My son is 13 with Autism and Epilepsy it has helped with both he's learning to adjust to change and to push his self to try other things it has helped with his seizures being productive in the class with the mind and body has lowered his seizures tremendously! While I have experienced Brazilian jiu jitsu instruction at Rising Phoenix, it is obvious that he has a similar very scientific, enthusiastic, and patient approach with his other martial arts. Mr. Westfall is vastly knowledgeable and masterful across several martial art disciplines. He has experience training under/alongside some of the greatest and most influential martial artists in recent history. He provides concise instruction with a very respectful attitude that gives the gym a leg up on others in the region. I'd guess someone would have to travel hundreds of miles in any direction to get the same level of training. The facility is complete with grappling mats, bags, trapping dummy, boxing ring, and plenty of open space for kali or Jun Fan. It is always clean and well organized. The prices for classes are very reasonable as well. If you're looking for a martial arts gym for fitness, competition, or self defense, this is your place. If you are looking to get started or find a new place to train, this is it. The first class is free, so what do you have to lose? I love this studio so much that when I come into town to visit, I go to EPY before going home. My absolute favorite thing about EPY is that I can count on this studio for an enthusiastic welcome every time I walk in.
