With this company, be sure to ask a lot of questions.
I hired the packing service, and I was not happy with them. They crushed my clothes, which were in garment bags, into a box rather than using a wardrobe box, which seems weird, and they lost my stack of recipes.
The truck driver/movers were efficient and helpful and I have no complaints about them.
Unfortunately, my belongings were left in the truck overnight, and my large area rug picked up a bad stain somehow.
The trouble started when I claimed for the rug cleaning. Their rep (owner?), Denise Sweenie, was very nice about sending me the claim form, and since I had purchased insurance with my move, I was confident there would be no problem.
I chose several rug cleaners based on their reviews. In the end, I only found one in the area that could do the job, and the price was similar to what I have paid and been quoted in the past. The rug cleaner insisted I pay up front, which surprised me, but I paid when he picked up the rug, and then sent the receipt to Denise.
When she saw size of the rug cleaning invoice, she went ballistic -- really surprised me -- and then she called the rug guy and yelled at him, AND she gave his company a 1-star review, even though she hadn't used his service. (In fairness to her, I asked her to take down her bad review, and she says she did.)
She compensated me only about 64% of what I paid for the rug cleaning (to remove THEIR stain), and then when I asked about claiming against their insurance -- which I paid for -- she stopped answering emails. I waited nearly a week for an answer to the insurance question before posting this, but she has not replied.
This is where my advice about asking questions comes in: I think they call it "insurance" but there is no insurance company. They just pocket the "insurance fee" and then give some of it back if they have to pay out a claim.
I could be wrong about how this works, but Denise has declined to explain, even though I asked her twice. She has gone dark now, so I assume that's that. I recommend caution with this company.
I gave 3 stars because I DID get packed and moved, nothing was broken, and nothing major was lost. read more
