I will have to disagree, in every aspect, with what the other reviews say about Liberty. I am a student that has attended Liberty for all four years of my high school career, and I can tell you that I would not rather have been anywhere else. While some students (probably the one talked about below) do not have the drive nor the intrinsic motivation to actually turn their assignments in on time, the staff over all are wonderful and aren't afraid to challenge their students. Yes there are a few teachers who are not the best, but they don't even come close to representing the entirety of the school's teachers. Also most of the rules that Liberty have in place are fair and are easy to follow; I'm a senior and I am not sure of any student who "controls the school", there are a few who try, but they don't end up very successful. The fact that some people believe there are "too many doors" is absurd. Students have the ability to access the school from all sides which is very convenient seeing as some classes are outside and we have a vast parking lot. The security team is wonderful and well trained. While they don't have people posted at every door, they have an extensive security system where they have cameras watching every part of the school and control on who they let into all the doors that are always locked (every door besides the main doors). Understaffed schools is also a nation wide problem, not just at liberty. Though D20 does have a lot of very nice schools and a lot of wonderful accommodations, they are not growing money on trees. I would like to point out that D49 has at least three different stadiums while the only stadium in D20 is the one at Liberty (hence the name "D20 stadium"). Also the fact that we must charge a very small fee to enter should not be a big deal since we still must find a way to pay for the stadium, athletic equipment, and athletic staff that make all of our sports event run. It is very dramatic that adults find five dollars "too expensive" to pay, and there are students who literally only have five dollars to their name, but they will still pay to see their friends play. There is a reason Liberty was named best school in Colorado Springs in 2016. Most everyone who works there is dedicated to improve the lives of their students and ensure they have a good education. The students care a lot, and it's not all about how much money their peers have (like other districts in this town); we all take care of each other. We are a family at this school, and please don't let these other reviews convince you otherwise. read more

We choiced our kids into Liberty 3 years ago. BEST decision ever! The band program is stellar and the academics exceptional. I regret not sending my two older kids there as well. My older two did not get the college prep and counseling that my son received while he was there. Mrs. Scott and Mrs. Nosker are first rate! I am very happy that my daughter will have 4 years at LHS when she graduates. In response to Glenn G. comment, that must be a D49 thing. We have been bleacher parents in multiple sports and activities in both D11 and D20 and we've always paid to enter the stadium. In fact, the stadium you are referring to is a D20 stadium which happens to be in the LHS parking lot. Please don't bash the school based on your mistake. My kids are worth $5 and I will happily pay that so they can see me in the stands cheering them on. They will remember that as they grow into adulthood. You might want to think hard about that. read more

This is the WORST school. The staff is rude and does not care about their students. They ignore issues till it erupts into something worse and always brush those issues underneath the carpet to keep the school's "great reputation". Racism, homophobia, etc is constantly overlooked. The current principal doesn't bother either so don't bother to complain to him--he won't fix anything and if he says he will, expect to get results several months later. The counselors don't care either! Everything is curt and unconnected between the adult/student relationship. All this school cares about is grades. Not education, not whether the student has learned, not whether the student feels safe/happy/comfortable. Pathetic. This school is nothing but overhyped. Now I understand why people visibly cringe when they hear a child say "I'm from liberty." read more

This is one of the worst schools I have ever attended. It is full of bigots and the principal chooses to keep teachers who have a past of sexual misconduct. The principal also asserts that this is a neutral school when it comes to political views but obviously he goes towards the more Republican, conservative side. There have been many victims that have experienced sexual harassment by teachers but the principal completely negates their experiences. The school favors competition over communication when it comes to education and doesn't focus on the learning aspect of school. This is why most students are not getting higher scores on their standardized tests. I hope that parents realize that bullying, racism, and sexism are issues at this school as well. We have had a great experience at this school. The principal and other administration have responded quickly and kindly to our needs. Good communication from the teachers and staff have made each year a success. Sure there are a few staff members who do not meet the mark, in my opinion, but truly is there a school who meets that qualification? Nope. It is what you make of it. I would recommend it. Worse high school ever!!! Due dates mean nothing. They can turn stuff in whenever with no repercussions. Kids control the school. Only juniors and seniors are allowed to leave for lunch but I have proof that all grades leave. They don't know who is going and coming. No security at all. Too many doors and understaffed. My other kids will not be going to this school. The principal is a joke. If you have rules for your kids, don't send them here. read more
