I think what Abiqua gets right is the balance between a rigorous academic program and a holistic approach to understanding and nurturing the whole child. Whether your child is on the gifted end of the spectrum, somewhere in the middle, or needing additional support - the teachers have proven time and again they will "meet your child where he or she is at." It's not just lip service - we have lived this. We have considered moving out of the Salem area several times and two factors keep us here, one of which is the extraordinary education our children are receiving at Abiqua. I wish every single school in Salem provided the same experience - all children deserve this kind of education.

I went to Outlook Christian School for my junior and senior year of high school. It was an amazing…read moreexperience. The teachers are supportive, and are always willing to go the extra mile to help the students learn and grow. At Outlook, the parents are always filled in on what is happening with their student. The kids learn how to grow in their faith, but also as a family. They have art classes, wood working, basketball, VBS in the summertime, and days where the kids get to press their own apple cider. The list of activities goes on, and the love that is there at OCS is endless. They are accepting, and only wanting the best for each of the students. (For the high schoolers, there is a prom as well! Last year, they rented a limo, we ate at the rooftop of Basil and Board, did an escape room, and then took pictures on the bridge in downtown Salem).

He was below grade level in reading and math when we enrolled him and a year later is now above grade level in those subjects. Their Bible curriculum is solid (ACSI) and a biblical worldview is incorporated into every subject. The teacher student ratio is on average 1:10. Our grandson is a different kid since he switched to Outlook Christian from public school. We are very thankful this school.
