Disclaimer: I'm not much for chain hotels... I prefer a bit more character, or better yet a service…read moreapartment or flat rental... with a friend or two they are often the same price, if not cheaper, than a typical hotel. Not being a huge football fan (shoot me, I know), I'm not sure I'm as enamoured with this hotel as most. That said, it's definitely not a bad place to stay if in the area. For a typical hotel this place really does tick most of my boxes... the aircon in the rooms works a treat, the black out curtains actually block out all of the exeternal light, there is a small fridge in the room for your own drinks and snacks, and the rooms themselves are spacious... complete with a desk and extra chairs. Even not being a football fan, I must admit that the view into the stadium from the onsite restaurant is quite cool... I believe some rooms have a view as well, so obviously this can be a huge plus. The breakfast here was on par with what you would expect, but extra props for the eager willingness to make eggs however you wanted them. I can't speak to the dinners as I didn't have the chance to try them. The only odd negative can be the sheer size of the hotel as it wraps around the pitch... my particular room was hilariously far away from the entrance which proved a bit of an annoyance when after a long day my keycard no longer functioned... it was nearly soul destroying knowing my bed was just there on the other side of the door with no way for me to get to it. Based on my disclaimer I'm going with four stars personally, as I certainly wouldn't be upset staying here again, but if you're a football fan or if you generally prefer hotels such as the DoubleTree Hilton then I doubt you'll find much fault.

Quite possibly the nicest hotel I have ever stayed at! Huge, modern rooms that more resemble…read moresuites! If you are a football fan expect to be impressed with your own private balcony view of the pitch! All rooms have a mini-bar, although you have to ask for it to be stocked. Food was excellent and breakfast even more so amazing. The best part of the whole visit, was having a warm double chocolate chip cookie shoved in my hand by the receptionist at check in! Downsides is it can be pricey when you go direct to Hilton, however check out some of the booking sites like LateRooms or Lastminute to get the best deals. I paid £70 for a night in a pitch side room. Expect the prices to rocket wherever you buy from on match days!

My OH has family in MK and we have stayed in a number of hotels in the city center. We decided to…read moretake a few days off work and go stay in the Travel Lodge to see family. When we got their, we had to wait in reception for ages until someone finally decided to show up and hand us our key. Didnt show us or tell us where the room was, but just assumed they were busy. A maid was walking out our floor so we held the door open for them - did we get a thank you, or even an acknowledgement we were there?! Nope. Got to the room, and it smelt of damp. There was a spot on the walls and the bathroom tiles were falling off!! I couldnt even look in the bath tub. Then my OH sat on the bed - it broke!! He only weighs 10 stone so it wasnt as if he was heavy! We went and told reception and their response was 'do you want to change room then' erm well obviously. So we ended up moving all our stuff into a different room, as soon as we walked in it stunk of smoke. The window was left open so it was freezing cold - and was obviously trying to get rid of the smoke smell. This is actually against the law, and was very shocked seeing as neither of us smoke. There was no food available here, an empty vending machine in the reception but nothing else. The room was extremely basic, but we decided to let it go because we were only staying a few days. That night all you could hear was the scuttering of tons of rats! We went out the next day and when we returned the room stunk of smoke again, and the window was left open again! We decided to leave as we didnt feel as if it was clean or safe staying there, and on our way out we saw 3 rats running around the carpark! How disgraceful! I would recommend Holiday Inn as this was gorgeous when we stayed there!

The positives as reported back to me by my stepson:…read more Room was fine. Breakfast was good. ------------------------------------------ E-mail to Wyndham Rewards: I used my Wyndham points for my stepson and his partner to stay in Milton Keynes as they were visiting Indoor Skydiving. What a shock to learn that: * £10 for parking * £12.99 for a day's use of Wi-Fi. There is no mention on the website to suggest that a fee for either of the above are likely. If there had been a mention, then I would have enquired. Besides the fact that both fees are extremely disgusting, it is rather scurrilous not have that information about the hotel. I wish I had read TripAdvisor first, and I would have gleaned more. The stupid thing is that I trusted the Ramada site to be honest, and informative. That is not my only complaint. I understand that Ramada hotels are franchises and each will have different owners, but they sign up to the Wyndham loyalty scheme. They benefit by people staying and paying their rates, and the customer gets points to use in other hotels. None of this is rocket science. What my stepson encountered was a change in tone and manner when the person, at the reception desk, realised that their booking was using Wyndham points. A guest is a guest no matter how the room booking is funded. I also use Club Carlson, and I have say that when I have used their hotels that I have been treated like royalty when I show my loyalty card. I'm expecting a call from the hotel to see what they have to say about the matter. However, let me add this point: If the website had said there were charges for these facilities, and to ring to get the up to dated fee, then that would have been fine.
