This place unexpectedly had one of the best vegan meals I've ever had . After a sort of disappointing visit to the Katoomba Blue Mountains which were shrouded in fog, we hiked the Leura Cascades. We dropped into Leura Gourmet, which had good seating and a soothing decor in the back though it had a busy entrance. I was expecting to make do with just a coffee and snacks but I looked at the menu, and asked our server if anything could be made vegan. She suggested the Oven Roasted Pumpkin as easily veganized and I ordered it. The pumpkin was roasted just right and the greens and coconut rice complemented it well. but the pièce de résistance was the accompanying beet relish. I'd never eaten beets done that way before. The coffee with oat milk I ordered next was a lovely finish to my meal, it was quite filling leaving no room for dessert . Sigh, I wish I could recreate that yummy meal here. It's a fond memory of our Australia trip.
Quaint village with good places to relax and have a good food. Leura Gourmet it's a combo of a shop with good quality products and a restaurant with tasty food. We experienced both and left very satisfied. Food and none alcoholic drinks selection is very good. You can find here many healthy choices. I opted for sesame crusted salmon and wasn't disappointed. The sesame crust gave salmon nice flavour and crunch. The fish was accompanied with mango salsa that was simply delicious. Steak Sandwich was equally good! Do make sure to try their coffees and deserts!
Every surrounding place closes early, so their closing time was a lifesaver. Pleasant service- nice staff-, easy grab-n-go food, and it was really good. Highly recommend the sausage roll. So good!
A nice place to grab your favourite breakfast, bacon and eggs. The staff are friendly and the view of Katoomba was a real delight. The menu had a decent selection to chose from. The cafe had table side service and the food came out hot and in decent time. For the amount of food we received it was well priced and kept us full until the late afternoon. The atmosphere was calm and laid back which is what you want when your still waking up. I decided to try the hot chocolate with chilli and cinnamon. Yes, it is spicy and it sure is a different way to experience a hot chocolate. Would I have it again... maybe not. The dining area is heated by a wood fire design gas heater, but just coming into Spring time it was just a little bit cooler than we like.

Straight up I'll confess this review is purely based on the deli side of this Leura local spot. We'd arrived late afternoon and were on a hunt through the Leura Mall playing tourist, seeking a late lunch and ingredients for dinner that night. Leura Gourmet Cafe & Deli gave us lunch in the form of their take-away quiches and the like, but other than cheese or pantry items such as herbs etc ingredients for dinner weren't as plentiful. The deli isn't as large as I'd imagined when I first walked in but it will offer you enough selection of cheeses, pantry items and even Serendipity ice-cream for dessert. It won't be your one-stop-shop but it'll do the trick.
So I was in the Blue Mountains for a weekend away, and I came to Leura personally looking for the cafe the Red Door. However, this cafe was closed. So we saw this Cafe across the road - and honestly no regrets. So this, as their name indicates, is a cafe and a deli in one. The food and coffee here is good, not great, but good. But honestly, the best part of this place is the deli. The chocolate and cookies is amazing, and don't get me started about the ice cream. If you are sitting in the cafe, order the hot chocolate with chilli and cinnamon - interesting in the good way!
Brunch in the Blue Mountains makes my mouth water. Especially when I don't have to do it on the weekend in the mad crush of tourists that make it difficult to get a table in a timely fashion. This week during my "stay-cation" the husband and I went to the Blue Mountains for a few days of rest and relaxation and as always Leura didn't disappoint. The hardest thing when faced with 3 mornings worth of brunch is which restaurants/cafes do I choose to indulge in? So the next few posts will show you exactly where I brunched - some are well known for the best brunch in Leura and others might have slid under your radar. First up in Leura - Brunch at the Leura Gourmet Cafe and Deli. Now the initial appeal of this place is deceptive, situated on the main street it's only once you are inside that you really appreciate the view - with glass windows from floor to ceiling you get to brunch in the sun AND if you really like some of the jams, chutneys and things that came with your brunch you can pick it up on the way out (Husband is more than a little obsessed with the onion jam). Now when looking at the menu there are many appealing things.. eggs of all varieties and even the lunch menu looks enticing. Being in a savoury mood (which to be honest doesn't strike any where near as often as the sweet mood does!) I couldn't go passed the corn fritters. These are always a hit or miss and trust me when I say I have had my fair share of misses.. but like a glutton for punishment I try them every-time! Relaxing in the sun with a banana smoothie waiting for my meal I was wondering if I made the right choice. AND this time boy did it pay off. The key to a great corn fritter in my opinion is to not mess with it by adding too much flour or filler.. keep the corn as the main event and that's exactly what Leura Gourmet Cafe and Deli did. Sweet Corn Fritters with avocado, roasted tomatos, a touch of balsamic and a dill yoghurt to finish it off was just divine. The husband selected from the lunch menu and in his traditional form went with the fancy steak sandwich and a mango smoothie. The biggest thing to watch out for no matter where you brunch in Leura is the prices.. nothing in this place is cheap as it's a tourist strip but I can definitely say that whilst the steak seemed overpriced the fritters were worth every kernel! Overall the servings were generous, the service was great, the view was spectacular the only 2 blemishes on the experience were the tacky laminated menus and the overwhelming amount of onion underneath my fritters... no one needs that much onion.. even the husband. http://brunched.com.au/brunch-in-the-sun-leura/
Love this place. You walk through the deli section at first, tempted by Persian fairy floss, hibiscus flowers to put in your champagne, wasabi mayonnaise and Serendipity ice-cream. There's a case of freshly made frittatas and other takeaway goodies too. If you manage to make it that far, you hit the cafe proper, a space painted a bright green which glows from the two fireplaces (yep, count 'em, two, it gets cold up here) when it's chilly. At the back are floor to celing windows looking out over the valley to Katoomba. Not the best view, being rather built up, but it makes the space light even on the most dismal day. The coffee's really good, the breakfasts and lunches huge, and the place is often packed. Worth milling around in the deli for a bit while you wait though, it's a more relaxed and comfy-casual place than many of the others in swanky Leura.
I was on a tour of the Blue Mountains and this was one of our stops. I was pleasantly surprised with the menu. I had been in Sydney for about a week and couldn't find any good salad options on most of the restaurants I went to. There were plenty of salad and gluten free options on this menu, I got the chicken salad - $24.90 iceberg lettuce, avocado, cucumber, pickled ginger. I'm Not sure if the salad was that great or if I was so excited to finally eat a salad. I don't remember the service being that great. I was in/out pretty quickly. The restaurant was cute but I don't remember seeing the views that some others mentioned. read more
Made a stop in Leura Village for lunch on the way to Blue Mountains. I found this little charming cafe with amazing views and welcoming atmosphere. I sat by the window and ordered as quickly as I could. Since I was with a tour group, I had limited time, so ended up having to take my food to go. I went with the Sesame Crusted Atlantic Salmon, served with pan fried potatoes and avocado salsa. The Salmon was lightly fried, delicately crispy, tender and well seasoned. That Sesame crust was also beautifully done, with black sesame and regular sesame. Potatoes were nice and crunchy, with great flavor, while the avocado salsa included red pepper and onion, which gave it a lovely acidity. This was fresh and colorful addition to the dish. For dessert, I had the Sticky Date Cake with butterscotch sauce. I've tried this in the States, and wasn't really a fan but having it in Australia was a much better experience. The cake was delightfully moist, with the wonderful taste of dates, was made even tastier with the rich, sweet sauce with notes of caramel and toffee. Service was pretty good. The waiter came right away, but the food just took a little longer than expected. read more

After a few days away my best friend and I always seek after a good place to breakfast before we take off home. We walked past Leura Gourmet several times on our trip and I noticed that the lunch menu was quite overpriced, however we settled there for our last meal in Leura and we're not disappointed! We both got the Full Breakfast which for $16.90 filled us up until dinner time. We couldn't finish the meal and we constantly commentating how delicious every bite into our food was. We sat there in the warmth watching the fog disappear and the view of Katoomba emerge. It was a very pleasant experience for two students who like value for our money. Thanks Leura Gourmet! read more

A must stop for a meal while in the Blue Mountains. I'll be honest and say that a big portion of this review is based on what the people at the table next to us ordered. My double smoked ham and artichoke heart baguette sandwich was good, and so was my wife's chicken, potato and leek pie, but what dropped my mouth was seeing the slow cooked lamb shank and French steak sandwich brought out to the table next to us. The lamb shank looked like half a thigh bone covered in tomato stew sticking triumphantly out of the plate and the French steak sandwich looked pretty "American" to me sliced a third of an inch thick and overhanging the open faced baguette supporting it underneath. I actually passed on it because the menu described it as "thinly" sliced which made me think deli sliced, but it really was as it was described in the menu and was a thinly sliced *steak*. Anyways, we finished off our meal with the incredible sticky date cake with butterscotch and cream topping and nearly called it a day not even caring whether we saw the Blue Mountains or not. read more
