    Came with our small tour group for a tasting at this wonderful Market. All types of food on offer. We were presented with an assortment of typical Lyonnaise dishes to sample. Apparently this is where locals go to pick up top quality food. We were served by an individual who talked us through the offerings. Afterward we strolled around and you literally could have stayed here and eat all day. Apparently some folks do that. The place is the brainchild of the late Paul Bocuse world renowned chef. Well worth a stop if you are in town. Mark & Nancy.

    Nice market. Big with a lot of well known expensive restaurants with a small presence. High end pastries, sweets, meat, seafood, wine, etc. nice little bar at the end that has been there for 50 years. Why there is all this nice food and fantastic restaurants and the toilettes are just terrible, no one seems to know

    I think it's a good thing that I don't live close by, because this place would be dangerous for my wallet! Everything you could possibly be want in terms of food and wine is most likely inside this indoor large food & beverage market. If you're staying in Lyon, it's a great place to shop for your food and wine in one spot. If I weren't dairy-free, I'd be obsessed with the number of local cheese vendors here. Actually, I AM obsessed even though I can't eat any of it. The quality and sheer amount of different types of cheeses at each cheesemonger is mind boggling! And don't even get me started on the pastries... SO many amazing pastries expertly created at a fraction of what we'd pay for them here at our local bakery in Portland metro. It's a great place to get some famous Lyon saucisson (sausage) and also the bright pink praline tarts that Lyon is known for. Some of the items are quite expensive compared to other small boutique markets around Lyon, but again, if you just want to get everything from one spot, it might be worth it so that you don't need to spend time running around town. If you have time, buy some fresh oysters and enjoy them at one of the wine bars or restaurants/cafes inside Les Halles. Then pick up some pastries for a picnic. Love this place so much!

    Clean, nicely laid out with three hallways. Many different vendors, including a few bakeries. It seems like each shop is very upscale and offers quality foods. It wasn't that noisy at noon on a Tuesday. Not many places to sit and eat, other than the dedicated restaurants on site.

    Every city I go to, whether it be domestic or foreign, I search for a food hall. I was super excited to experience this food hall because... Paul Bocuse. Unfortunately, this place kind of disappointed me. I wasn't expecting the restaurants to be open when we went because I did research and saw they closed early in the day but I wasn't expecting so many shops to be closed on a Tuesday at 330pm as well. The place looked a little defunct and like it would be derelict soon enough. There were stores open though and it was fun to stroll the aisles and look at stuff that we don't have in our city. I will agree that this place is geared way more toward "fancy" and "gourmet" so the price of things is incredibly high. 2 euro for one radish? I think not. I didn't end up buying anything because twice, yes TWICE, I stopped at a stand and said "bonjour" and the shopkeeper either just ignored me or walked away.

    An emporium of food for gourmets and gourmands alike! Fresh produce, fresh seafood, bakeries, meats, cheeses, wines, spirits, specialty foods, desserts, chocolates, bars, cafes, restaurants ... all under one roof and all paying homage to the great Lyonnais chef Paul Bocuse. Browse, gnosh, shop, and definitely have something to eat there. You gotta go!

    I was sad that so many booths/restaurants were closed. But what was open was still amazing. Super fun. So many cool options for eating there. And if we were shopping for home, or for souvenirs, it still would have been fantastic. Definitely worth the trip.

    Insane. Endless aisles of amazing food. Several restaurants are also inside. It blows my mind with the variety of vendors. Numerous seafood, cheese/delis, bakeries, fruit confit, and on and on. I need to come back with an empty stomach and grocery bags. Situated in a working class neighborhood and I did not note anything else of interest in the area.

    One stop shop for good food. I particularly liked the seafood stalls. You can eat oysters from around France, each species having their unique flavors. Small grocery shops, bread shops, dessert shops, prepared food shops, ect... Come early because some shops close earlier that others.

    Wow!! What an experience!! It was raining outside and we wanted to stay dry while exploring the city, so we ended up at Les Halles. This was such a great decision; our visit here was one of the highlights of our trip to France! Firstly, if you are here from out of town, I would recommend visiting on your first day. You will come across so many things to buy and eat/drink during your trip, you will want to make sure you have enough time to eat it all. Make sure to check the opening hours, as many stores start to close 30 minutes or more before closing time. Note that the shops are only open until 1 PM on Sundays. We stopped at one of the first restaurants in the center, and we were really glad that we did. They had amazing prosciutto and chorizo along with some excellent Spanish wine. The bread that came with the appetizer was also pretty fantastic. Once in the market area, you will find absolutely every kind of meat, cheese, bread, and seafood that you could imagine! I would recommend starting with a bakery, as many items do sell out as the day goes on. You can also grab a bottle of wine on your way out! There isn't a better place for charcuterie fixings and high-quality ingredients. I had a great time during my visit and I wish I'd had more time to eat all of the amazing cheeses I came across.

    I've traveled the world to visit famous food halls and this one was a surprising letdown. It's an okay market, but not one I would consider one of the world's best. You'd think in a culinary capital like Lyon that a food hall bearing famed chef Paul Bocuse's name would knock it out of the park, but it doesn't. The market is on the smaller side with your standard food stands (leaning heavy on the cheese). Many of the booths have similar offerings, making it quite repetitive to stroll around. There are a lot of sit down places but they obviously cater to locals because tourists weren't exactly welcomed with open arms. I do realize that's the "French way," but this was not a very friendly market. We wanted escargots and settled on a bar type establishment to enjoy our fresh snails with local wine. They were tasty of course. I also picked up a little cheese to enjoy back on the balcony at our hotel. Be forewarned that the prices are very high and there are no bargains to be found. Most of the food is on the "fancy gourmet" spectrum and the offerings are aimed at well-to-do locals. If you're in Lyon then by all means stop by and take a look, but foodies shouldn't plan an entire visit around this market. It's good, but far from great.

    Never mind Les Halles de Paul Bocuse…read more This is THE great gourmet market in Lyon. It is a massive massive street market on the banks of the Saone. Being on the river, it is as scenic as can possibly be imagined. The market goes on and on and on and on and on. Every kind of meat, every kind of fish, every kind of shellfish, every kind of vegetable, every kind of fruit, every kind of cheese, every kind of bread, every kind of pastry, every kind of spice, every kind of charcuterie, every kind of artisanal prepared food, Any thing you can think of in French cuisine: It's all here at the Marche Saint-Antoine. And they have it at multiple stalls - so you can pick and choose which vendor you like. Want to make pigeon stuffed with quince? They have the pigeon. They have the quince. Do you want fromage blanc made on the Savoyard model rather than following the Lyonnaise model? You have that option and six other choices as well. Have a French cookbook you read but can't use, since you can't find about a third of the ingredients? All those ingredients are at the Marche Saint-Antoine. The prices are very very reasonable. (The contrast with Les Halles de Paul Bocuse is particularly striking on the price issue.) If I lived in Lyon, I would set my cooking days to be the market days at the Marche Saint-Antoine ... Even if there was a perfectly good smaller market in my neighborhood.
