Plus, it is the priest's job to help people become great Christians, and we have that at Mary Queen. We are so blessed that they touch people's hearts during each mass. The week's highlight is disconnecting from the world and spending time in front of the Blessed Sacrament. That's right, leave everything at the door. Pope John Paul II once said, "Our communal worship at mass must go together with our personal worship of Jesus in Eucharistic adoration in order that our love may be complete." And he was so right.

I was seated alone, far more than six feet from anyone other than the people behind me. During the announcements, the priest promoted the parishes fall festival. He says that many people have joined the church because of the welcome reception they've received at the festival. It must be a lot more welcoming than that of Mass.

In fact, they are helping her get to the grade she is supposed to be in and works with her when she needs extra time on assignments or needs to complete missing assignments. They offer tutoring which is really nice as well. They offer lots of sports and clubs so children can get involved as much as possible. Great school.

The office staff is great, the principal is the best elementary principal I've ever seen. He knows every child. And is highly involved in all school functions. Doesn't pass it to an assistant. One of my children had been to several schools prior to stonewall during elementary years due to my husbands job. This was the only school he was ever happy at. Teachers are great and so much parent participation. Small town feel but at a bigger school with all the modern technology the kids need. You could not ask for a better school for your kids to start off at. You won't want them to leave!

Math teacher Mrs. Britney Richardson traumatized me so hard I remember her 5 years after, we got into a very serious verbal argument one morning where she yelled at me in front of all my peers, dismissing every explanation I had and putting me down at any chance. My breaking point (where I chose to sit in silence for the rest of the school year) was when she said with full confidence that I was "playing with needles, showing them off to other kids.", completely smearing and humiliating me. It was 7th grade, I had just been diagnosed a Type 1 diabetic and was showing a few of my closest friends how to properly use life saving emergency medication, as instructed by my doctor (glad I did because she clearly knew nothing of my diagnosis, if I passed out in her class I probably would've died there.). I was horrifically stunned and upset, and when she saw my gapping mouth she got a real cocky, mean smirk on her face, like she had outwitted a 13 year old. She should've been fired or reprimanded but no. It is still extremely upsetting, even as an adult with a diploma. Worst teacher I've ever had in 6 different schools. Wouldn't send my kid there if it was the last option.

Lexington Christian Academy drew me away from God. I came to the school in search for a Christian…read morecommunity that would help me grow in my faith, but in fact, it drew me far away from it. I was surrounded by people calling themselves Christians - while at the exact same time, I saw them tear down the very ones made in His image. An example of this being my entire class and upperclassmen (with the exception of few), making fun of one girl who struggled with a disability. They made an Instagram "fan page" of her - her profile picture being black snakes coming out of her eyes. I was once told by a staff member that, on another occasion, an entire grade dressed up as one student in order to make fun of her. But, because the staff "could not prove the bullying," they did nothing to stop it. However, I would be lying if I did not say there are some genuinely kind teachers at the school that truly love their students. But, that will most likely not be the takeaway in your child's experience at LCA. In the classroom, things from the Bible are skewed in their teaching. For example, it's taught that if you're anxious, you're not a true Christian. It's taught that if you pray for doctors and nurses, rather than solely God's miracles, you're not truly believing in the power of God. Teachings like these saturate the classroom. There is extremely little diversity, though their deceptive marketing will put a minority poster child on the front page of their website. What I experienced at LCA was truly traumatic to me. If you are considering sending your child there, and they are at all doubting their faith in whatever way, please prayerfully re-consider. I write this review out of deep disturbance and concern for your child's faith.

The schools in Lexington are not nearly as good as they are currently perceived. There is an…read moreenergetic, dynamic Superintendant who has done a masterful job with public relations and optics. As a result, the schools are not considered an issue right now (no mention that I heard in the mayoral race). But the schools are pretty mediocre (some schools are great, as good as any private school education while others are very troubled) and the "main office" is TERRIBLE. It's as bad as any bureaucracy I could name.

We have been so impressed with not only the warmth of the teachers and Director but also their expertise and depth of experience. The teachers have been part of the program for years; many are church members at St. Johns. Our family moved to Lexington from out of state in the middle of the school year. The teachers went above and beyond to make our children feel welcome (sending pics of classroom activities in advance, planning for us to come early on the first day) and the transition was incredibly smooth! The STEAM program is one of a kind and gives the kids great hands-on activities to practice and learn. My boys always had something exciting to tell me about!!
