I am not even sure how to begin. We actually had a two-floor suite which was basically the tower of a medieval estate, set in a beautiful woods!
The suite was beautiful, clean, and very well maintained.
The owners, Jean and Hélène, have a wonderful breakfast for the guests every morning. This is no ordinary "continental breakfast," but rather a very full country breakfast with several courses.
In the evening, there is an aperitif - including types of liquor which were entirely knew to me, including Floc de Gascogne (highly recommended!).
Hélène is exceedingly knowledgeable about the Gers/Armagnac/Côtes de Gascogne regions. She provides advice for day trips, restaurants, vineyards - and most importantly Armagnac distilleries. And she is an expert on the subject of Armagnac, which is not surprising since she grew up in an Armagnac distillery. Hint: don't mention "mixed" or artificially-branded Armagnacs in her presence :)
There is no better base for an Gers/Armagnac/Côtes de Gascogne based vacation than Les Bruhasses.
And no less important - our stay in the tower of a medieval estate cost less per night than a room in a mediocre hotel elsewhere in France. read more
