I was referred to Tierney Law Group from an estate attorney I was working with on two family estates because I was having problems with a family member that was was threatening, harassing, and terrorizing myself and my family on personal and estate matters. Mr. Tierney jumped right in and helped me deal with the issue. I didn't take Mr. Tierney's advice at first which delayed the inevitable. I was trying to be patient and nice to a fault and didn't want to follow through on the legal options due to the potential outcome against this family member, but in the end, it cost me a great deal of stress and anxiety by delaying (should have listened to Mr. Tierney from the get go). Took me 5-6 months to finally do the legal stuff that needed to be done, and a total of one year from start to freedom for the legal items to come to a favorable resolutions. He helped me by filing a domestic violence restraining order against this family member and when that wasn't working, I ended up having Mr. Tierney file an unlawful detainer case against the family member, to have them removed from squatting in a house of mine. Mr. Tierney might have sensed that I waivered from time to time on my commitment to see things through because this was a big deal/big stressor for me, so he coached me through the tough spots, reassured me, addressed legal issues, came up with solutions, and addressed threats made by the family member which were nothing more than desperate bullying and posturing attempts, and Mr. Tierney even returned my communications at all hours of the day or night. I asked him once if he ever slept. He just said he was always concerned about helping his clients all the time, any time that he could. The family member dragged things on in court, getting several continuances on the DVRO, and the family member even managed to get a hearing on the unlawful detainer AFTER they were evicted - not sure how the court let them do that. I was upset, disappointed in how the courts were letting someone abuse the court system and process at my expense. Through it all, Mr. Tierney's experience was evident as he steered me through the process and obstacles. We tried to negotiate in good faith with the family member to avoid the judicial outcome, but the family member wasn't having any of that and felt to the end that they had complete control over the situation. Negotiations were long and drawn out by them, desperate, manipulative by invoking religion, military service, perceived disabilities, family, anything they could say, and the family member still believed that they held all the cards (thanks to Mr. Tierney's legal expertise, the family member didn't prevail in either case). In the end, the temporary DVRO was made permanent, the unlawful detainer and eviction was served, and I could finally start the breathe again. read more

I do Not recommend Mr. Tierney's services. My experience is limited to representation in a family law matter in 2023-24. That the result was not in my favor has nothing to do with this review. Having hired Mr. Tierney, virtually all drafting was done by an associate. That this would be the case was not disclosed. The drafts met mimum standards, however, contributing to the 'Three Stars' rating. Performance in court and in communications suggested that his interest at that time was elsewhere. He was an inadequate advocate in advancing motions before the court. Without warning in the final hearing he turned to me asking if I had anything to tell the judge. Not having been warned that would be coming was distressing. He did Not double his final month of billing as so many attorneys do. I am glad to read others had a more positive experience. I don't know if the other reviews are bought reviews, but I had a very bad experience. Hired him for eviction and had a very bad experience. He charges hourly and will keep your billing going without actually doing anything. He could put together a correct notice, but he could not file the case in court accurately, court rejected my case without a hearing due to inaccurate filing. During this moratorium time, when eviction laws are complex and hard to navigate, do not trust Tierney group for your eviction case. You will end up losing money and time. Update: This is not a fake review. I can post the invoices and the case number. The guy who charged me $400 hourly, is saying he has a flat fee. On top of that, he took my case in the moratorium and charged me for it. But could not get me the eviction. Forget the eviction, he could not file the correct paperwork in the court. read more

This is probably my fave Attorney house in Pleasanton [94588]...this office is no frills and go right to business...reception sharp and brilliant. Walked right over and greeted and inquired which Atty we were there for as I stated Atty Kent Tierney. She im'd attorney Kierney and let him know of my arrival while on another call. In minutes, I am lucky...as I have had to wait up to an hour at other SF Lawyer offices with big overhead fancy bookshelves and chandeliers and several legal reception. Not here...jst these two and yes...Attorney Mercado Si, hablo Espanol'. I was awarded a private consultation and less than 20 minutes I was out the door with our concerns covered and with mutual respect. This office did not belittle or look down on you or make you feel worthless except for funding the pay roll. NOT HERE...our Thanks goes out to Attorney's K.
