Instead of receiving a answer by phone I will have to inform my Colonel that I will have to take time from important work to B.S. my time at a DMV. If you are tired of this contact DAVE KERNER DIRECTOR OF FLHMV and make this complaint, or drop nails in the DMV employee parking lot.

I was on crutches, struggled to get across parking lot in 90 degree heat and was then told I could schedule an appointment in two days!!! I asked about getting in that day since there were only 3 people in the waiting area and I needed the pass to be able to park within a quarter mile of my office the next morning. I was told they had other appointments and I could expect to wait an hour. I asked how many people were ahead of me and they said none. They said I could still expect to wait an hour since I was a walk-in and did not have an appointment. The way she described it one gets the sense that the policy is to make you wait an hour no matter how busy they are. I waited for 1/2 hour and then observed when they called someone else, that person did not show up, they called another immediately after and they were not present either. Since I was the only one on the walk-in list I expected to be called. I was not called. I went back to the check-in counter I was then told that they will wait on anyone who had an appointment even if they are 30 mi early! Very different from What they told me when I first walked in about getting served when there was a break. Also, while I waiting I could see staff sitting at their stations/windows chatting with others and walking around. Very frustrating and it is no surprise this office has such a poor reputation . It is very disappointing that they cannot accurately convey their policy when asked. Frankly, I suspect it is because they realize it will only further frustrate people because it does not make a lot of sense. Sometimes people have a legitimate medical emergency and need to conduct business. That is why allowing walk-ins make sense. However, not if you are going to make them wait a few hours so you can let other people be served well before their appointment I know how I will vote next election.

After living in Florida off and on for about 40 years I finally came home to New York. I don't even care to go visit these days. I do miss my friends and relatives though. Florida does have great Parks, Sports and recreational activities of all kinds. The most beautiful golf courses in the United States as far as I'm concerned. Beautiful beaches, boating and lots of fishing. Like I said I'm conflicted. I'm going with Four Stars.

It is the second state with a tropical climate besides Hawaii. The first known European to land on Florida was Juan Ponce de Leon in 1513. The oldest continually inhabited city is Saint Augustine, one of my favorite cities! It's a popular tourist destination because of the weather, theme parks, and the beaches. The population is continuing to boom and it has become very congested, especially in the Miami metro area which consists of Miami Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties. I lived in Broward/Palm Beach County for almost 9 years and loved the diversity, ambiance, and amenities there. The cruise ports and airports are located in a convenient area. They have top rated Universities. There are many activities and places to explore; it's a popular place for people to retire and be snowbirds. If I have the means, I would love to be a snow bird; nothing beats Florida winters! With the good, there are the bad. The congestion and traffic in the major cities are horrendous; there are so many condos and apartments being built in every corner. The hurricanes are scary; I've lived through a few of them and it was not fun. The alligators are dangerous and they do bite; the bugs are rampant. The public schools are not rated well, where I lived. The summers are oppressive; you will be stuck inside all day in the AC, which is not fun when you're an outdoorsy person. Overall, I enjoyed living there but I missed the seasons. Since having kids, I prefer to raise them where I'm from, New England. Florida will always hold a dear spot in my heart though; I loved the life I created there. I look forward to visiting again soon, this time as a tourist.
