The concept is interesting--especially the use of umami, herbs, and French spirits like armagnac and calvados in creative cocktail builds--and the menu looks incredibly tempting. However, in execution, while the idea of layering savory umami notes with herbs and French spirits is clever, the drinks didn't quite come together in a way that felt balanced or as refined as expected from a bar of this reputation.
That said, the bartender was excellent and very accommodating. When we weren't fully happy with a drink, they proactively offered to change it, which was a really nice touch and showed great hospitality.
The overall atmosphere is fantastic--intimate, stylish, and lively in a way that makes it a great place to spend an evening even if the drinks fall short.
Overall, it feels a bit overhyped. There are definitely better cocktail bars in Paris in terms of drink quality, even if this one wins on concept, creativity, and ambience.
