Unfortunately, our experience with management and office staff has been consistently disappointing. The staff, including the property manager, have been rude, unprofessional, and largely indifferent to tenant concerns--even serious issues such as rodent infestations. For the past three months, we have been dealing with mice in our apartment. The maintenance supervisor has worked with us by providing treatments and sealing potential entry points, but the problem continues. Despite the ongoing infestation, the property manager has been extremely negligent in addressing the situation, to the point that I had to contact the city to bring attention to the issue. We also spoke with David, the individual who frequently responds to Google reviews. Unfortunately, he was no help. While he presents himself as someone who understands and cares about residents' concerns, our experience suggests otherwise. We felt misled and unsupported throughout this process. To make matters worse, our request to terminate our lease without penalty was denied, despite the ongoing infestation and what appear to be ineffective attempts to resolve the problem. It has become clear to us that this company prioritizes profits over the well-being of its tenants. After eight years as loyal residents, we expected to have a better relationship with management. Instead, we've learned that loyalty means very little when tenant concerns are not taken seriously. We will not be renewing our lease. We would rather spend our money somewhere we feel respected, valued, and appreciated. Save yourself the frustration and think carefully before renting here. Air conditioners is not updated for the apartments so it never cools the apartment off. Staff in the office mess up alot and blames you. The appliances are not new in the apartment they are broken and pieces get replaced from other broken appliances. It takes them forever to believe your apartment is hot so they will do bare minimum to fix it. Currently have construction going on next to apartments so its causing alot of rodents noise and mess. I have a disability that makes it hard to walk, especially in icy conditions. For whatever reason, Lerner decided to plow all of the snow into the empty handicap spot while I was out on Friday. When I came back the space was inaccessible and I have had to park far away, which is dangerous for me, even with my cane, because I could fall. This is preventing me from leaving my apartment to do things like get groceries. I have called the office 4 times and left messages with 3 different people. Each person I talk to is polite and serves as a fantastic barrier for Lerner taking any accountability for making positive change happen. I have also filed an urgent maintenance request in my portal to have them clear the snow. Lerner is being completely dismissive and unresponsive. This feels like a major ADA violation, with clear discrimination against individuals with disabilities. This is just icing on the cake from when my dishwasher was broken and it took around 3 months to fix. In short, do not live here if you have a maintenance problem that you need to be solved. I have enjoyed my experience at University Square. When searching for a home, this was the only apartment I found that had hardwood floors for the dining area/eat-in kitchen. All of the other apartments had carpet in the eating area. The apartments are large and nice. If you move here, pay careful attention to your building. All of the buildings are not the same. My building is an end unit which means there are only 2 apartments on each floor. The common area and stairs in my building is ceramic, very nice, and clean. I was not aware of any safety issues that others have posted about. However, I lived next door to a police officer as well. During peak hours, the office uses a messaging service to respond to calls which means you will not get an answer right away. This was frustrating when I was trying to lease the apt, but once I moved in I found that communicating online through email is more effective when they're busy. They definitely need to have more staff during peak hours on the weekends. Pros: -Lawn, hallways, and common areas are always clean and taken care of -Trash pickup service -Amenities (pool, fitness, center, basketball courts, playgrounds) -Location (walking distance to historic Greenbelt which has several playgrounds, grocery stores, restaurants, aquatic center, youth center, library) -Responsive maintenance -For the most part, this area is quiet -I have had no issues or concerns with safety. Do yourself a favor and don't move here. The rental office staff is unprofessional. We've contacted them several times with issues with residents and they never follow up with us. We've always had to reach out to them for updates. The Assistant Property Manager Sydney Lewis is very rude and unprofessional. She is quick to catch an attitude or hang up on you and then claim it was an accident. Maintenance seems like they are illiterate. We've submitted requests and every time they arrive at our apartment they question us as if they are not sure what they should be working on. We have two bathrooms, a master and a hallway bathroom. We can submit a request for the Master Bath and every time we do, maintenance does the work to the hallway bathroom which results in us having to call them out for a second time. We also had a problem with flies coming into our place. Called the rental office on a Monday and they said we would have to deal with it until Friday when the pest control was due out there. Parking is a frustration because the spots are tiny and there are never enough spaces, so often we are forced to park our cars far from our home. I strongly believe that Lerner Residental doesn't care about their residents. They allow residents to do whatever they want with no consequences. Don't move here. I could write a book on how horrible this place is. But I'll just gloss over the big things so that you get a general idea. I've lived here for 2 years and it's only been down hill. To start, I have had multiple bug problems. Mostly crickets but a serious, sickening amount of crickets. I couldn't go anywhere in the apartment without seeing at least 1/2 a dozen crickets, alive or dead just lying around. Even after contacting the front desk several times and having different bug companies come to spray there was still crickets! I think it was mostly because of the mildewy wetness in the apartment. Which leads me to major problem 2. Water damage. The washer dryer leaked and created water damage. The apartment above me had a leak in their bathroom and it came into my place. They had to tear down a ceiling in the bedroom and multiple walls. And then it wasn't fixed properly so they had to come back within 2 months and do it again. Due to all the water damage there is now mold. So yet again the maintenance men are back at my place.... Despite contacting the office on multiple occasions they never get back to you. You have to stop in to get them to do anything. Overall management here is bad and customer service is absolutely terrible. Don't let the large apartment sizes and relatively low cost of rent for the area to trick you into coming here. The lack of customer service is appalling. read more

If I could do zero stars, I would! Please do not move here! The leasing office literally does not answer or solve any problems. They will ignore all emails and concerns. Management, PLEASE hire more responsible and professional employees for the office because they genuinely do not care! Lerner Review I was fooled, that's the best way to summarize my experience at Lerner University Square. Though, the office staff is generally a friendly bunch that's where the good starts and end. Lerner fools you with its remodeled apartments and makes you think you are getting your money's worth, however that isn't the case. The apartments are overpriced and poorly constructed. I thought living in the building right next to the rental office would have its perks, that it might be better taken care of but I was wrong. However, Lerner does keep up the maintenance of the public facing property. The lawn is well manicured and the property is litter free. The front door to my building has been broken several times to the point that you are in fear of being locked on one side or the other. I had an experience where I had a guest come visit and they were locked inside the building for 10 minutes before another resident walked by and opened the door from the outside. This could have been a big safety hazard had the residents needed to exit the building in case of an emergency. Instead of solving the problem that had been going on for an extended period of time the building staff instead stuck a coin in the door to solve the problem another day. The walls in this building are EXTREMELY THIN. You can hear every movement made on either wall around you. When I contacted the rental office regarding a noise problem I was told that I needed to contact the police and that it wasn't their responsibility to handle complaints of that matter. My neighbor below me regularly blast music every morning starting around 7:00 am. Once blasting music/tv for over 12 hours. The sound was so clear I could tell what they were watching. After knocking on the door twice I received no answer. I was a bit surprised that's the rental office is unable to step in to send out a noise notice but first suggestion is to call the police. The parking for guest is also very limited and guest cars will get towed if you are not in a guest space as they regularly have several tow truckers come through the lot at night. Recently, several cars have been broken into and cars have also been left sitting on bricks. The hallway occasionally smells of marijuana but only so much so that you can tell it's being smoked in the apartments and not the hallway. Neighbors also occasionally leave trash in front of their doors. The maintenance staff is pretty responsive and any work orders submitted in the morning are usually completed before 5:30. Overall, I wouldn't recommend living at Lerner. I'm looking forward to my lease being up and being able to move. read more

Unfortunately, I was not approved but in the process they took my application fee and apartment holding fee of $200. It's been almost 3 weeks and I have yet to have my holding fee returned to me. I called the first week and was told that it usually takes 10-14 day to return. I was ok with that. Second week still no money. Third week still no money after calling 3 days in a row and being told that a manager was going to check on the status of my return and hearing NOTHING. Not even an email.... NOTHING. I spoke to someone on the phone today who wanted to leave another message for the "phantom supervisor". I am a regular working 9-5 person. Nice apartment. Nice location. Not worth the money. There has been too many issues with the apartment and the apartment complex. I have been living here for three years and they do not care about their tenets. There's always a heating and AC issues. The property manager is nowhere to be found. Every time you make a complaint, you will never see the property manager. Don't get a motorcycle because they will not give a damn about you. It is not worth the money. You will get harassed about rent before they come and help you about your apartment and the issues with it. Everything seems like it breaks within a week. Beware of this rental complex. They charge you an arm and a leg to rent their apartments. Half of the complex has serious parking issues where parking is hard to find and you end up parking far away from your building. This is not ideal with kids or especially in the winter months. Additionally, they pick and choose how and when they give you policy information. More than a few times I've been given "surprise" info and then was told that's the policy, after the fact. They sent me to collections for a bill they did not let me know of until after I left. When I called to ask about it, I was told I didn't do enough to make sure I took care of everything before i moved out. Correct me if I'm wrong but shouldn't the rental company walk through a vacate notice with you? Apparently it was my job to initiate that and not the office!? How does that make sense? Then they sell your information to collections and make you pay even more money. Very shady business practices go on at this place. They are very overpriced and it's not worth it. Moved in one week ago (June 2017). The entrance door to our building requires a code, but upon arrival I noticed that the door was broken so that it would remain open. Also noticed that I could not lock the front door to my apartment due to visible damage from it previously being forced open. I contacted maintenance about both issues. Neither door was replaced. They simply rigged it to work correctly again. This would have been fine, except the entrance door to the apartment building has been broken again. Also relevant is the teenagers that hang out and sometimes sleep in the stairwells. Lerner apartment staff provide no explanation or guidance when I informed them that I had to step over a sleeping teenager when leaving my apartment Saturday morning. When I walked out of my apartment at 6am this morning (Monday June 19, 2017), I could not open the building door. After trying for about 15 minutes, I realized there was no way for me to exit the building. I changed into athletic wear and climbed down my balcony to exit the building in order to get to work. I called maintenance today to report the security and safety concern given it seems someone is intentionally and consistently breaking the entrance door (probably to prevent having to put the code in). They were not responsive. I explained that it is a fire hazard for tenants to have no way of exiting the building. They were not responsive. I just got home from work and the door still has not been replaced; it was simply fixed just enough to open again. And the staff person I spoke with said they could not give me any information or do anything about the fact that it keeps getting broken. Do not be fooled by the nice model apartment they or the supposedly strict application process. This is no place for young professionals- if only I had known that before signing that lease. I am only one week in and may be seeking legal counsel in order to ensure my well being. read more

I was really excited to move in here but it appears they don't care about their tenants. I should haven't gotten a clue as to how they deal with things when the electric was turned off before we even signed the lease, so we couldn't even move in until about a week later. Then when we moved in we were without heat for a month, because there was an issue with the furnace. Called several times and had to threaten to get my lawyer involved to get the problem resolved. When maintenance comes in to your apartment, they want to get an attitude, when you ask them to remove their shoes as not to walk in your apartment on the carpet with their nasty shoes. Affordable, spacious apartments in a relatively safe neighborhood, especially for PG county. Close to public transportation, grocery shopping and the University of Maryland. However, staff can be extremely slow to respond to maintenance issues. Once in a while you get lucky and they'll fix your problem within the hour, but I've called three times in the past five days to get our washer fixed and they have yet to send someone over. Overall, can't complain. It's a nice neighborhood, our apartment is newly renovated and we only pay $1075 per month (gas/heat included, water and electric not) in rent, which is pretty awesome for a large 2-bedroom. General - For the price, they could try harder to offer a better experience. When my roommate and I first moved in there was some confusion about the unit we wanted to rent. We were able to lease a cheaper unit that was recently unavailable. But, the electricity was off and we'd already made plans to move. We were working with Portia who did her best to alleviate the situation since the problem was obviously an oversight by someone else in the office. We spent the weekend with extension cords running through our apartment. There was nothing offered to compensate for the major inconvenience. On a positive note, parking is great, and the neighborhood is generally nice. Maintenance - They take care of major issues in a timely fashion. Smaller issues are typically ignored. Construction - Although these units are updated with modern appliances, we noticed the construction was poor after moving into our unit. The floors are significantly unlevel, visibly noticeable when you put furniture in the apartment. For example, you can see that the doorways are slanted, and items roll off of tables and desks without effort. Fixtures and doors are also crooked. This is very annoying. The heat insulation is not the best. The master bedroom at the end of the apartment is constantly drafty, frigid even when the temperature drops. Noise - You can hear everything! Thankfully our building is fairly quiet. But, we can clearly hear our neighbors conversations when they have company and the buzzer for the main building door - we're on the top floor. The walls within the units are also very thin. Something to note. Staff - Portia is great, she has a high level of customer service and does her best, given circumstances that are most times out of her control. The office overall could benefit from greater attention to detail and willingness to ensure customer satisfaction. read more

If I could give this place a 0, I would! The maintenance is the worst! it took 2 months for the painter to paint one of our bathrooms. It's been 2 months since they came by took one of smoke detectors and our vents have never been changed since last year! My hallway bathroom has MOLD on the ceiling again, the paint in the tub is peeling! They hire mediocre maintenance who do mediocre work. My rating is based on the parking. I am so frustrated with the parking - we have parking permits. I returned my parking ticket when I purchased another car only to find out that one of the lazy office team members DID NOT do their job and remove it from my account. Now that I need a parking permit for car number 2 that was towed after I was given the go-ahead to park, from the rental office. They told me they didn't have any parking permits and they will send out memos when they arrived. Needless to say, NO memos went out regarding the parking and I was towed - that was a big inconvenience. They are to deduct the tow fees from my rent. Thanks. After going to the office to get a parking permit - IT BECOMES MY PROBLEM THAT SOMEONE DIDN'T DO THEIR JOB. I am supposed to do extra work outside of my place of employment and prove that I don't own the car that was supposed to be removed from my account two years ago. We've had a short stay here due to job relocation, however I'm sad to leave! The location is terrific, right by greenbelt lake, and less than a mile from the library, stores, parks, and churches. It's in a very nice area, that I have always felt safe in. I really love the apartments and the layouts and renovations as well. As a mom, I really appreciate having a non carpet dining area! The staff was also extremely obliging, from move-in to move-out. They were always courteous through all of our many phone calls and walk-ins. Our experience with maintenance was also very good. Moved here in 2017 and the issues started from the application process. After living here 1 year, I can see that was foreshadowing things to come. The hallways smell of weed so bad, we can't even bring people over to visit. The bathroom has now start to wreak at night from the it as well. Let's just say my poor husband has to throw on extra cologne before work b/c his boss commented on it (yikes!). We hear every footstep from the people above us but nothing from those living next store. We've tried to talk to management about the noise from upstairs and the heavy music but nothing seems to help stop the jamming session every night. Have lived at these apartments for 1 year. I love the spacious rooms. I have a three bedroom two bathroom. My building is quiet, mostly older couples, myself and my upstairs neighbor are the only ones with children in the building. After living in SPRINGHILL LAKE for a few years, this PLACE IS A GOD SEND! Maintenance, they come when needed. Anytime I need them, I call or send an email and its usually fixed in a day or same day. Office Staff, they know my by name, and are EXTREMLY PLEASENT! Before choosing to apply for these apartments, I had read all the reviews and I honestly was a bit apprehensive about applying. I came into the office and was greeted very kindly. I was taken on tour and fell in love with the 2BR apartment for myself and my roommate. We also have a dog which was ok because they are pet friendly. The application process was easy and we had no issues there. We were approved however, I received a job offer in California that I accepted and we moved to the east coast soon after. If you are interested in these apartments I would say at least go and see what they have to offer. For me it was a pleasant surprise! If we ever move back to Maryland I will be filling out an application again. read more

Do NOT move here! They evicted me by MISTAKE. They admitted they had incorrect paperwork. I was out of town when this occurred. All of my valuable belongings were either stolen or damaged in the rain because it stormed that day! I am already in touch with a lawyer and plan to sue. I went to the courthouse to make sure there wasn't any paperwork to justify an eviction and there was not. There is no settlement big enough to compensate for the loss of all me and my daughter's belongings. I walked out of the house that morning not knowing I would come home to all of my life's belongings gone. Now I literally have to rebuild my life and my daughters over a careless mistake made from the property management company. Tenants fell more 3 times walking down the stairs to walk out building no hand rails. Down the stairs to the common side walk. No salt on common sidewalk to get to car. This apartment complex is horrible. I have lived here for two years and it has not been that enjoyable. There is always one problem or another with this apartment. Almost everyone we have encountered has either move out or is planning to move out. The only reason I'm even given it one star is because the rooms are big enough to fit a queen or king size bed that's the only deal you get with this apartment complex but taken into consideration the fact that they have raised the rent every year diminishes that one amenity. New to the area I wanted to find something comfortable and within my price range. This was exactly that!

The apartment complex was amazing and enjoyable until this summer. My wife and I have been living here for almost a year now and living here has been our best apartment living experience until these past few months. As the summer came, the temperatures rose astronomically. The temperatures have been between 90-100 degrees outside on most days. Our air conditioning has not worked at an optimal level since. Our average temperature(per pepco) inside the apartment for the past few months(May-July) has been 79 degrees. We experienced days where the temperature in the apartment reached all the way to 88 degrees. We have always constantly kept our thermometer set at 72 degrees(As the office suggested), but it never reaches 72 degrees. My wife is currently 9 months pregnant; she has had to endure these unexplainable and inexcusable temperatures on a daily basis. We had to purchase two fans to cool the apartment down to the point where she didn't feel like she was about to faint. There was no relief in the daytime or night before we purchased the fans; we were constantly hot and sweating. We have had maintenance come out 3 times in which every time they tell us that nothing is wrong with the air conditioning unit, that's just how it is. One maintenance worker even told us that we were not alone and that there was even another resident whose temperatures inside their apartment was 85-90 degrees! As if that's normal. On top of the unbearable temperatures our electricity bill has sky-rocketed. We went from paying $70 in April to $150+ in May to $234 in June and now our current bill for July is $381! We have a 1 bd/1 ba apartment; there is no way possible we are expending enough energy to have an almost $400 bill. We have lived in 2 different apartment complexes prior to this one and we have never seen a $200-300 electricity bill and we've had a 2 bd/1 ba w/den apartment before. AND just to add, it was never above 70 degrees in those apartments in the summer. This is completely unacceptable. For the past month we have been trying to communicate with the office about this issue and it seems as if they are ignoring us or pushing us away every day in hopes that we will leave it alone. For the past month we have called every single day in which we are met with a response of " We'll give you a call back later today when the property manager is in". Needless to say we never receive the call back and have to call back ourselves the next day in which we receive the exact same response. So the property manager hasn't been in the office for the past month or somebody's is lying. The lack of response and accountability from the office has been disrespectful and down right utterly disgusting to say the least. The entire time I lived here I had a wonderful stay. The apartment was nice they're were minor issues as far as previous carpet stain(they said they would have them cleaned before we moved in but never did)a couple nicks and crannies but for the most part the apartment was in good standing. While living here if I ever had any maintenance issue they were responded to fast and efficiently. For the most part my stay was great. It wasn't until after I moved out the foolishness started. We received a notice asking were we going to renew our lease and my roommate and I decided not to and to part ways. We responded to our renewal notice in the allotted time that was given to us. Fast forward to a month and a half after moving out we were waiting for our security deposit to return. We received a letter with a numerous amount of fees saying why we wouldn't receive our security deposit back and saying that we didn't evacuate the premises until 4/1 when I moved out 3/10 and my roommate moved out 3/20 we didn't have to vacate until 3/27. I was told that I was being charged $300+ for a late vacate notice as well as other fees as trash bulk removal and a carpet cleaning fee that extended the amount I was told would be charged. Ass well as two processing fees. Which I didn't understand it was a mailed piece of paper. When I called the office in question of all these inaccurate charges they had put on my account they told me that I did put in my renewal notice in time and that that was a mistake. When I asked to speak to the manager of the office I was told that she was in a meeting and would get back to me. I never heard back from her and have tried to call on numerous occasion as well as my roommate. They keep telling us that they we get back to us. But no one ever does! read more

I have been the university square for two years. I moved out because the black guys on upper level are very noisy. They are noisy guys and keep making noise all the night, walking and shouting. The woody floor sounds very thin. I was often woken up in the middle night (2-4am) to knock my ceiling. When they take shower, huge noise is made from tap. The other thing I don't like is the apartment keep increasing rental every year. I got increase by 8% in the first year and 18% in the second year. Other people also told me that they have to move out after 2 years because of increasing rental. read more

I preface my review with I've been a resident for 15+ years, so I know the highs and lows of this complex. Let's get started. Amenities: Pool, tennis court, basketball court, and work-out room. A family room to rent for special occasion. Management: This is the heart of customer service for every apartment complex. I have watched this office go from a team of Caucasian professionals who aimed to serve their residents to an all African American staff who are quick to say what cannot be done. In addition, this all African American staff talks about personal issues (aloud and across offices) while customers are present--embarrassing to my race. When I first moved here, I was treated with respect--now, I am treated as property. There is little time to plan for maintenance notices--people are not considered. And, if work is being done in your building, prepare yourself to be embarrassed by the mess left in the hallway. The office will quickly tell you that your home begins inside your unit. The Super joined the team some years ago and he, too, will quickly tell you what cannot be done because of budget constraints. The Super is Hispanic and rarely hires other races to do maintenance work--many cannot speak fluent English, which is challenging when an issue is encountered. Whatever happened to the diversity in Greenbelt! Grounds: Oh what immaculate grounds they used to have. It was a joy to ride home through the entrance to see the beautiful flower bed. This flower bed was changed several times doing the year--impressive. This flower bed no longer exist, as well as, the lush grounds. A few bushes and flowers remain, but they are overshadowed by bald grass throughout. The former mulched edged trees are nothing more than dead trees that shed limbs daily. Every morning you could count on hearing the blower that was used to pick up the tree debris and trash--now, I just awaken to the debris, dog feces, and trash. Units: These apartments are some of the largest units around. You will not find apartments with eat in kitchens and formal dining rooms. They even have large walk-in closets (master and hallway) and dens. This is the plus side of the unit. The downside is as follows: thin walls--you can hear everything; inefficient energy--expect to pay $150-$300 in electric during the summer; cheap appliances; cheap carpet. In attempt to stay up with the market, units are undergoing a major renovation, which includes washer and dryers in the unit. This sounds good, right? Wrong! While convenient, the spin cycle shakes everything in your unit. I can sit on my sofa and feel the vibrations. Oh, you think this is coming from my washer? Think again. It is the neighbor's washer underneath. It is worse when I wash. I have to move things to avoid them from falling on the floor or making noise--yes, the stove, cabinet doors, dishes, and glasses shake with annoying noise. Neighbors: The neighbors were great over the years with a few hiccups. There was diversity in each building, but not now. A new breed is moving in. When I asked the office about this, I learned that corporate is allowing people with bad credit to lease a unit if they can come up with double or triple the rent. Needless to say that the former neighbors who had a mind-set of respect and care no longer exist. I understand that one may fall on hard times where credit scores aren't the best, but when your neighbors are sitting in the hallway, slamming doors, talking loud, using profanity, smoking marijuana, having frequent police visits, and showing a blatant disregard for the rules in the lease, it's time to go. People will play car music loud, set up carpet and tents on the lawn, and use their own personal grills to have cookout. Never was this conduct allowed. In fact, the office used to perform regular inspections to ensure that leaseholders were in compliance. Maintenance: Maintenance is poor, and in many cases, it is nothing more than covering up issues. I can give you many examples, but I'll share two: Maintenance changed my locks and the cylinders do not align right. Consequently, I have to align the door to lock or unlock it. When I brought this to maintenance attention (before they left), I was told to just jiggle it--in other words, it's good enough for rental property. The tub wall is ajar and is nothing more than a cover up of mold. I just keep pouring bleach behind it to protect myself. Maintenance response times: please don't have an emergency. Routine maintenance is routinely 3-5 days with several reminders. Trash Dumps: Since morning clean-up no longer exist, trash will be around the dumpsters. And of course, I have seen rodents. The upside is that there are several dumpsters strategically placed around the complex, so they are rarely overflowing. A word of caution though, you may have to live a couple of days with furniture at the dumpster, which can be an eyesore. read more

I just moved out October 2015. I do not have much bad to say, but I don't have much good to say either. The office staff is friendly but I feel that they can be lazy and don't have much follow through when you contact them, I asked to do a final walk through with them when I moved out, and because the property manager was out they couldn't do it, needless to say I still have not been contacted to do so and she was supposed to be back a few days ago (thank goodness I watch enough court shows to do a video right before I turned my keys in). Another MAJOR issue is parking, they assign us parking passes but there are a large amount of cars that park overnight without passes. I lived there for 1 year and NEVER saw a tow truck at my old community I would see them daily as they took the parking situation seriously, who wants to park on the street or 2 streets down when you have groceries, it's raining, snowing, or late at night? I also had a problem with maintenance entering my apartment when I hadn't requested services (that happened twice that someone "called in" but I live alone and didn't call). But again there are some positives, the apartments are VERY spacious (I had a 1 bedroom), all of my appliances were new and I had a washer/dryer in my unit (and one in the building still), I didn't have rodents or roaches maybe the occasional spider (I lived on a ground unit) maybe I just lived in a good building but my neighbors were SUPER friendly and there was 0 crime near my unit or otherwise as far as I could tell (if you live in PG county you know that can be a bit of an issue). Also, everything was about 20 minutes away you were right in between 295 and 495 and if you knew the back roads most times you didn't have to get on the highway. read more

If I could give this place a 10 out of 5 I would. They helped me and my wife out in the biggest way. First off, the location is excellent and an absolutely beautiful place to live. We were walking distance from the lake which is gorgeous if you like a scenic area, and there was also a really nice park walking distance from our apartment. Second, we had a big issue where we had to move in a hurry and Portia, Matt, & Delencia at the front office were all AMAZING in helping us move out with almost zero hassle. It used to be good. But no more. Rent is higher than other apartments in the area. Poor management. Water charge too much. No school bus. Increased the rent 7% after one year. You need to go to office multiple times to fix any issue. read more

Apartment is great. It is renovated, and spacious. The problem is lots of residents smoking marijuana in front of the Bldg. Most of them are teenagers... they don't study or work, then they loitering in front of the Bldg all day long... These people get high and then disturb the place. In addition, they bring some guests to smoke Marijuana inside the car in front of the Bldg. I am always calling Greenbelt Police... Leasing center just says me to call the police and the police says me they can't do something because Maryland state is allowing people to smoke marijuana... Well, I can't be in a place where we constantly live with addictive people smoking drugs in front of my balcony disturbing the place. This is not a good example for kids. Recently Greenbelt Police came to catch 7 (SEVEN) people in the Bldg 223. I am not feeling safe living in this community.... Actually I am freaking out, because in my opinion there is a gang around... I don't see leasing center doing too much to fix this situation. Maybe because they prefer to keep addictive people around instead of residents that are respectful.... read more

I have lived in University Square since the end of February and the apartments are spacious, the rental office staff and maintenance staff have been responsive and professional. When ever I've had a maintenance issue it has been taken care of quickly. I've never had to wait more than 2 days for a non-emergency. I have not seen any roaches, rodents or other bugs. Technically, there is plenty of parking, but not in front of your building. read more
