We had the delightful, educational, welcoming, fun packed experience to have Andreia Leal as our Tour Director. I won't this trip on a game show called Let's Make A Deal with Wayne Brady, so needless to say this was a once in a lifetime experience and opportunity for me. I was allowed to bring one person which was my teenage daughter Freddie Lynn and we paid for a third person, my Dad James to also come. After all, we would be spending Father's Day in Italy! Pretty amazing. From day 1 our tour was exquisitely planned and we were given full details of meet up times, daily activities and all we needed to know. We had a small group of 12 members so we felt comfortable and like a family straight away. Especially with Andreia giving us all the inside knowledge from her, not only being born in that area, but going back and being academically trained to get her degrees and exactly what she does. Our tour and time spent in Italy would not have been half of what it was without Andreia. She truly is a very special and kind human that I will treasure my time with her forever and wanted to let CIE Tours and its Management know what type of employees that they have in the field. Every single Ancient site, Farmhouse, Or activity that was planned for us was filled with history and education, along with a lot of fun activities and extra information. I truly felt part of the history and understood the current climates of the communities we visited, again; due to Andreia and the other guides within each city. I always felt safe and secure At each new location and Andreia Was always watching out and over us to ensure we were safe and kept together in a group. Which sometimes is not easy to do with so many beautiful sites to take in, everyone tends to wander off. Lollllll. Each day before we left each other Andreia would explain the next day and answer any questions we had. We always knew exactly where to be and what time to be there. The tour itself was beyond my imagination. All the ancient sites, architecture, history; it was breathtaking and humbling to know I walked the same steps and pathways as some of the greatest minds God has blessed our planet with. Our driver Mr. Silvio was always on time and again, most careful with the bus and passengers. He was a nice and funny guy too. There were bees near the last farm we visited and he fearlessly battled them as we entered the bus as to not have any of the bees enter as well. It was funny, we were all safe and no bees ended up in the bus, thankfully. I cannot thank you enough for having employees such as Andreia Leal. She is professional, kind, funny and made our entire tour memories we will never forget. I have been HIGHLY encouraging everyone who has asked about my trip to book with you because as much as I can describe and show photos, it does no justice to actually being there and experiencing that much history in one area! CIE did not warn of this possibility as I would have paid to upgrade my seat selection and claimed it was out of their control. Not happy with their response.

From the Viking hats they give you to the awesome guides who sing, joke, and interact with everyone, the whole experience is so much fun. Our guide was also incredibly knowledgeable, and we learned a ton about Dublin and Irish history without it ever feeling like a history lesson. And then we actually went into the water, which definitely captured our kids' attention! They were engaged the entire time, which after getting off a plane is really saying something. We loved every minute of it. At the end, our guide even took pictures with us, which was such a nice touch. Such an awesome and memorable way to start our time in Dublin. Our guide, Keith, was hilarious, energetic, and incredibly knowledgeable. He shared so much interesting history and information while keeping the entire tour entertaining from start to finish. The mix of sightseeing, humor, and the unique amphibious experience made this one of the highlights of our trip. If you're visiting Dublin and want a fun and memorable way to explore the city, I definitely recommend doing this tour!

They require you to have a student ID to get the discount but they never checked mine. I decided on the 5 day Celtic Rocker tour based on the limited time I had, but if I were to do it over again I probably would go with the 7 day that included Belfast and Northern Ireland. Everyone seemed to love that portion of their tour the most. The way this tour company works is that they join up the other tour groups and switch guides when you cross paths on the same route with another tour. We started out in a small group of 10 in Dublin, but ended up with about 20 more people meeting up in Galway. For a budget tour, I thought the sights and information provided to us by the local tour guides were excellent. We had Jaime and Gillian as tour guides and they were both excellent and offered great advice! It was mostly Aussies, Canadians, and Americans on this tour. Everyone became good friends which was aided on by all the fun social activities like pub crawls and nights out that everyone partakes in. Overall, really happy with my choice to book through Shamrocker. I hope to try their partner company´s tours in Scotland someday and in a few weeks will be going on the Busabout sailing tour of Croatia for 7 days.

Let's start with the good... - I was a fan of Giants Causeway, and we had plenty of time to explore the site. It was one of my favorite historic sites on the island. I recommend you take the time to climb the hill if you are able. - The bus was well kept and had USB charging ports. What I didn't like... - There is no lunch stop on this itinerary. Belfast was the spot where we could stop, but that didn't occur until much later in the day. - Not enough time was allowed in Belfast to explore the city. With only 60 minutes to explore the second biggest city on the island, we had to make the choice between a rushed tour of the town or finding something to eat. - We made a 45 minute stop with no real purpose at a tree lined lane. - The guide was my least favorite of my Irish excursion. He did not do well at ensure guests were aware of and following expectations.

We'd originally booked with Butler Tours and paid a deposit but had to cancel (and eat a penalty) when they couldn't provide a single bus for our group of 28. Elegant Irish Tours stepped in and assured us they could accommodate our group with a bus capable of accommodating 33 passengers, plus coolers for refreshments. We were relieved and excited -- this was a family reunion, and being together as one group mattered a lot to us. On the actual day, two smaller buses showed up instead of the one we were promised. This split our group and was a real disappointment for an event centered on togetherness. We called the office right away and got no support or concern in return. With no alternative offered, we had no choice but to continue with our day as best we could. The bigger issue came after we returned home. I called twice and got nowhere, and I emailed Wendy, the supervisor, directly -- I never received so much as a reply. During the sales process, it was all yes, yes, yes. Once something actually went wrong, there was silence. If you're considering this company, be aware that the follow-through doesn't match the sales pitch.

We started in Dublin made our way to Waterford, Cork, Limerick to Galway and back to Dublin. The Butler's bus was comfortable, spacious, and provided ample seating for everyone to spread out. Our drivers name was Peadar Homan, and he was an absolute delight. He was friendly and extremely knowledgeable on the history of Ireland, the people, the culture, and it's architecture. He was very professional, punctual, willing to work with our special requests, and provided recommendations for the group. Often times going out of his way to help make our trip seamless and enjoyable. Our family tour of Southern Ireland was amazing and memorable.The family is in agreement that Peadar definitely added to the overall experience. Would highly recommend using Butler's tours for your travel needs and if possible requesting Peadar Homan as your driver.

The company claims to be cruise friendly…read more I notified them a day in advance that our cruise was in a storm and we would not be arriving within a reasonable time of the tour. The company refused to cancel the tour, citing their cruise policy only applies if the cruise does not disembark at all. With their refusal to cancel and no reduced fee for the tour, despite the fact it was a 3 hour tour instead of the day trip planned, going to none of the stops that were on the itinerary, I can confidently state this is not a cruise friendly company, nor a customer oriented one. Although it isn't the guides fault (or ours), our guide took us to a little town where virtually everything is closed. A reputable tour company does not do this. Everyone knows that a good tour company is one that understands a win-win is possible in these circumstances (more than one win-win option available in these circumstances), but greed took over for Butlers. Highly avoid!

When I made it just in the nick of time from the airport, Mary greeted me with a hug because she was so excited I made it. I learned so much not only about the ancient sites, but also everything we passed along our bus route. And of course, visiting Newgrange (with guaranteed entrance thanks to Mary's tour) was one of the absolute highlights of the trip to Dublin. Don't think twice -- BOOK WITH MARY!!
