Shall I compare thee to a California's Erewhon?…read more Y'all know I can be wowed by a fabulous grocery store. This one is surely opulent, but crowded out the wazoo. The North American section made me giggle. I grabbed some fancy French mustards and cookies to bring home for friends and family. Unsure if any locals actually come here or if it's ALL tourists. The layout was extremely confusing to me. Now, I'm sure there are some simply fantastic elements to this store that evaded me due to the sea of people inside. But, I think Erewhon had more going for it. Artistic, clean, bountiful displays of produce. More organization, better lighting, etc. I felt like I could actually see the products at Erewhon, whereas here I was fighting with a lot of noise.

The Maison Butter fridge gets a little hectic in the mornings and by end of the week it is very picked over. Stock varies, sometimes they don't have all flavors stocked. The prices here are higher, but it is a bigger shop with more varied gourmet foods. If you want a one stop shop spot for french food to bring back to the US, this is it. They have vacuum seal bags for 1 euro for the butters (or cheeses!).
