What a great night with friends at this new hot spot! It was recommended we have the banquet as there were 9 of us. 2 friends had dietary requirements and were able to order what they wanted off the main menu, which made them very happy. We were able to bring our own wine and pay $15 corkage which is always great! Food was tasty and came out fast. I feel we needed more time to finish each course before the next course came out, and staff were a bit too snappy to clear plates away when were were still wanting to pick at the plates. All round though a good experience! Very happy!

My family and I went here for lunch and couldn't have been happier. Service was incredibly fast and attentive. Our waiter took the time to explain everything to us and his recommendations were most welcome. It was great for example, to hear about Hispanic Mechanic's connection to Lucky Lupitas and how some of the furniture and glassware had been salvaged from the now defunct Sangrias. Talking of which, the fit out of the restaurant itself was also very impressive. Industrial and colourful with a large outdoor area that will be worth revisiting with a large group of friends on warm summer nights. On the all important food, we enjoyed almost all of what we ordered save for a crispy pig's hock dish with a somewhat challenging bed of tamal (corn meal). The tamal has a gelatinous texture which I didn't really enjoy. This is a personal preference though as those of you who like porridge would probably take no issue with it! Overall the food was great and came out to our table quickly and beautifully presented. Well worth visiting!

Wow. This place... I think I have found my new favorite restaurant in Adelaide. There are so many aspects to Hispanic Mechanic that I don't know where to start, but I'll try to sum it all up as best I can. We lived in Crafers for a few years, so the drive to the city always took us down Glen Osmond road. Late last year we saw the stirrings of something interesting. "Hispanic Mechanic" was being constructed and I thought it might be a restaurant, but also wondered if it would just be a bunch of Hispanic guys hotting up cars and stuff. I'm glad it was the former. Lucky Lupitas is one of my favorite restaurants as is its sister restaurant United Latino Cucina, so when we walked into Hispanic Mechanic and saw familiar faces from those restaurants, including the head chef, I was excited straight away. We were given a few options on where to sit and chose the communal long table in the centre to get right amongst it and were given menus quickly and our drink orders were taken a few minutes later - great service. One thing I'll mention here is that HM is much much bigger than the other two restaurants (Lucky Lupitas and United Cocina) which was good to see as it means less chance of having to wait. We ordered some Mexican beers and then ordered an assortment of dishes, but stuck to the Korean-Mex section of the menu except for a duck taco and Elote (which is a Lucky Lupitas specialty). The great thing about HM is their Mexican Korean fusion menu. Tacos with wasabi mayonnaise! So freaking good. Kimchi slaw... What!? But it all works so well, it's genius. I was blown away by the imagination and quality at Hispanic Mechanic and the interior and graphic design of the restaurant is really cool and fitting with the food. They also have a gorgeous bar with over 20 tequilas, rums, Mexican beers and all the food from the restaurant is available at the bar. They make their own chili sauces and rubs which can be bought in the bar and they are amazing. If you love chili like me, try the habanero sauce. It has a kick! The outdoor area looks like it will kick off in summer too, so I can't wait to take a group of friends here for a Korean-Mex party!

The Elote was very tasty (just like Lucky Lupitas), but I feel could have done with a little more mayo and cheese.

A quiet little Mexican place full of Culture with a warm, relaxing atmosphere…read more I enjoyed the culture throughout the restaurant displayed through painted walls of Santa Muerte among other things and little idols scattered about the dining. Although this did not hold my attention for the duration of the 1 hour & 45 minute wait before our meals were served. This is my first time eating at this place so i am not sure if this is a usual occurrence and am happy to give it the benefit of the doubt (hence the 3 stars) However i did notice that others were also experiencing long wait times and it was not all that busy. The meals tasted authentic and were enjoyable if not a little underwhelming. Definitely not the best i have had and were rather small in portion sizes than i have come to expect from other Mexican Restuarants. All in all a fine little place but the service and meals did not scrub up to other competitors out there and this really let it down for me. Perhaps this place is not trying to be more than what it is. It seems to me that it would shine mostly for the true authentic Mexican lovers out there rather than the rest of us casual enjoyers of the Mexican Cuisine.

Absolutely delicious!!!…read more Had the seafood burrito, chock full of fish and prawns and cheese toasted to perfection. The rice and salad freshens up the dish. Don't ignore this place on a busy road. It's a tranquil setting inside and the staff are super super friendly. Prices are pretty good. Mexican can be very expensive but $17 for a burrito (a very filling main meal) was good value!

I'd been meaning to try Arriba Grill up in Prospect for ages, but I just never made it up there…read more Then (thanks to Erin K.) I found out Arriba was coming to my old 'hood and I had to pop in. This place is tiny, there are two tables (I think) and then some benches. I love there ordering process, because it gives you a bit longer to think about what you're ordering without feeling the pressure of a cafeteria style line-up. You grab one of the menus, ponder over your choices, and then tick off the things you'd like. Hand it up to one of the gals or guys at the counter and they'll give it to you once it's ready. There are also some cute touches, like the super mario set up in the corner, but then some strange ones like the EFTPOS machine that was over in some corner rather than behind the counter. Perhaps this is just a kink they'll iron out. All in all the buritos were pretty fresh, I wasn't feeling too worried that any of the salad has been sitting around for too long, and the people were all friendly. It's a little far down Goodwood Road to be in a great location (unless you live local), but for anyone south of the city it's a better prospect than Prospect.

For lunch on Friday I ordered a burrito using Arriba Grill's online ordering form on their website…read more It's pretty easy to do and you can select all or just some of the ingredients from each category. I thought it was nice to be able to choose exactly what you want on your burrito and when you want to pick it up. The burrito was tasty and possibly the biggest burrito I have ever eaten. I'm not exaggerating, but this thing was the size of a mini pot roast. I couldn't finish it all and was still in a food coma for about 2 hours. A few comments. Maybe they could have a smaller sized burrito for about $9. At $13 and how big it was, I don't think it will become a regular lunch spot for me. I will have to try their Nachos and other items though, to see if there's something a bit lighter on. Also a few more drink options would be great, like some iced teas or something other than coke or sprite. Maybe even some Mexican beers in the future? Other than that, it was a great experience. I hope more businesses adopt the online ordering system.

Well, not all of the pub is like that, since the bar wasn't as great as some that I have been to, though they do have some pretty decent beers available, which sort of made me forget all about that. The Edinburgh Hotel has stunning outdoor seating, a lovely and varied menu and helpful staff…read more Situated on Main Street in Mitcham, the hotel consists of many small bars and rooms, all labeled with large black signs. When I went to there on a Saturday afternoon, I was lucky enough to experience their outdoor seating in the beer garden. The beer garden is located at the northern edge of the hotel/pub. There are many large trees to take shade under and a range of barrels to sit at and enjoy a drink. For the beer garden, they had a window in the main building where you could order drinks. The drinks were well priced. One thing that I found pretty cool was that there was a person collecting beer glasses from tables once people were done. He even wore a shirt that said "glassy" on it. What was even more impressive than the humour with the shirt was the fact that he could carry around 40 glasses stacked up and still open the door to go inside. Some serious talent there! Although I did not end up selecting from their exquisite snack and meal menu for the beer garden, as the event I went to was catered, I managed to have a quick browse of the menu. The meals were around $20 or so, which is pretty good and they all sounded great. I will have to try some of them, the next time I go. As for the food at the catered event, I felt it was quite innovative, favoursome and well presented. The first item I had were sundried tomato and thyme pinwheels. It was a simple bite sized appetizer however the thyme and the sundried tomato paste went well together. The flatbread that held the ingredients together was also not too loose meaning that it could easily be eaten without a plate or napkin. The second appetizer was a Brie and Quince cracker. The watercracker had a thin slice of Brie at the base followed by a small rectangular prism of quince paste. It was a very simple yet effective appetizer. It is a shame I didn't get a photo of that one before I sent it on a one-way journey to my stomach. Appetizer the third was a samosa. It was filled with diced vegetables and was served hot. For this one, I thought ahead and grabbed a napkin and waited a minute for them to cool down. The same could not be said for the other people at the table who endured went straight in and found it to be quite hot indeed. The samosa was served with what appeared to be a chive sauce. The sauce was tasty and complemented the flavor of the samosa and it's spiced vegetable contents quite well. The fourth appetizer was a prawn wrapped in a fancy tempura batter. I am not a big seafood lover however I broke of the tip of the batter and found it to be quite nice. Appetizer number 5 were sausage rolls and mini pasties. And the best part was, they looked like they were made at the hotel and not bought from a supermarket! The worst part was, they ran out by the time they got to me cause most people took two of them (a pastie and a sausage roll each). The sixth and final appetizer was a thin strip of crumbed fish served with tartare sauce. I had a nice sized piece which unfortunately broke when I dipped it in the tartare sauce, however I was fortunately able to savage it. The batter was nice and not too oily. It was well crumbed and the fish was fresh. If these appetizers are anything like the food on the menu, then I will definitely be going back. The surroundings were lovely and it was the perfect spot to spend the afternoon.
