Just going into the bakery area, seeing hundreds of breads set up beautifully and a line out the door to get them, already sets the tone: this is a true bakery worthy of it's name. The staff is kind, really hospitable and is true to the typical Belgian conviviality. The price is right and what I particularly loved is that they have an upstairs area (much quieter) where I had scheduled an interview. The line at retail can be slow and the bathrooms need some love but it's all worth it in the end. This is one of my favorite brunch spots in Brussels especially on a sunny day on the terrace!!

I had bookmarked Le Pain Quotidien, but hadn't expected to get to try it. We accidentally ran into…read morethis one trying to get out of unexpected hail and to wait it out. The staff was rather curt off the bat which I imagined was due to us as we weren't sure about the going-ons of ordering-- do we sit, do we order at the bar... yadda yadda.~ (You sit & pay later at the bar.) Anyways, we were trying her patience, I think, and for that, we are sorry. Still though. Still. We got 2 cappuccinos, a lemon tart, muffin, and a fresh lemonade with mint. I really should have heeded the overheard conversation from the guy near me. He had ordered the lemonade with mint before me and thought it needed sugar or more sugar... anyways, fresh lemon juice indeed. That drink will make you burly. After the conundrum of just getting seated I wasn't even going to bother asking for sweetner. The drink was pretty though... I toughed that one out, but not sure if it helped my thirst any. On top of my lemon juice my mother couldn't finish her lemon tart and pushed it onto me... I weep inside. Dare I show any weakness. Our third companion though seemed to have the ordering business down and enjoyed her choices. Which for that I'm glad. I think overall Le Pain Quotidien isn't half bad. The food really looked good and if the lemonade had been sweetened at all it would have been a lovely drink. Atmosphere was relaxing too. A-okay.

I am a huge fan of brunch and Oma does brunch fantastically…read more I stayed in an Airbnb just outside of Brussels and the owner of the apartment recommended Oma for weekend brunch and I am so glad that he did. We woke up a little later than planned and hoped that by the time we walked over the place wouldn't be completely full. Thankfully we arrived just in time and were seated right away. The layout of the restaurant is adorable! The wallpapers, lights, tables, and everything else gave the restaurant a laid-back and comfortable vibe. We opted to get the €17 per person brunch buffet. There were cold cuts, cheese platters, yogurt, waffles with butter and jam, salads, pastas, eggs, sausages, soup, desserts, fruits, and much more. The buffet came with your choice of a hot drink (tea, coffee). I thought that everything tasted amazing and it was just a very happy meal. I highly recommend it for brunch in Brussels! The only negative aspect is that it was still hard to justify the price, but it was still worth it!

The food was varied: on the one hand there was the traditional stuff for breakfast (eggs, ham, cheese, bread) and in addition there was a mix of salads/pasta.. These were nice but nothing special (some of them felt like they came out of a tin and were mixed with some herbs/spices) . thats not to say it was a bad culinary experience- no, overall it was fan, but I have eaten better quality food in Brussels. However price- food ratio you really can't complain.
