The facility itself is clean and well-lit. There are private rooms that can be booked, and there is plenty of public space to work or read. There was a good amount of FREE parking, and they have someone keeping an eye on it, so that it's not misused by the crowds who are in the area for restaurants.

The VL offers programs for all ages on site and online. + Ambiance is small, clean and well stocked. This library has 2 floors. First floor serves mainly children up to 5th grade and a room that can be reserved for non-profit meetings by Cobb residents. The 2nd floor or the main entry from Paces Ferry is for everyone else. It's small, clean, and quiet with plenty of stools, chairs and couches with a friendly atmosphere. ++ VL has little bit of everything for Cobb residents. Children's' area had books, computers, audio books, DVDs and decorations geared towards them. VL has storytime for babies through young children and offer a program with 2 therapy dogs that the kids can read to on special Saturdays! I'm glad some of my tax $ goes to something good like this! Upstairs is for 6th graders and up and has a wall of subscribed magazines, carrousel of newspapers, books, audios, movies, computers, printers as well as free magazines to take (and for residents to donate). Cobb has electronic library system too so you can reserve books and also download e-Books. They also sell used books for about price a cup of coffee. Outside the lower floor near the entrance, there's a little free library too! + Service is friendly. You can get a library card free of charge if you are a Cobb County resident with a photo ID and a proof of Cobb County residence. + Price free and nominal charges for on demand prints (from their computers). + Parking is free. So it runs on it's own system but seemingly no different than any other library. There's a large parking lot so scrambling for a space to park isn't a battle you have to fight when visiting. When I drove up, I was blow away by. the beauty of the building exterior, such a pretty place! I visited with my son and was also so appreciative of the accessibility since we were navigating a stroller. It was so quiet and peaceful when we walked in. There were a few patrons downstairs but you never would have known it, you could hear a pin drop. I was greeted and helped by a young lady who gave me all the in's and out's. I live right on the edge of the perimeter so I just lucked out and snagged a library card. After getting our card, my son and I just strolled around the library checking out the offerings. The children's section is so cute and filled with books, colorful furniture and space to enjoy some reading and play time. There was even a clear distinction between the section for the little littles and kids, loved it. I was also so surprised to see items available for rent such as baking supplies - how cool. As a child of a teacher who has always prioritized education and reading, I'm so grateful for libraries. Get yourself a library card today!

Today was the third time I've been at this library utilizing one of the study rooms close to…read moreclosing time and was told that I had to exit even though there wasn't anyone waiting on it. Today, I arrived at 4:30pm and was asked to leave right after 7pm, and I'm literally looking at five other people all sitting at desks, and the second study room is vacant! It seems idiotic that if there isn't anyone vying for the study rooms LESS THAN AN HOUR until closing that someone should be asked to leave. So basically, what I just had to do is end my Zoom meeting, collect all of my belongings just to sit out next to the other patrons, all while staring at what are now TWO vacant study rooms! What harm am I doing to the day to day operations, especially when it took THIRTY MINUTES to do their rounds??? The last time I visited, I was told that my video could be heard on the first floor, which was impossible, because I have enough sense to monitor my volume, even with a closed door. At this point, I'm starting to think that it's personal since I come often if I'm in the area. So with that, I will resume my patronage at Switzer, where they understand this logic, and I won't be visiting ever again.

Over the past several visits, I have noticed that the multiple computers are either out of service or functioning intermittently, and the printers frequently experience errors or downtown, and the computer monitor, mouse and keyboards are covered with food, hair, dirt, crumbs, and other unclean things, which makes it difficult for patrons to complete essential tasks such as sanitation, printing important documents, conducting research or applying for jobs. Please keep the public library clean, and the maintained. This is very concerning.

We visited the Carter Center on Jan 6, 2026 as part of Road Scholar's "The Civil Rights Movement -…read moreAtlanta, Montgomery, Selma, Birmingham" program. It is the home of the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum. Access to the library is by appointment only. Tickets to the museum were covered by our program. Upon entering the Carter Center, the first thing we did was lunch at the Kitchen at Copenhill cafe. The cuisine was all-American, and decent enough. By the time I began exploring the museum proper, we had 100 minutes to spare. The way to the museum was into the gift shop, and then through either auditoriums A or B. The Carter Center is (so far) the only museum I've been to where the gift shop comes before the galleries. Given the limited time, I got to see three of the gallery sections. The first gallery section, aptly named "The Man From Plains", covers Carter's years before becoming POTUS. Exhibits cover his relationships with various people ("Black And White"), farming background ("Farm Family"), small-town education ("A Plains Education"), naval career ("A Career Officer?"), religious upbringing ("A Man Of Faith"), and courtship and marriage ("Jimmy And Rosalyn"). Easily my favorite section of the galleries, I got to appreciate (profoundly) Carter the person, human being and humanitarian. (Footages of this section are found on my YouTube channel in playlist "2026-1: The Civil Rights Movement - Atlanta, Montgomery, Selma, Birmingham", titled "Day 3: Jimmy Carter Museum, Part 1 - The Man From Plains".) The next gallery section is my least favorite, and not just because Carter wasn't all that great a POTUS. It covers the 1976 presidential election and his only term of office from 1977 to 1981. Exhibits include "The '76 Campaign", "The Walk Down Pennsylvania Avenue", "Inaugural Celebration" (including the Bible used in the swearing-in ceremony), the Oval Office (during the Carter administration), "Camp David Accords", and "Final Year - Two White Houses". No surprise that the focus is on the achievements than the failures. As photos the posted by others on Google show, there is apparently more that I didn't see because I wasn't aware of them. Wish I had a map of the museum. The final gallery section is my second favorite. It covers Carter's humanitarian work post-presidency, and is wonderfully illustrated by exhibits "Nineteen Eighties... Nineteen Nineties... Two Thousand and Beyond", "Building Hope", "Renewing Spirits", "Waging Peace" and "Recognition from Home and Abroad". The latter displays numerous accolades including a Grammy award, a Gates award, a Nobel Peace Prize, and (with Rosalynn) two Presidential Medals of Freedom. Situated near a window is the presidential lectern (supposedly) from the Carter administration where visitors can take photos of and with it. I took three of myself standing in front it. There is more that I didn't see because I wanted to go to the koi pond, but time had ran out. (Footages of the last two sections are found in "Day 3: Jimmy Carter Museum, Part 2 - Presidency & Post-Presidency". Same channel and playlist.) If I had more time, I would see the rest of the museum's content, the koi pond, the Japanese garden, and the Jimmy Carter bust near the museum entrance. What I did see impressed me so much that I'm adding presidential museums as places of interest for future travels. I recommend spending at least half a day to appreciate the museum and grounds of the Carter Center.

Located in a lovely neighborhood with not much traffic, there are many pretty houses to gaze at during the drive :) Although smaller compared to it's sister branches, the really helpful staff have done their best to keep it organized. Very clean, well-maintained and books always kept in order, this has become my go-to library for quick checkouts, although I live much closer to the Alpharetta location. (Alpharetta library can get understaffed that's why :) ) Parking lot is huge with plenty of benches and wheelchair accessible spots. You gotta take a picture with the horsey if you're visiting this library!

I normally place a hold on the books I want and go pick them up once they are available. This library has curbside pick up as well. They have a drop off option inside and outside the building which makes it more convenient. Parking lot is not huge but they do have additional parking options as well.
