There is an older gentleman who you may have to get through in order to speak to her (slightly rude and judgmental), but just ignore him and make your way to Catherine. I understand they keep the store locked due to the value of their items however I still find it rather odd to have an 'appointment only' policy for other's used items. The bags there are overpriced and the selection was rather numb. It became very clear that he decided he didn't want to sell anything to us. May the situation have been different if I would have been stroking around with my €3900 Louis Vuitton bag? It simply should not make a difference. If there is a person genuinely interested in buying something, likewise myself who had anticipated for the visit to this store, they should be served equally. Ironically most of the bags are rather overpriced, considering the amount of wear they have. You are better off buying a new Chanel bag. Not worth the visit to ruin the day. I want to make sure that everyone knows what this woman did: My best friend and I went to Paris this month. It was wonderful. Everyone was friendly, helpful, and polite. My friend wanted to find a vintage Chanel bag, and everyone said that Catherine B was the place to go. We found it, and she does have lovely things. The store was just what we had hoped for and my friend ended up buying a beautiful bag. When she completed the purchase, she asked Catherine for the paperwork to fill out for the tax refund at the airport. Catherine replied that she didn't have the paperwork and we would have to get it at the airport. Both my friend and I said that we had read that the boutique is supposed to provide the paperwork before we get to the airport. She said no, that was not the case, and we'd find the tax refund station at the airport and fill it out there. So, with that we thanked her and left. Well, a few days later at the airport, we find out that the business owner is legally bound to provide that tax refund paperwork at the time of purchase. The airport doesn't provide it and the tax refund kiosk doesn't provide it. She screwed my friend. The tax refund comes out of her pocket and she lied to make sure she didn't have to pay. She figured she could fool a couple of young girls, particularly American girls. She's a crook. My friend should have had a few hundred dollars coming back to her, but because this woman took advantage of her, she couldn't collect. Now that we're home we're planning a visit to the French Embassy here in San Francisco. Very rude & arrogant. Came fully intending to make a purchase- in fact i came back twice because the first time they were closed- only to interact with the most condescending & rude man who clearly was miserable. I guess they make enough money with their "elite clientele" that they don't need my money. I took a metro all the way across Paris only to be greeted by the most rude and dismissive "salesman" who couldn't be bothered to put down his cigarette long enough to actually show me the vintage Chanel bag I came in to purchase! I've lived in Paris a long time, but this is the most unpleasant and infuriating shopping experience I've had in quite some time. The whole encounter was just....surreal. Why bother having a luxury vintage shop if you intend to treat customers with such disrespect? Too bad for Catherine. I had been looking forward to visiting Catherine B for weeks and purchasing a Chanel jewellery piece as a memento of my first trip to Paris. I have just had a horrendous experience with the male assistant and can only echo the other comments listed here, except that mine has left me out of pocket 250 euro. None of the necklaces appealed to me so much that I was prepared to spend 2000+ euro so I settled on a nice pair of grey and green Chanel earrings. When I went to pay however, the man claimed my credit card did not work. This seemed very odd as it has worked everywhere else in Paris, there was definitely enough money on it, and he wouldn't give me a receipt showing it had been rejected. I looked on my bank account online and sure enough, the money HAD come off my card. When I showed him this, things really escalated. He started shouting at me, showing me unrelated receipts in French from earlier purchases as if they meant anything to me, belittling the size of my purchase and calling my bank "bullshit". He went through the "20 years in the business" spiel somebody else here describes. I became very upset and uncomfortable, especially because the door was locked and I couldn't get out without him letting me. There was nothing I could do to convince him so I left. Sure enough, when I called my bank upon getting back to my hotel they confirmed the payment was successful. I'll either have to convince Catherine B to post the earrings to me, or challenge the transaction when I get back to Australia. I was so excited to come to this shop but was quite disappointed. The shop is very tiny where the bags are housed. Perhaps approx 10ft by 10ft big to give you an idea. That would be ok but the bags themselves are pretty tattered even for vintage/used. I was only looking at the chanel bags but I didn't stay long because it was very uncomfortable and unpleasant. First because the shop keeper was so close to me while I looked at the bags on the shelf. But mostly because I felt like I was going to suffocate in that room. There was no ventilation and it smelled like someone had chain smoked in there forever. I wanted to throw up and I used to smoke! I couldn't have left that room fast enough. I had briefly walked by the store and spotted a vintage Chanel bag I loved; but the store appeared closed. I had gone back and both doors were locked. I knocked and knocked and finally a man answered. I said "oh my god thank you!." He responded "for what you're only coming in if you plan on buying something." Not only was that rude, but I HAD had anticipated buying two Hermes scarfs and two bags. Then he refused to let the two males I was with in until I "was ready to use their credit card." Despite loving so many items in there, he continuously was rude and acting as if I could not afford anything in the store. Don't bother! This is my first review on Yelp and I just had to let everyone know about this place! I'm sure Catherine B is great and my experience would have been much different had she had been there BUT in her place was the worst man in the world! I was specifically searching for a Chanel jacket. Look, I own two Chanel jackets, 2 Birkins and a Kelly all that I purchased retail at the respective stores, so I was willing to pay up for something that "sung" to me. This man was next door at the accessories store, the locked clothing door had a sign that said go next door to accessories so I did. I politely said "bonjour, parlez-vous Anglais" which he did. I explained I wanted to see the Chanel jackets. As I looked around the accessory room, he asked are you sure you don't want to look here first. I said "no I'd like to look at the jackets first" bc my first goal was scoring a jacket. Went next door didn't see anything fabulous, prices seemed to range from 2k euros to 5k, not worth it in my opinion. They were are all black and white and none with a collar which is what I was looking for. I asked if there were any others and he said flabergasted "you mean you can't find anything out of these!?" I said nothing was really calling out to me but I would be in town through the end of July. Looking at a few other items I saw a decent condition Barenia Birkin for 12k euros (I think overpriced for the condition) and a Chanel leather jacket for 4.2k euros. Then I went back to the jackets to look one last time. I then asked if I could go back and look in the accessories store. My thinking was that I didn't see a jacket, but I was certainly interested in the Hermes CDC bracelet I saw in the window or one of the the Jige clutches. His response was "Jesus Christ we were just over there, are you kidding me!" Yes those exact words! I should also note probably about 15 minutes had passed since I had walked into either stores, so it's not as if I was wasting his time and I'm pretty sure on a Tuesday at 10am he didn't have anything better to do, and the other store is 10 steps away from where is was standing, right next door! I was kind of shocked but replied "you know what, nevermind, thank you so much." And he replied "thank you." I would much rather pay 5k plus euros for a new Chanel jacket at the Chanel store than to ever deal with this place. There's something about being aloof, but there's something about being downright nasty!! Yesterday I was at this store. Believe me I am used to French aloofness and don't get bothered much by it. While I was browsing through the collection, there was a woman behind me who was interested in a Hermes bag. She asked the owner for a store card and a pen to jot down the price. The owner looked at her and asked, "What? Do you have Alzheimer's that you can't even remember the price of a bag?" The woman was in shock and replied, "Um, no, I don't have Alzheimer's, but my mother does, and she is getting treated for it." She and I exchanged a look of shock and disgust, when the owner even went on further to say, "Oh, I just thought that you may have Alzheimer's because you can't even remember the price of a bag..." and kind of giggled. I can't explain more how this owner and store disgusts me. Having nice stock is one thing, but going this far is downright repulsive, and this attitude should be reputed by NOT VISITING. read more

I Walked up to him to see why it was closed and he made the comment he sold vintage Chanel and that it was more expensive then the Chanel at the store. I visited this store in June after reading several reviews singing it's praises. After reading about their extensive Hermes and Chanel selection, it was my first shopping destination upon arrival in Paris. Unfortunately, my experience was awful! The sales people were extremely rude. I was mostly interested in the Hermes Kelly and Birkin bags. The prices were equal to or more than that of the actual boutiques, and I privately questioned the authenticity of many of the bags. One of the women would not even get anything out for me and just recited prices. Needless to say my family walked away without buying anything. It was an unexpected horrible beginning to what became a wonderful vacation. My advise is to go straight to the boutiques where you can be assured that the items are authentic and the staff is polite, friendly and very helpful. read more

In our case our 'Catherine' was a grumpy unplaisant dedain guy who, I presume, did not think highly of us in whatever norms he was judging people. Or do I even say, depending of what race you are (assuming who has the deepest pockets he can empty, is my guess). After reluctantly helping us and nearly forcing an early buy ("I leave in 5 minutes"), this is clearly not a place where you search your precious Chanel. Buying a Chanel or Hermes is a sales process which should be totally different when buying a H&M or Zara purse. Yes, they do have a very nice collection, but the heart and soul for their products is far away. Instead of being further talked down to and paying nearly as much for a bag in not that good of a state, I took my wallet to an actual Chanel store and bought myself a new one. For a couple of euros more I at least got treated correct and with good advice on their products. Bottom line: DO NOT GO HERE!!!! Not worth the trek to find this place, not much cheaper than the retail stores and not worth the savings to deal with bad attitudes and a bad taste in your mouth. They may have good merchandise inside but they don't let you into the store without an "appointment" although the store is empty and the man was standing outside with the store door open. There is nothing on the site or on any internet sources that any appointments need to be made ahead of time. But to give them the benefit of the doubt, we ask to make an appointment, he precedes to look us up and down and makes a remark that their merchandise is very expensive and not cheap (although we are carrying purses and shopping bags from a couple of other luxury brands). I remark "I know" and stop myself from ruining my trip. Skip this store and head over to the other vintage stores in the city (there are plenty) and visit the actual Hermes and Chanel boutiques where I had very pleasant experiences! read more
