I do not believe this is the location we visited, ours was closer to the train station in Rue de l'Ecuyer. Even so, I do not want to miss the chance to rave about some of the items we picked up for our travel back to the UK. This place is around the corner from our hotel and we didn't go in until our last day, just before heading to the train station to begin our journey back. We grabbed a few items for the ride: a few delicious, flûte aux olives and mini gratiné feta olives. We also got our meaty friend one of these mini gratiné with some sausage in it. No idea if it was good, but ours were delicious. They were not even warmed up and were simply perfect. The staff was kind and helpful. I will be thinking about these for a long time to come and will 100% make a special trip to this place to try other items should I return to Brussels some day. My only regret is that we did not come in here sooner. read more

Somewhere in the middle of the pack as relates to variety, the choices on all sides not 'limited' but alo not as vast as Patisserie de Baere or Le Saint Aulaye, those arriving at La Fleur du Pain during early morning hours are likely to find breads and viennoiserie still warm from the oven and although Pastry selections apparently expand by midday, there are still several including some larger format options ready for take-away. On par for price to other local artisans, the seven items purchased just under €17, paying attention proves beneficial at La Fleur du Pain as there are not one, but two, styles of Almond Croissant offered, the single baked version wispy like a traditional Croissant aux Beurre while the other was sliced and filled with almond paste with a crown of even more sliced nuts toasted on with frangipane, both great with the choice as to which was better really a personal sort of thing. Showing a good degree of butter by way of the escargot coiled around melting bits of Dark Chocolate, La Fleur du Pain continues to shine when it comes to the use of Fresh Fruits over laminated all-butter pastry in any number of shapes, the Apricot version perhaps a bit soggy by way of cream while both Tarts were textbook with edges slightly charred. Known for their breads, a whole loaf wasteful for just one with a few smaller sizes available, it was on the recommendation of a middle-aged woman standing in line that a small "Triple Chocolate" roll was selected, the texture something like that of a rustic country loaf speckled with Dark and Milk Chocolate pieces while the crumb itself infused with infused with unsweetened cocoa allowing bitter notes to balance the sweetness. read more

La Fleur du Pain has a couple locations, but the only one i've been to is the one on Place Flagey. There's almost always a line, and for good reason too! Their bread is baked in the back, and their baguettes are very good. Although they are not quite as good as Renard's, which just a 10 minute walk away. One thing I really enjoy from this bakery is their bread with chocolate, raisins, and nuts. It's small, but filling and delicious! For the size, it's pretty expensive at a little over €2, otherwise I would get one every day! They also sell a black baguette made of charcoal which tasted like a normal baguette to me, but it's supposed to help with digestion or something. read more

Excellent bakery at Place Flagey. Maybe it is because I am from the Netherlands where it is impossible to get real quality baguettes and croissants, but their bread blows my mind every time. The baguettes are made fresh here all the time and often they are still warm when you buy them. They are as they should be: crispy on the outside, soft and doughy on the inside. The mini gratins are to die for. The chorizo has been my favourite for a while because of the cheese crust but the feta & olive is moving up in the ranks. No matter what, it's great. read more

Very small but lovely bakery at Flagey's heart. I mostly came here for a simple chocolate eclair. By later in the day they are typically out of a lot of their stock, but if you come early you'll find various choices of daily baked breads at a good quality. I typically found the service to be quick and timely and with no issues. The eclairs were among some of my favorite on my trip as well. The texture of the choux was always spot on and the filling was light and airy. A refreshing pastry altogether and something I actually rather miss. Definitely a worthy little bake stop if you're feeling some sweets or fresh bread. read more

My rating is purely based on what I ate yesterday for brunch, because (for now) I have not set foot inside this bakery (my wife had the honor). But let me tell you, after all the goodies I sampled... I am going back for sure. The "baguette" is crispy on the outside just like it should be, the soureness is just right as well. After tasting the "baguette" with some duck mousse, I thought to myself...hummmmmm promising. And I pursued with the croisants, the pain au chocolat, and the whole wheat bread. And they were all perfectly aligned in the category: Oh Yeah! And the best part is (but this is really selfish), it is develishly close to home :-) But even if you live a little further away, make the effort at least once to give it is a shot! As for the 5th star, I will have to experience the service myself to judge it ;-) read more
