Not only do you get to ride the Clydesdales, but you also get to spend some time with them before hand. You get a chance to get as up close as you want, feed them apples, and even hug them if that is your thing. Getting the chance to bond with the one I would be riding before hand was a special treat I did not expect. We then went on an hour long trail ride, and it was not your typical horse trail that is boring and straight. It was a REAL ride. We went up and down hills, through trees, and even across a small creek. And the best part all of is it's though the beauty only the Ozarks can bring.

However it is a great place for masochists who obtain pleasure from receiving punishment and being yelled at. I can only speak of the guide that we had, other guides may be fabulous, but the woman we had berated me and my friends for their lack of ability to control their horses. Apparently there is a magical 10 feet between horses that must be kept at all times - if not the world will surely come to an end. At least that is the impression we received. Little to no actual advice or training will be provided to new riders. The constant scolding of your fellow riders and you will be provided at no extra cost if you allow your animal to break this invisible barrier. My friends have enjoyed trail rides with Bear Creek and highly recommend them.

There are two stacked loops through rugged mixed timber and two one-way trails along Piney Creek. The trails are not well marked and there are a few "social" trails that can get you lost. A map and compass are a good idea if you plan on hiking from the north trail head to the south trail head or vice versa. This is a gorgeous and rugged area though, and easy to get to from Branson if you just want to get away for a few hours.
