A friend found this sip & paint online as an option for her birthday. It stuck out because we liked the pricing options $15 just to hang out & still BYOB, $25 you can free style so no assistance, and $35 you can have the artist draw whatever you like just show a picture (these are online prices only as the price for drop in is different). You also don't have to do a canvas you have more options like a glass, baseball hat, wooden plaques or a tote bag. They even have clay you can sculpt and paint. Karaoke is also available. Upon arriving we were greeted by Kim who told us to sit anywhere. She got us started by checking us all in and seeing what each wanted to do. Everyone expect me did the assisted canvas painting and I choose to do a free style on a tote bag. It was such a great experience and Kim amazing! She was able to sketch all of their individual pictures that they showed her and answered any and all questions we had. I had a great time and will definitely be back! This is a much better option than your typical sip & paints where you all are painting the same thing, this gives a chance for everyone can choose what they like. And even though we ate before, loved that you can bring your own food or have food delivered as well. I enjoyed the time with my family. But as a person with NO artistic abilities staff offered NO guidance or suggestion. Never once stopped to help stayed at other table for extended times and multiple times. Not enough staff for unstructured activity. There were 8 tables with 15+ people. My party of 5 my granddaughter 21st birthday was so out of place I've never went to such a incompetent setting for $49 dollars. Collect your own unsanitary brushes , mix your own paint , barely any sketch to color because the owner's cannot provide decent tracings to paint missing details needed , you must collect your own stiff brushes and water. I purchased the pre sketched because my ability to draw is not the greatest. The lady with big glasses cannot draw. She drew the picture so damn light I couldn't see the drawing. She kept erasing because she was messing up so much. My husband is already artistic so he did his thing although she drew his light as well. Paint with a twist pre drew their pics with a marker. I hate a lot of their locations closed. The placed is a nice little spot but it's not worth the money. Lady needs to draw better!! They need new brushes and more colors. Visited City Art Room on a date...looking for something new to do. We purchased the instructed package which allows you to bring your own artwork to have sketched by the instructor on canvas. The sketch provides a guide for your canvas painting. Our instructor was great! She sketched our works onto the canvas with ease and provided suggestions on how to get started. City Art Room differs from other paint and wine locations, as they offer free-style and instructed options. If you get the instructed package you will have guidance. If not, you are own your own. Not a bad thing if you are looking for a space to be creative and relax! The space is very self-serve/DIY. You choose your own paints, brushes, mixing, etc. You can choose to paint canvas, wine/beer glass, clay or finger painting. This allows you to have many options in the event you choose to visit again. It is also a great space for parties or group gatherings. Space is limited; therefore, I would not recommend over 35 or so people (my estimation). I will certainly return! Had a great time! read more

Maaaaan Kim has some serious patience. Like forrreals. My mother and I had a mommy/daughter day. Spent the whole day hanging out (a bday gift for me) For $20 you have the option of painting on a glass mug or cup, bracelet, canvas, or you can sculpt/mold some clay and paint on it. I like the options because a lot of places just have the whole paint and sip thing, which is cute, but sometimes you wanna switch it up, ya know. So our session started at 4 pm. Sessions are an hour and a half, but uuuuuh yea we were there for like 2 1/2 hours. Sorry Kim! My mom was doing too much. She kept calling Kim to come and help. Kim sketched the drawing out for my mom, helped with the painting. Basically it was a collaborative effort when it came to my moms work. It's pretty dope too. Kim was mad patient though cause yeeeeaaa she had other people there and she was mad attentive when it came to everyone. She checked up on me providing me some tools. I did the clay joint. It came out pretty well. She started me off with a couple tips. Asked me if I needed help along the way. Kim is very nice. She also remembered my husband and I from 2 years ago before they set up the Art Room. She remembered I was pregnant. She remembered the painting my husband did. She also gave me a birthday gift. This was my first time doing paint and sip. I had a wonderful experience. The artist working was very accommodating to our big party (some that arrived late). I would definitely come back. Went here last weekend as a last minute thing to do for my cousin's birthday. The staff was nice. There was only one person working and it was quite busy but she handled it well. The music is free for choosing, which can get a little weird when you have one group who likes one thing and another group who likes another. Anyways, the place is comfortable. You bring your own food and drinks. They supply everything else. This place is ok, it can be better. Some of my group was running late and she did accommodate us. I'll probably try another place next time. I feel this place could be better.....maybe more staff and a set playlist as far as music, something more neutral. I came here for my birthday and I'm so glad I did!! It was absolutely an amazing experience and Kim (our artist) was so much fun! She was able to sketch all of our individual pictures and did it quickly! She even went over which parts to paint first and made it a paint by numbers! Whenever we asked she was available to show us various brush strokes for each effect our painting called for ie. Texture and shadowing. I went here with a friend for the paint and sip event, and I really like the space. What's cool about City Art Room is that you have private studios that you work in (granted you have to share with whoever else signed up for the same event), but it's pretty neat. They provide you with all of the tools you'll need: brushes, disposable aprons, paper towels, fans, etc. What makes it different from many of the other wine and paint venues is that you CAN BRING IN FOOD! Or you can HAVE FOOD DELIVERED! The space is really nice; can be a little hard to find but if you reach the the Rooms To Go outlet store on the left, you've gone too far. KIM is amazing and very helpful. For $20 you get 1.5 hours of fun, so go check them out! read more

The inside is very crafty. I ordered the sketch-pass.. $74 total. We arrived and was greeted immediately & seated. As the last guest to arrive, we received our drawings/sketch last. There was ONLY 1 artist/host to assist each guest. Our time was from 4p-5:30p. We got there by 4:07 and received our sketches by around 5p. We finally start painting.... The next host comes and the current host leaves... we are then rushed about 5:15p saying out time is done at 5:30, but will be given an extra 10-15 minutes. Thankfully we finished our art pieces, but this place needs more than 1 host per session as it shortens the time of the experience tremendously. Not worth the price. Customer service was descent as the host had to draw by herself for everyone, leaving minimum room for interaction or ability to ask us for drink orders...etc. first and last time. read more

I bought two tickets and a friend of mime bought two as well for a 6 pm class. We arrived at the place a few minutes early. Upon entering the business there is a party siting down, but there are still vacant seats. One of the employees tells my friends and I that the class was cancelled due to them double booking and that we received and email. He wrote our names down on the back of a paper plate for a refund. The email and refund were received at 6:06pm after the class was scheduled to start. Mean while the party had not yet had canvasses set up for their double booking. The other employee just walked away while the male employee was informing us of the companies unprofessional cancellation and inappropriate canceling. I traveled an hour and a half for the class and my friend traveled 45 minutes after having to make arrangements for a babysitter. An 8pm class was offered but we have a schedule built. I left a message for the company and had not heard back. Would not recommend this business 0/5. Try Wine and Design instead. read more

City Art Room made the planning process very simple and our instructor, April, was fabulous! We went in for instruction on pick- your-own painting. We arrived early with a painting picked out, but couldn't get started painting until 20 minutes past our scheduled time because the instructors were with other customers. The place was packed and there were only a couple instructors, they barely gave us any guidance at all and their advice didn't make sense and wasn't helpful. The supplies available were low quality with a very limited color selection that kept running out! Not to mention the long line and mangy brushes. The hour and a half session was too short to finish a painting considering the environment. Save your time and money and throw a painting party with your friends at home at half the cost. read more

My money went down the drain, after Groupon advertised for them, clearly a picture of someone painting and C.S. didn't offer any other deals for the misunderstanding & had the adasity to deny extending my offer as I enquired on the last day of validation of my Groupon. City Art Room is, by far, the best paint and sip studios around. I paid for a sketch pass, so I had a few options saved from Pinterest on my phone. The artist on duty. April, drew the image on my canvas and I used the supplies to add my own spin to it. The music selection was great, and I got enough nerve to sing karaoke! The class was laid back....I enjoyed the fact that everyone in our group walked away with their own creations, not cookie cutter versions of the exact picture like at the other studios I visited. They even offer a wide selection of wines, ciders, sake (try the plum sake, it's delicious!) and snacks at a reasonable price. An evening at City Art Room would be great for date night, girl's night, birthday or just because. A creative experience, personable and knowledge staff (April and Kim were awesome, by the way), and a prime, easily accessible location, right at the Boardwalk. I would highly recommend!! read more
