I was amazed at how she learned shading and working with still life. We learned of the classes from the Living Social ad. We tried it and continued. Loved it. Holt is great with kids. The children really enjoy her and love the atmosphere of being in an art studio.

She assisted, encouraged and joined in with us on the birthday celebration! This was our 1st time doing any type of pottery and we all loved it and will definitely be going back to do additional projects! Great Art Space! Went to their June Juried Show (opening and award ceremony) and saw some really…read morecool work. It was definitely a great mix of mediums from photography, to sculpture, to paintings, and mixed media. It was very interesting to meet some of the artists and see the work that won in their categories. It was also nice to see the camaraderie between the artists since the place really keeps to its "small town" roots and everyone was really familiar with each other and their works. They also offer classes and workshops along with studio space rental for artists and members. My one gripe is the lack of parking. There is a gravel lot out back, but if there is a first Friday or gallery opening, it's hard to find a space. The building they are in is very cool (renovated warehouse) and is right off the street - unfortunately the parking is meant for warehouse parking so they may remedy this in the future as they grow.

Classes are taught by the excellent Mark Gucciardi, a former teacher at the Florence Art Academy, teaching in the Florence tradition. He has a fabulous eye and never runs out of suggestions and techniques, yet he remains kind and encouraging. At first I wondered if this training would be a good idea, as I've always enjoyed making art that does not look classical. But what I've found is that my eye is getting better and that what I am learning here is strengthening my more abstract work. I also love that the artists taking the class are focused and dedicated, another source of inspiration. Most of them work full time, so the fact that they are making time for this activity shows a degree of commitment that is energizing to be around. Pascale Ropert runs the school with passion and intelligence.
