I had an infusion for osteoporosis. Staff was nice, efficient, explained everything. Calcium bloodwork was fast and the infusion only took a few minutes. I also had a nerve test done on my hand earlier this year (2026). Again, everyone was very professional, explained the procedure and carried it out immediately. Liberty Hosp is not really conveniently located directly off the highway. You have to take a windy-access road from the highway. It's easy to ascertain the main entrance and there's automatic revolving door. Parking is available in front with plenty of handicap spots. The front desk is right inside the revolving door, where receptionists are present to help guide you and look up and patient information you need. The signage to hospital rooms are not very clear so we doubled back to get direction even though we had the room number. The floor we went to had clean floors and helpful staff. They didn't apply the discount until after sending me to a debt collector and now after a year of dealing with this, it is still ongoing. I visited the emergency room on March 10th and will never step foot in that place again. I was there for 4 hours and all I got done was some blood work, and IV that I did not need and a CAT scan that I also did not need. I needed an eye doctor but they didn't tell me there wasn't one available. The attending physician had no idea what the hell she was doing, all she did was shine a light in my eye and make my eye follow the light as if I were being given a sobriety test. And the nurse was rude as hell. All they had to do was tell me that they did not have an eye doctor available and I could have gone somewhere else... I'm here waiting. I've been here 2 hours. Had an EKG... waiting to do blood work. I'm here for chest pains (maybe heart attack) was told to go to emergency as soon as the chest pain happens. Went to urgent care and they said they don't test for that I'd have to go to emergency... here I am. Apparently you are supposed to get blood work done within 2 hours of incident I'm screwed then cuz I've just been waiting... over 2 hours now. Front desk girl was horribly rude also. Brought my husband to ED after he fell face down and hit his head, face and chest on a cement sidewalk. He tripped on an uneven sidewalk and hit hard. Cut his face and nose ( which had several fractures). His neck was fused and I was worried about that as well as a concussion, cerebral bleed, nasal fracture and blunt trauma to his chest. They put us in an urgent care room not the normal ED bed for trauma patients. Except for someone getting our payment info we did not see anyone for 75 min when I went out to ask and the triage nurse told me once a patient is put in a room she was done. It took almost 4 hrs before the wounds were sutured and they finally checked his pupils. No vital signs were done, no check of his chest ( turns out he had bruised ribs.The negligence started with the triage process and I would never take a family member here again read more

I had a wonderful experience at this hospital ER! I had been rear ended and was having some severe head pain. I basically got right in, no waiting. From the front desk clerk, intake nurse and all the other folks. They were so professional and knowledgeable. Brittany was very sweet and kind, Tasha the PA was very informative, the cat scan folks were amazing and Tom the send-off RN was great. Super personable and down to earth. From March until June 2023 my mother was in an out of liberty Hospital. She spent time on the third floor, both south and east, the fourth floor, the seventh floor, and the emergency room. Our staff there has always been fantastic the nursing staff, CNA's food, service personnel, and housekeeping, all work very hard and are dedicated to the patients who are staying there. I would recommend an Liberty Hospital to anyone for their health care needs. read more

Liberty hospital used to be top notch. .I noticed that over the last couple of visits I had the care and quality has diminished. I actually considered going to another hospital today however I live in liberty and have been a long time resident. This was a mistake on my part that I will not make again if given a choice. I felt no concern, empathy, compassion or even a sense of urgency or understanding. I have a full time job, I need to work. I went in Because I have an injury to my knee from a Sporting event. It took x rays said that something was "probably" Torn and I had effusion on my knee. They acted like it was nothing to say. It should go away in 10 days And if not to contact my doctor and orthopedics. I asked about an MRI, nope "at least" 6 weeks out. Insurance. I have Tricare for life and yet I can't get any better answers than this about my care. They acted like they were doing me a favor which in fact all they did was waste my time. As I said, never again. Will I choose liberty hospital emergency room or liberty hospital in general if I have a choice. No thank you. I realize I have torn something in my knee. But I don't need your tylenol and ace bandage, which is all I was offered. read more

I keep making the mistake of coming here when my chronic pancreatitis flares up. The hospitalist are not very caring, haven't been here24 hours, I asked to be released. The doctor don't get that this is painful, he decided to give me Tylenol instead of a pain killer that would work. I wish these doctors would get pancreatitis or kidney stones, and then let them suffer. Wish family doctors could see you in the hospital. New in town, this won't be our go to for emergencies. Every person that we encountered here was lovely, however, we got there just before 12am and waited four hours to be seen. We're told twice that a room was being cleaned for us and we were literally the only people left in the waiting area. I understand triage however a few people were taken ahead of us that came in after we did and didn't look like they were at serious risk. When they took us back there were empty beds everywhere. Finally discharged at 5am. Three stars for the staff, but they need to do better. read more

Pain Management Center is top notch. The staff has won multiple awards for its outstanding patient customer service. It is well deserved! Whenever I need something in their wheelhouse, I always have my general practitioner send their referral to this place. This center is the best in the Kansas City area for pain management. Even if you are positive there is nothing anyone could do to help your pain? Still give this center a chance to try to help you. Wife was in the Liberty Hospital and was told she needed to have a pain shot. However, she had a UTI which had to be cleared up first. Was released on Monday. UTI was cleared up on Tuesday. Called to get the appointment at the Pain Management Center and was told they had no order for the shot, they would have to check with the doctor who was in clinicals(or something). Never heard anything more Tuesday. Called Wednesday and was told the order had been cancelled. How could an order that they didn't have be cancelled?? Now told it may be a couple of weeks before she can get a shot. Note: only gave 1 Star because it wouldn't allow zero. read more

I have had prior authorization issue with my primary care doctor's office for weeks. They got the authorization for Liberty to do an mri, although I had explained to the use practitioner that I'm severely claustrophobic and needed an open mri. After several phone calls and calls from my insurance company I got no help. Thank God I called Sheena at Liberty's mri scheduling today. She was so kind and professional. PLEASE DON'T GO HERE....Take the time to read this review to see why. My father passed away at Liberty Hospital 11/20/23, I wouldn't send my worst enemy here, as a nurse of over 21 years. I'm about to detail the final days of his life so you don't experience the same. (Note: I don't believe the outcome of my dad would have been different, but I did NOT want to see him suffer in his final days, which he did at Liberty). I had reached out to the patient advocate, but still to this day have heard NOTHING from them. USELESS. My dad was admitted 11/11 and the week prior was playing 18 holes of golf, and the ER care was fine. He was admitted upstairs, where the nightmare started. No answer to call lights for several minutes (most often more than 10 min and one time was so long we forgot what we were even calling for). My dad suffered from CHF, and it took at least 4 days to get him on the diuretic he needed after I advocated several times to Cardiology. I logged in to his portal daily, and found it odd that the dr documented that my dad had a "regular rate, regular rhythm, S1 S2 noted" when my dad was in A-Fib the entire time, and I was present for that whole visit where the dr never so much as touched my dad, let alone lay a stethoscope on his chest. That's falsifying documentation for non-medical folks. My dad ended up on Bipap respiratory support due to his increasing CO2 levels. He became confused. They put a chair alarm on him. Which wasn't heard due to the tech at the desk having an earbud in his right ear and being on his cell phone. My dad was 2 doors down, I could hear the alarm from where I was. Thankfully my husband who is a nurse also was in the room to help him. No one changed his bed linens for several days because he didn't use the bed that often. They instead flipped over the pillow to hide the stains. POOR CARE. The pulmonologist wanted to send my dad home on his home CPAP despite him failing it multiple times. He knew he would be sending my dad home to an UNSAFE discharge, but didn't care. My dad's O2 sats would drop to the 70's as soon as he put it on. But that's how he wanted to send him home. It wasn't until I met the wonderful RT, Tammy, who told me they specifically have a person that qualifies people for home Bipap based on their hospitalization and me begging, that we got Pulm to give the blessing to try to get dad a Bipap for home. When I called his regular pulmonologist at St. Lukes, she was mortified! Would you want to suffocate???? I type this to warn others.......we had a non-medical friend stay with dad one night. He ripped off his Bipap to head to the bathroom (without O2 due to confusion) and NO ONE responded to the Bipap or chair alarm, and our fried had to run to the desk to beg for help for my dad. He was already hypoxic at that time. PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE. Even with me calling the advocate, I've NEVER gotten a call back, no letter, no nothing. Just an ass of a unit manager who showed up and did nothing nor apologize. The only saving grace was Kim, the palliative care person who was wonderful. SHE deserves ALL the credit for getting my dad's final 8 hours to be peaceful, because prior to that it was a living hell. read more

I had two bladder surgeries at Liberty Hospital done by Dr Magera on 6/28 and 7/31. I have no complaints regarding the doctor, PREOP, or PostOP for my June surgery. The ratting of this review is based solely on my PreOp and PostOP experience. During the preOP a young person drew blood, left, and never took off the tight rubber that she put on my upper arm. No one noticed until my wife asked the nurse if it should be still on me. After surgery my care nurse seemed to have questions of needed advice on what to do for my Chemo flush. The male nurse who cared for me so well in my June PostOP seem to be supervising on what was being done. He even stepped in to tell the nurse her next duties and lunch break. Unlike the first PostOP, I was discharged without any prescriptions for pain, constipation, and cramping. I had pain and cramping all afternoon and throughout the entire night. My guess it was a significant oversight by the care nurse that I was sent home without prescriptions. read more

Awful. Was admitted to the ER last week after fainting from stomach pain at a nearby restaurant. The ER was ok, they got blood work, CAT scan and then admitted me to the upstairs third floor. My first night, I didn't sleep a wink. Too much pain. The night nurse was an angel. I believe her name was Chris. Not one time did they ask if I needed anything, the day nurses only check on you if you press your call button and even then they sound annoyed that they need to assist you. My alarm from my IV kept going off constantly because I bent my arm. No one would come turn it off unless I called them to come do it. It was very loud and annoying. They sent me for a HIDA scan to check functionality of my gallbladder. The surgeon came to take to me after that, Dr Beggs. He informed me that my gallbladder was functioning at 22% and anything lower than 35% is bad. Phew! I felt so relieved that after a long 3 years of pain I finally might have an answer. But, he wanted to do an endoscopy and colonoscopy first to make sure nothing else will be found before we do surgery to remove my gallbladder. That evening I had to prep for my colonoscopy, which means drinking a whole thing of miralax and a bunch of Gatorade. Once again, my night nurse, Chris, was an angel. She kept on top of my pain and gave me meds every 2 hours which really helped. The following day, I still had not had a bowel movement. The nurses were shocked and ended up having to give me an enema. After my procedure, the GI specialist said he doesn't agree with gallbladder removal and thinks I have IBS. HUH?! I didn't come into the hospital with diarrhea. I had pain in my upper right stomach. I have had diarrhea in the past and apparently he believed that I should be treated for IBS first...even thought my gallbladder is painful and only functioning at 22%. My surgeon Dr. Beggs came in after my colonoscopy and endoscopy and informed me that he canceled my gallbladder surgery. I immediately started crying out of frustration. He said he wanted me to take fiber pills and antacids for a week and if I'm still in pain we can do the surgery. I questioned him and was clearly very upset and still in pain. He got defensive and very condescending with me at this point and treated me horribly. I talked with another doctor in the hospital and he seemed to side with me and said "i can go ahead and put you back on the schedule for surgery, it is totally up to you". I agreed. Dr. Beggs came back into my room following that conversation and was extremely rude and argumentative. I ended up having a panic attack right in front of him, hyperventilating and everything. He just stood there and did nothing to help me. He continued to say, "well I've put you back on the schedule for surgery but I'm not going to promise that it's going to help you" very rudely. At that point, I was exhausted and no longer trusted him to do my surgery. I ended up discharging myself AMA and followed up with my general practitioner the following day. She was shocked that they didn't do the surgery and she has now set me up with another surgeon at north Kansas City hospital. I'm looking forward to getting better care. Liberty hospital was a nightmare. No compassion. read more

Due to the doctor I was required to see, I had to visit Liberty Hospital for a procedure. I showed up and checked in. I waited in the pre-surgery waiting room for about 15 minutes before a nurse came up to me and said that I would have to reschedule because the doctor had the flu and was being hooked up to fluids. Never heard that one before! So I got a reschedule, with a different doctor, the next day. Hard to wait an additional day with a kidney stone issue, but I didn't have much of a choice. Didn't wait very long the next day to check-in or sit in the pre-op waiting room. The pre-op nurse was really nice. However, when she initially tried to put in the IV in my wrist, she blew the vein. I was left with a huge bruise for 2 weeks afterward. Otherwise, she was wonderful and a highlight of my time at Liberty. Eventually, I went in for my procedure and woke up in the post-op recovery room. I immediately started coughing and struggling to breathe. They must have done something when inserting or removing the breathing tube that caused some irritation and coughing. Eventually, this went away, but not for a few days. I was still groggy from the anesthesia when I was asked to put my clothes on and hop in a wheelchair. I really don't think I got a fair time to recover in post-op because it felt to me that I wasn't awake very long before they were discharging me. So, blew a vein on an IV attempt, problems with the breathing tube in my throat causing a cough, and feeling like I was shoved out the door as soon as I woke up hurt my rating of this hospital. The pre-op nurse was a joy, and the procedure was successful, so I can't complain too much. read more

I gave birth here a little over a month ago and had the most amazing experience with the entire staff. Every nurse seemed to truly love their job and really cared about both my son and me. Nicole was the best nurse, always coming to check on us and whenever we called would come very quickly. We also lost one of my son's hospital bands while we were there and she went over and above to send them to us so we'd have them for his baby book. I would give this place no stars if I could. Forget about going here for an emergency service. They are so understaffed the wait times are 3 plus hours. I was told by the triage nurse that it was due to not having enough beds, but if there was more doctors and nurses to tend to the patients in those beds, they would be turning them over much faster. My dad has been screaming in pain in the waiting room for over 3 hours and people that came in after us were called back first. I will never walk back into this shit shack ever again. My mother fell a few weeks ago and broke her wrist. The ER doctor told her it wasn't broken and sent her home telling her to take Ibuprofen. Her own doctor used the ER exray and it was very clearly broken! I think they are lazy and don't care and didn't want to be bothered. To the doctor that treated her... I was seeking medical attention because I collapsed my veins in one arm from drug use (not smart) and I was worried that I was internally bleeding. I arrived and got checked in. I overheard a tech asked my nurse what I was in for and she said "It's just a junkie who thinks he collapsed his veins because he stuck a needle too many times in his arm.. So after the nurse brought out a machine that scanned my veins and arteries in my arm and she was not caring and was forcefully pushing and moving my arm with both her hands to put it in a different position, I said to her "you can tell me if I need to move my arm, you don't need to push it so forcefully." And she just looked at me and didn't say a word, Completely unprofessional. It shouldn't matter if you've ever used drugs or not you should be treated in the same caring manner as any other patient and not treated unfairly or wrong because you have made mistakes. I wouldn't recommend this hospital to anyone who has ever or is experiencing a drug problem, if you need or believe you need medical attention seek elsewhere. read more

Had a Dr appt last Fri at 8:30.By 9:30 I was admitted to the hospital.I could not have asked for better care.The nurses(Linda,Debbie and Sam) were wonderful.The aides were great and very helpful.Thank you Kristen,Kylea,Becca and the others I cant remember.Even the cleaning staff and dietary was friendly and helpful.I think most of the negative reviews may come from people who are asking for things and help that they feel is owed to them.Much easier and you get more help if you just let them know your problems and let them do their jobs.I know they work very hard and have so many different patients that they cant give all of the attention to one or two people.And if you hate the place so much then go somewhere else.Only problem I had was I was VERY cold...Could not get warm.But they kept bringing me warm blankets and checking on me.Couldnt have asked for better care. read more

Over the course of a week I had to visit the er twice. The 2nd time I visited the er I was admitted for 3 days. I was misdiagnosed in the initial er visit. The pain I was having got worse by the time I returned. Because my tests were showing nothing the Dr's were reluctant to do anything to find the cause of my pain. I ended up having one procedure and because that test showed nothing I was cut loose so they released me without listening to any further concerns from me. Out of the handful of Dr's I seen only one that actually listened to me which was the highlight of my stay. read more
