This was a delightful little Tapas Bar on the edge of St. Frederic Park (the village square that…read morefronts the main church of the same name) in the old part of downtown Drummondville, Quebec, Canada. We were driving from Quebec City to Montreal and Drummondville is just about half way, and since we have relatives from Drummondville we had to stop in. It has been years since we were here, yet the old downtown remains strangely the same with restaurants just changing names and food styles. Of note and not to be caught out of touch, Drummondville has hosted a Poutine Festival since 2008. Le Baboune, which opened in 2015, is the equivalent of a Tapas Bar and a Sports Bar rolled together; the food menu was two pages long while the drinks menu was seven pages; in addition there are always some daily specials listed on a blackboard. Nice long L-shaped bar on your left as you enter serving all sorts of libations, and a nice little patio area at the entrance with maybe 10 tables where you can dine alfresco when the weather co-operates (which I think is maybe two weeks a year in Canada). Every once in awhile Le Baboune has live music, and it is really a nice place for meeting up at night and on weekends for some relaxation. We arrived around lunch time - admittedly not their peak time - and shared: an Assiette de Fromage (3 star very nice cheese platter) and a Gnocchis (exactly what you know it to be, and 4 stars nicely done with green onions and Parmesan cheese). All in all this was a nice stopping point on our drive. The weather was co-operating so we ate outside. We will come again, although that might be awhile.
