Besides the layout and beauty of the Garden itself, it is a wonderful way to experience the softer side of Paris. Despite April overcast and rainy weather, walking through the Park was uplifting as always. Tulips greeted us when we entered through the Gay-Lussac entrance. Once in the Park, we found more flowers and trees in bloom. Beyond Les Voiliers du Luxembourg -- an octagonal fountain for sail boats at the focal center if the Gaeden -- we walked through a canopy formed by rows of chestnut trees. It was great staying within a few blocks of Le Jardin du Luxembourg and visiting daily.

Ambiance - 25 hectare, beautifully landscaped. There is a French and English part, I did not know and sadly probably would not be able to tell the difference. Rose garden, statues, etc. Kid friendly - A merry go round, slides, play areas, etc. Restaurant, snack kiosks, etc. Service - Self service. Price - The garden is free. Benches, trees, paved paths, it's a very nice little park. A nice little rest as you're going from hotel to the restaurant area of Roissy-en-France. This is exactly why it's worth a visit - add something a bit different to your Paris trip. Landscape design is outstanding - you will find an artificial lake, a grotto and waterfalls. One of the two bridges was designed by Gustave Eiffel. The park is hilly and you can enjoy amazing views of Paris from different points. One of the highest points is Temple de la Sibylle (50m above the lake). You can see Basilique du Sacré-Cœur de Montmartre from here. This place is great for running - you can do flat circles around the lake or hilly runs everywhere, there are some 8 kilometers of roads and paths. One of the three restaurants, Rosa Bonheur, is really popular, it may take an hour of waiting to get in on weekends. You can find 5 areas with free Wi-Fi in the park. There's a renovation going on in the park from 2013 till 2016, some areas may be closed (Temple de la Sibylle is closed at the time of writing).

Exploring the area, I found this gem of a Parc. I love exploring where the locals go for relaxation and where they eat. After a tasty meal nearby, my friend Mats flew in from London and we explored this lovely park. We mostly stayed under the tree lined paths because it was a hot day. For a park, we were here on a Wednesday around 2pm, lots of people looking like they are having a siesta or a break from work. Everyone seemed friendly, kept to themselves. The park is rich with different plants, trees and flowers. We hiked up to the highest point, from here you have an observation look out on the rooftops of Paris and a gorgeous view of Sacre Coeur. On the way to the top, you get to cross a bridge and below is a little lake. Some parts are rather steep, go at your own pace and bring a bottled water on a hot day and a plus if you wear a hat. Every turn you go into this park had something appealing. If you look at my images, there is also a cave. During raining season, the cave has a waterfall in it, it's very pretty. Plenty of grass room to have a picnic, take a nap or read a book. If you opt for something else, lots of park benches that faces the lake. A wonderful oasis in the heart of Paris. On our first visit, we accidentally stood on some grass for a photo, but were gently told by the park attendents that we were not supposed to. Once these graciouus ladies realized we were from outside of France, they permitted my wife stand on the grass for our first photo is Paris. What a Joy!!!

The flowers in mid-April were beautiful to see, with huge peonies, lots of tulips, crocuses, wisteria on the Japanese bridge, and other spring blooms. This also seemed to be a good time to visit as it gets more packed during the summer. Tip: Rather than doing a bus tour, it was fairly easy to simply take the SCNF train to Vernon. From Vernon, there are regular shuttle buses directly to Monet's garden for 5 Euros each way (10 Euros round trip), so it is very straightforward. The train from Paris to Vernon leaves from Gare St. Lazare. Also, if you do go via train to Vernon to get to Giverny, there was an adorable cat cafe there for lunch: Cookie's Cat Cafe!

We only had to do it for the transportation from Paris to Versailles. We went through the house first, because later in the day, the line for the house can get long. The house had interesting decor and colors, and a TON of Japanese artwork, which he fancied. I enjoyed checking out the old school kitchen. There are some paintings of his in the first room, of both of his wives. The garden was magnificent. They have a path that has directions. You can't just go anywhere you want. Some areas are blocked off. Workers were busy pulling weeds etc. There is a Japanese garden that isn't too far to walk. That was very peaceful. It surrounds a lake with lily pads. Very picturesque. Summer is a great time to visit because lots of things are in bloom. Later, the sunflowers will bloom. So each season has its own stars. I have heard winter time isn't fantastic for flowers, which makes sense. So I would say spring summer and fall are best for the gardens.

We entered Le Petit Trianon and straight away followed the outdoor path to the Temple of Love. We contined on to the Queens Hamlet; a wonderful walkable and lovely stroll that takes you back to another time. There are rustic cottages that guests of the Queen stayed in upon her invitation. Herbs and vegetables grown in the gardens were used for meals. Ilthe property also included a dairy. There are waterways and unique and prized trees planted throughout. We spent more than half of the afternoon exploring this area, so we had run out of time to go inside Le Petit Trianon! Its only opened from 12pm-5:30pm, so it would be best to plan ahead according to what you want to see. There is so much to explore! We enjoyed this more than dealing with the crowds at Versailles. Take the little train one or both ways, ( stops at the grand canal, and Le Grand and Petit Trianon) which was 9 euros when we visited in Feb 2026. Be sure to find out beforehand when the last little train leaves, as we missed it. Its about a 30 minute walk back to the Palace from Le Petit Trianon.

You can rent a golf cart or hop on a mini-train, but if weather permits, the walk is not bad at all. Mom and I came here as part of our day trip to Versailles, and we both loved visiting these little chateaux. While they are both a good bit smaller than Versailles, each is quite grand (in every sense of the word). Mom and I especially enjoyed seeing the furnished rooms and beautiful views from the windows. Warning: the signage is not particularly extensive, so it's easy to get turned around. It's not the end of the world (the gardens are lovely as can be), but do plan for a bit of wandering. Enjoy the peace. Side note: definitely visit the Queen's Hamlet. It's super fun: imagine an interpretation of a small English village, complete with thatched roofs.

The richness of the flavor and the texture which is not reminiscent of the traditional roasted duck or foie gras, but rather a much more like a luxurious and indulgent version. We enjoyed our dinner on the outside of the restaurant after about a 20-30 minute wait. The bone marrow had the best flavor I've experienced for the dish. However, it is definitely overshadowed by the rich flavor of the foie gras. This experience was unforgettable, with our view of Parisian streets on a brisk, April night. We even came back on our last night, but didn't realize the hours on Google maps was for the deli. The restaurant closes earlier, before 9:00 PM. This meal got us thinking about Paris in a positive light, and we hope to be able to come back to eat the amazing dishes again!

As a Chinese, I understood more than 50% of the conservations (Chinese). Which doesn't mean anything about the food. Just observation. Onion soup - 2 stars. First, the cheese failed to emit the baked, melted gruyere cheese, there is no aroma at all. I don't think they used gruyere cheese. May be mozzarella cheese. The worst part was the bread in the soup. It tasted stale which ruin the flavor of the soup. I had to finish without the bread. Escargot - Another disappointment. What made escargots special was the garlic butter and herb. Here, there were the herbs, no garlic, and French is famous with their butter but I taste oil but not buttery. Other places I actually get excited dipping the bread into the garlic butter but not here. Pan seared Foie gras - The quality of Foie Gras was definitely there. It's not as well seared as I hope but they managed to cook it through without overcooking it. The size of Foie Gras is kind of scary, it's like a small piece of rib eye steak. With just the onion soup and Foie Gras, I could barely swallow anything. Generous portion.
