This was a superb dining experience. The waiters were lovely and knowledgeable and the food was fantastic! The only problem was choosing what to order. There are too many enticing dishes! They have a wine rack which you are invited to get up and browse through to select your wine. I thought that was a nice touch. The chairs are super comfy and you can easily sit there all night. Stuart summed up this dining experience brilliantly. Although I've haven't dined here for dinner, I've had the pleasure in indulging in their high tea menu and as expected, it was utterly divine! With a glass of champagne upon arrival and a decadent platter of savouries and sweets, you almost feel you're reliving the pure and graceful characters of Elinor and Marianne, the Dashwoods sisters of Sense and Sensibility. Expect cucumber sandwiches, the edges manicured perfectly, hot pastries baked perfectly by the in-house chef and sweet decadent tartlets and moist chocolate cakes. There is also free flow of coffee and tea to end your perfect high tea experience here. I promise you you won't leave feeling hungry, the servings is generous and enough for 2 high tea fans. The high tea menu runs from Tuesday-Friday from Noon-3pm and cost $39 per person. You need to make a 24 hour booking to secure your high tea experience. I have had this place on my "always wanted to go to" list for eons. When mum suggested we use the Entertainment Book and go on a few Saturdays ago, I eagerly picked up the phone and booked. While the decor may seem a bit dated, the service and hospitality that you will receive here is second to none. Full silver service! I ordered the chateaubriand and mum had the venison and we shared a side salad. And when our food arrived each dish had it's own waiter, even the condiments! Come here for a date, for a birthday, well you don't need a reason really. If the prices put you off, they are in the Entertainment Book and it is well worth it.The food is delicious. I will be going back for moe and more. They even do high tea. I know what I'll be booking for Mother's Day next year. read more

Lenzerheide - a little slice of gastronomic heaven hidden away on Belair Road at Hawthorn, serving lunch, high tea and dinner just ten minutes out of town. This is a sister restaurant to Alphutte in the CBD, and features the same high standards of food and service. Lenzerheide is very much a fine dining experience - I've been there for a few special occasions and would recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone looking for somewhere special to go. The surroundings are classy and elegant, the food is absolute finesse on a plate. Air dried beef shaved so fine it's translucent as an entree, chateaubriand or duck a l'orange as a main, and a lime and passionfruit souffle for dessert, and you can colour me happy - ok, so you probably need to add a serve of roschti there, too (shredded potato fried golden brown - kinda like the gourmet version of a hash brown only with more 'oh my god, you have to try this' added in) to colour me really happy :) Off street parking isn't plentiful but it probably is just about enough to serve the restaurant's needs. As with most fine dining establishments, it's a spacious building and you're seated with enough room from your fellow diners that you can feel comfortably alone with your companion or companions. Booking ahead is pretty much compulsory here. Don't forget that Roschti - you won't regret it. read more

Somewhere special, great ambiance, service & food I was introduced to this restaurant by my husbands family about 7 years ago and it has been my favorite restaurant in Adelaide since. The tables are spread out around the central atrium and there are just enough soft furnishings to keep the noise level PERFECT. The food is sensational. the menu has remained pretty much unchanged in the 7 years I've been going but with chefs specials and such a range it doesn't matter. Pay no attention to any review of this restaurant unless the writer gives it a 5 star! I was visiting Adelaide and was indeed lucky to be invited to join friends for a special occasion dinner. My friends patronize this establishment regularly and assured me it was the BEST one in Adelaide. Well, I'll have to take their word for it, not being an Adelaide resident myself! I suspect their judgement may be correct, however as every aspect of this place was so impressive - from the outside appearance of this transformed historic home to the the last little detail on offer inside. The staff were excellent. Friendly, discrete, attentive and knowledgeable. Clearly, they were well trained. Could not fault the fabulous food (modern Australian) and if you are a wine buff, you will be in your element, as the range and quality on offer from the cellar is fantastic. The tables were well-spaced and the acoustics excellent as we could easily chat without either hearing noise from other tables or feeling our conversation was overheard. Management, I beg you to hold me hostage one night with the chef! Please? This place is unbeatable. The food is a gastronomic orgasm with every morsel that hits your taste buds. So fresh, so innovative , so perfect. Words cannot do justice to this restaurant. You'll just HAVE to go there. In 55 years I have never eaten oysters..until I tried one here and now I am hooked. It was like an ocean breeze on my palette. The specials are just phenomenal and this is the only restaurant where price doesn't matter to me, not that I am at all well off, quite to the contrary, but I do know that whatever we have ever ordered ..well, you just can't put a price on such outstanding quality. I was so impressed last time when I went to the loo and my meal was removed, heated and re -plated for me and served within seconds of me returning to my table. The service is also out of this world and the staff are attentive and know exactly what you need before you even know you need it yourself. Now, any parent would appreciate this....My sixteen year old son, pimples and all, has NO hesitation in accepting an invitation to go back there anytime. I am so proud that he has such a discerning palette but really the restaurant takes the credit for seducing a youth with their culinary expertise. Whatever the occasion, or if not, just invent one to go there because if you die before you do you will have missed out on the most extraordinary sensations ever..and let's face it ....It'll be too late when you're dead. The wine list by the way is sensational and they even have sulfide free wines for those sensitive souls such as myself and if there's something you'd like substituted in a dish it's no trouble at all. The acoustics are superb with no shouting needed and tables are generously separated to allow intimacy and privacy. They also do High Teas I am told which come recommended and compared to "The Ritz" in London! Spoil yourself and I can guarantee you won't regret it. Parking is more than ample. Very Disappointed! We were very disappointed with this restaurant, had read reviews and thought we were in for a nice evening - not so! We were shown to our table and our waiters arrived, we were a bit lost over who was who, we think one may have been in training, the service was very confusing and stuffy! After ordering our food we realised it was very cold where we were, after a while we told the waiter who said they would turn up the heating, although there were empty tables they never suggested we move, and turning up the heating didn't work. Looking around we realised that people who had obviously been there before were dressed for the winter weather and the rest just like us and cold! We gave up before dessert and left! They really need to sort out their staff and the heating. The whole place is in a time warp, both the staff and the restaurant need updating. Would we go back - NO! June 2016 read more

The candlelit dining room welcomes you with its ambient glow and soft music....and thats before you are even served! Beware the roschti with it's crisp edge and soft salted silky centre, it's everything you want in a meal and oh so mucch more! Drown yourseld in the delirious deliciousness of the dessert! I have nothing new to add to the glowing reviews on the food, service and ambience at Lenzerheide (you're all winners!). What I do have to offer however is that wonderful word in the English language - sommelier. I love a good sommelier and there's always one on duty here, full to the brim with knowledge and wine waffle. I find it invigorating to approach racks and fridges of fine wines and subsequently be talked through the finer points of each within your price range by the resident expert. Very nice food and good service. The restaurant is very dated, has not changed in a long time. I think the fine dining it portrays itself to be was let down when we were there by the table of guys next to us in shorts, singlets and thongs. A few changes are needed to justify the pricing. read more
