I called to discuss a very simple topic. I wanted them to review something and before even talking to me, the admin assistant gets on the phone and says that will be $750 just to meet. The lawyer didn't even get on the phone. wow...so much for just checking if you even do this type of work. DO NOT USE THIS GUY!! This guy is really DUMB and horrible with numbers, accounting terminology, spreadsheets, investment banking structures, etc. Basically the things you would expect a Trust lawyer to understand. But he doesn't. And my husband and I PAID OUT THE NOSE for his incompetency and ignorance. Since he needed things repeated to him, over and over (on one call I had to explain the same thing 5 times over, he still didn't get it). If you hire this guy YOU WILL PAY 3x what one might pay another lawyer who actually knew what they were doing in this area. (oh and he also gets Perry Masoned pretty easily, that's how stupid he is) My husband and I hired him to do a complicated trust issue where my husband was the trustee. It was a last minute hire, with a court appearance shortly thereafter. John Lewman told my husband that he would have a chance to talk in court. But then John was "surprised" by something the other lawyer said, (that wasn't true, and my husband was waiting for his promised turn to explain to the judge) and he completely dropped the ball, and my husband didn't get to talk at all, and a temp judgement was made (NOT in our favor) because of false information and our stupid lawyer not allowing for the rebuttal as promised! It went down hill from there and we let him go shortly thereafter. From the get go this man treated my husband and I very badly. Initially, my husband and I (both heavily tattooed people) felt it from Mr Lewman and we couldn't put our fingers on. John Lewman is a former prosecutor. I am fairly certain he sized us up like we were guilty felons because of our tattoos and then acted accordingly with our case and the way he talked to us. I had a phone call with him with just myself, after he supposedly reviewed all our paperwork, and he wasn't able to explain back to me what he had spent all that time billing us for. The aggressive mansplaining was just over the top too. Especially from someone with such low critical thinking skills. I would say he also has an extreme listening problem. He is NOT an active listener and couldn't even repeat back to me something I explained to him 5 friggin times. I kid you not. We fired him right after that phone call when I became certain that he was an idiot and just KNEW he was going to charge us up that wazooo AND be too stupid to proceed with our case. He charged us over $5,000 for one court appearance in which he absolutely sucked, three phone calls with us (about 4 hours total time) and then all the time to "review" our case. I know lots of lawyers and I know how billable hours work. John Lewman made up billing hours IMHO We went with another firm. The new lawyer met with us one time for about 3 hours and took great notes and then was able to explain back to us, accurately and precisely in his own words what our case was about and what we wanted out of the case and why we needed a lawyer and then clearly state back to us what the next steps would be. If these are things you look for in a lawyer, then look elsewhere. read more

Hired John to assist w/ a case & lost based on his answer. I was referred from (EAP), which is a service my job offers! At times i felt he was too busy to deal w/ the case resulting in alot of confusion about what's going on. The other attorney informed me Mr Lewman wasn't making attempts to reach him either. I needed an Attorney that specializes in probate matters and my sister advised me to look for reputable lawyer through Better Business Bureau. Since the need was so urgent the first few law offices that I called cannot take me right away because of scheduling. The last law firm I called was the Office of Atty. Frederick Lewman. I spoke to her Legal Asst. Sue Randi who was kind enough squeeze in Atty. Lewman's hectic schedule and book me that same morning for consultation.
