Breaks are taken from elementary school on to have students experience the world around them. Each year students take a different trip, starting in elementary school to places like MEsa Verde or Bent's Old Fort. In Middle School there are many programs to choose from that allow you to take a break from constant studying and explore topics that are interesting for you (I remember taking comic book art and acting). In High School the ECS program cannot be beat. A whole month off to study a topic in depth while traveling? I went to Italy and Bulgaria with these programs and felt that they enhanced my life and encouraged me to explore beyond what most students have when finishing high school. It also gives students the opportunity to play sports when they may not of had one in other schools. It may have changed since I was there, but anyone who wanted to play a sport could, and tryouts would only determine JV and Varsity levels. Small class sizes and dedicated and talented teachers make this school stand out. I owe a lot of my bright future to the great education I received at this school.

But as I watched him walk to the front doors, I knew my lifve would never be the same. This first day at school was horrible for my little tater tot. As soon as he entered the school, he was snatched from his friends by a women who goes by Amy Hamiltion. This women exerts her control over the 6th grade class with a iron fist, a iron fist that she then uses to smash down their indiviuality. When my beloved little boo tried to make a good impression on his first day by trying to be himself, a women by the name of Erika Patino said that no, he couldn't wear a speedo in the building. He also is not allowed to hug random people in the building. As has been mentioned in several other reviews, Mrs. Patino does happen to play a cowbell with such gusto that she nearly blew out my widdle boy's ear drums. It doesnt end there. As a single mom at the age of 25, I was judged by many teachers who thought I was his sister. They even tried to pretend I was a student to fuel their endless gaslighting agendas. Because I am unemployed, I couldn';t give my son a nice homeade lunch. At his first day of school, he bit into a breaded chicken sandwhich-better described at roadkill. He was diagnosed with food poisining, simply because it was raw. That day, I pulled hm from the public school system and now he is homeschooled by yours truly, when I have a break from pouring over the bills. As it turned out it was not! After I finally found a school that looked okay enough to enroll my honey bobo in, I was so relived. When my precious went to his first day there, I found out I should not be relived. The second he got in to the buliding Mrs. Erica Patina came in and started playing 5 cowbells right in front my little baby. The next second my baby was being yanked into a tiny room with 100 kids in it to learn about the rules and expectations. They also separated the kids into diffrent groups of color. I mean how could they, what do you been my baby wouldn't be able to see all of his sweet little friends in class. Finally after 3 hours my baby got to go to lunch at 12 o'clock! My baby used to eat at 10 AM before he went to this place. Anyways since I was busy that day I was not able to make him a sweet little heartfelt meal so he had to eat school lunch. I thought the school lunch would be like every other school he's went to. Well turns out it wasn't. He finally got to order his meal after a 10 minute wait. He decided that he was just going to get a chicken sandwich expecting it to be like a fast food sandwich turns out it was the opposite. It was just a patty of soggy raw chicken with a few bread crumbs on there to add some "fun" to it. There was no fun in my baby's food poisoned stomach that night. Anyways my baby endured 3 years of this place every year he begged me to leave. Also they have these letters at the front office that says that there is asbestos in the school. Cancer and therapy! I called and emailed the school last year and received no response. There is absolutely no need to heckle, jeer, or swear at the opposing team or their family and friends. The school might have Christian in its name, however it does not appear in the character or hearts of the student body in or around your stands currently. The school and its parents need to hold these kids to the highest standard as they profess to represent our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

They are running this school into the ground at an alarming pace. Families are fleeing under the current administration. Our son was being sexually harassed constantly by some kids in his class and we were laughed at by Mrs. Blair and Mr. Randall when we brought it up (We have them on a voice recording doing this and the school still did nothing). They refused to take this seriously and our sons mental health suffered because of this. We were told by the administration that Vanguard was a choice school and we could go elsewhere if we didn't like it. The school refused to do anything until we threatened to go to the media and started a Title 9 Investigation. That investigation found repeated evidence that these kids were sexually harassing students in the classroom so they quietly moved them to another classroom and did nothing else to apologize. Administrators play favorites and will disrespect and treat children they do not like poorly. They favor the staff children for activities, sports, and all other extracurricular activities. They refuse to hire any additional guidance counselors and rely on one for the entire school. They do not take the kids mental health seriously and have nothing in place to help kids suffering with depression and bullying. If there is an instance of bullying they will move that child to another class where they can find more students to pick on and have no repercussions. Like many of the other families that are leaving this school we have removed our children from this toxic environment and are going to a different school district. It also looks as if google is removing/not posting negative reviews about this school.

My son is now K-3 and has consistently seen the same group of students transition through to the next grade. I ask him consistently if he's bullied or anyone of his classmates exhibit extreme or violent behaviors and the answer is consistent there's always one or two kids that are always in trouble. For the most part the curriculum is consistent with grade school expectations and he is an avid reader. I can say that the teachers and administration are excellent and I don't have any complaints. For parents who are new moving to the area there are several options for elementary choices but bare in mind Harrison school districts limits your choices to charter vs. public in other words I can't send my child to a different public school simply because I want too. The rules very well could have changed however that was my experience. Also they did close out access to the school grass field, basketball court and play area. I completely agree with maintaining the integrity and value of the property as people were constantly destroying the grass with unregulated soccer.
