things easier." Easier for them and not you. read more

Dr Stuart Machida has always been amazing in his care, knowledge, patience, determination, and thoroughness. He takes the time to explain everything. This gives me the understanding necessary to follow through with required treatments and note any regression or progress. He has so thoroughly examined my 103 yr old mother that he has discovered problems that a year of appointments with an ophthalmologist failed to uncover and therefore failed to properly treat, prevent further damage, and/or resolve. There are a number of problems in trying to examine the elderly. The ophthalmologists have made superficial attempts to examine my Mom with their instruments because she simply is too bent and frail to "fit" their machines. However, Dr Machida did not give up, and because of his firm determination, he was successful in doing a very thorough examination within understandable limits due to my mother's physical limitations. He truly is an amazing human being and doctor. His staff, through the years have been exceptional in their service to us. So I've been coming to this place for years and for the most part been fairly decent with service. Long waits but that's normal with any appointments you go too. My most recent experience was just a huge headache. And the customer service and attitude was just crappy. My appt was the ending of August and today 9/18 I called to see if my glasses came in the girl stated "oh sorry we we're supposed to call you" on the 10th. Then she said I had a pay charge because the lady who originally helped my forgot about that. Oh we're sorry again. Idk they just wasted my time and I'm never going back read more

This is a no brain-er. I work 5 days a week; a lot of times 6. Most eye doctors are open 5, maybe 6. I can get an appointment on a Saturday with my doctor Dr. Kari Chang-Moses (sweetest, gentlest person you'll ever meet) , and (the best part) I can pick up my glasses late Saturday night or even on a Sunday! I love this especially because I know that Devin and the other staff (sorry I can't really your names right now!) will take great care of me. And they are all so experienced and skilled at what they do they can take care of adjustments no problem. They were even so kind as to help my boyfriend with adjusting his glasses! His normal doctor of course works when he works so he lived with maladjusted glasses for months before he finally gave in a went with me to Windward Vision. Lickity split his quality of life raised by finally not having to fuss with his glasses. We were so pleased. I cannot say enough about the service here through and through. But let me mention the wonderful glasses I picked up during my last visit. Plastic frames are in and I have always been a fan, owning many turtle-shell designs, however plastic usually doesn't have enough of a nose piece for my flat Asian nose. Thus over time I have slowly converted to wire frames as they have extendable nose pieces. I personally don't really like the idea of extensions on plastic frames because I feel they are not as durable being an after-market part. But at Windward Vision I learned about a wonderful designer who is making plastic framed glasses with extra plastic to fit the Asian noses without! It fit like a glove and holds the glasses at the perfect position without all of the pushing a fuss. Now maybe I'm behind the times but this was a game changer for me and I am absolutely in love with this designers style. I have already decided I'll be back again for more of these frames! My family and I have seeing Drs Matsuda and Machida for eyewear products since 1992. Both doctors are excellent and the staff is very good. Five of the six of us have been getting contacts and eyeglasses from Windward Vision Center at Windward Mall and have been very satisfied with the service. Once in a while my nose pads or ear pieces or I'll lose eyeglass screws and their staff is always there to help. There was a incident a few years ago where the lab who was making prescription sunglasses had to redo the glasses twice before getting it right. I wasn't charged additional for the remakes. I broke my glasses while visiting my son's family in Kailua and my glasses broke at the hinge. I called WVC and told them my problem. They weren't sure they could fix them so I asked if I could bring them in and if they could, could they fix them today. They said bring them in and I did. An hour later, went back and the glasses were fixed and they could have charged $50 like another Company in Bellevue Wa. did. They said no charge.... I was really surprised!! I am happy to say that Sarah from windward vision is wonderful. She called me up and we were able to figure out and fix the issue. Mine is not a normal situation. Sarah showed me that windward vision employees have a great deal of integrity and compassion. That goes a long way. The Dr i met with, forgot her name, was friendly and took time to explain everything to me despite the very loud construction overhead. Glad i gave them a second chance. Made an appointment with the Kailua office at first but they could not see me as soon as I would like due to eye pain & blurry vision. The lady I spoke to on the phone was helpful enough to check the windward location for earlier openings. The windward location had an early opening which was perfect. When I arrived to my appointment it wasn't busy at all, fairly empty. They helped me upon arrival & everything was so thorough. The Dr. took her time checking my eyes and going over everything. It didn't feel rushed, & everything she did she explained. When it was time to get new prescription glasses the lady in the front who helped me select frames, was so awesome. Not only did she select the perfect frames for me she helped with the payment for my prescription and frames and worked with my financial situation because we all know that glasses aren't cheap. He and the lady at the desk were so kind, positive, and upbeat. He took us step by step explaining every exam procedure, and double checking results. Just picked up a pair of glasses after having a temple replaced. Windward's optometry clinic ordered a replacement for a Marchon Airlock metal frame. We specifically asked them to call us if the piece chosen from Marchon's website catalog was different than the glasses being repaired. We got a call a couple of weeks later saying the glasses were ready to be picked up. The replacement temple is a matte finish, where the other parts of the frame (bridge and opposite temple are polished. The technician's explanation was: 'that's the best we could do'. No call, just install and say, 'see ya'. Not me. Windward Vision Center won't see me again. read more

Wayde helped me soo much! He was very helpful. We spent 3 hours looking for a frame. He was helpful to the end. Sasha was also very knowledgable about the type of frame I needed. I have a very high prescription so I needed something with high index lens, short width and height. It was challenging, but we found something. I was happy w my selection and I was glad to get their opinions! Wayde was usually the person in the lab. They deserve 6 stars!!! I went in to Windward Vision Center on 4/24/18 and ordered my third pair of eye glasses. From the moment I walked in to the moment I walked out I was definitely satisfied with my service! I was greeted with warm welcomes and smiling faces. My DR. Was able to answer all my questions and the staff at the front kindly helped me arrange my contact fitting appt. As I walked around to look for frames this nice gentleman helped me pick our frames that suited me! How awesome is that?! I also paid $25 for them to expedite my eyeglasses. They said it would arrive in about 3-4 Days. So you can imagine how happy I was when I received a call on 4/25/18 saying my eyeglasses were ready!!! I went to the Kaneohe store in Windward mall looking for new sunglasses. Just walking in I could tell I would be getting a lot more than I expected. All the employees were energetic, cheerful, and happy to help in anyway. The store was clean, comfortable and they had a great selection of brands, frames, and colors. After 2 hours and trying on at least 50 pairs I finally found the perfect look and fit. What impressed me the most was that the office manager Devin Jenkins was so willing to help me in my search and even offered to order me styles and colors not currently in the store to find "the one".
