Larry Luttrell and Liberty Ranch saved our sons life. I just cant believe that some people are posting negatively about this place if they saved your family members life too. Mary you clearly didn't get the message they were trying to send you and your family at Liberty Ranch. When our son first got to Liberty we were terrified. We did not know what to do or how to save him so we had to get out of the way. The owner Larry was very direct with us. When we were doing something that was going to ultimately cause harm to our son in the long run or distributing any kind of sick behavior it was pointed out to us. While I will admit it was painful to see how I was continuing to harm my son while he was sober, I would have helped him right back into using had the ranch not corrected my behaviors. The entire family had to be willing to change and we were not aware of that. So we had to learn and for me I learned the hard way, by making mistakes and getting those things addressed in the Saturday groups. My son DID need protected from me at that time! I was still treating him like he was a child and enabling his bad behaviors. Being placed on no communication and taking the time out for myself to get my own life and behaviors in check is the best thing that could have happened! At the beginning I felt like they were taking him away from me and "That's my baby they cant do that" but by the end I got my son back. A responsible, sober, caring man! He was no longer mommas little boy. Us as family members make very terrible decisions when our loved one is using. (and sober) I dont believe any family member is an exception to this including you Mary. It sounds like you got addressed just like we did and were not willing to see your behavior for what it really was. Injurious to your granddaughter. And your post on here is a direct reflection of that behavior continuing to happen even after your granddaughter left. What liberty is doing directly with our children is not always our business. If we want them to grow up we have to let them make the decisions not us. I know multiple family members who came up to me after getting addressed in group and thanked me for allowing them to talk about our family problems openly! It helped them with their problems in their own family as well. Larry Luttrell has the biggest heart. That man deals with the addicts problems, the family members problems and even stays involved with them after they have graduated the program. I have read a previous review from Mary S and I felt the need to comment because it seems that family members, just like myself, find it hard to take responsibility for our part in our loved ones disease. We live in denial and the staff at the liberty ranch and the liberty ranch for women open our eyes to it, what they call pulling covers. I have been in a lot of family groups(including one with Mary and her granddaughter) and I have been called up to the front of the room and had a lot of my own behavior as a parent pointed out, while it is not fun or sunshine's and rainbows it is what we need as family members. Many family members including myself do not take responsibility of it well but we need to in order to get better for ourselves and our loved ones. There is support on the liberty ranch family page that seems like Mary did not take advantage of. But the people that lead that group have years of al anon experience and have had their loved one go through this program. I have learned a lot from Saturday group and the Liberty Ranch Facebook about my loved one but most importantly about myself. It's only when family members don't want to change or take any responsibility for their own actions that we force the ranch to take action to protect our loved ones sobriety. And if i remember Mary had to admitted to getting her granddaughter drugs before, which is the ultimate form of enabling. Which is a huge concern and the Liberty Ranch and Ray put some space between you two and was probably for the best but your sickness will not let you see that. Because at the end of the day we took our loved ones there for the help we could not give them. Even the post that Mary posted is the behavior that makes it impossible for us to get better as a family member of an alcoholic. This place is an absolute joke. It is nothing but a cult designed to belittle, demoralize, and ultimately break a person's spirit. They foster an atmosphere of distrust and actively snitching on others is encouraged for things as trivial as who left a ballpoint pen on a table. Only one meal per day is served and it is usually a pot of beans or oatmeal or any other cheap fare. The staff is constantly being disciplined and fired for unprofessional behavior (mainly the counselors) and the owner Ray is the most disrespectful unprofessional business owner I have ever seen in my life. None of the activities or amenities listed on their website are available except for forced labor. It is nothing but a money scheme designed to siphon as much money from your family as possible. If you are fortunate enough to get a job while staying there they will continue to charge your family the agreed upon rate of $2000 per month while ALSO taking half your paycheck for "room and board". This exists only as a source of free labor for the owner to e xploit in order to support his other businesses and maintain his various properties. Dakota the house manager is a good guy who seems like his heart is in the right place but everyone else is so corrupt that he is in way over his head and had to tow the company line. If you care about your loved ones there are much better options out there. Beware. read more

My daughter was in the liberty ranch for 12 months, I took her there because I tried and tried to get her sober but nothing worked. She was destroying her life and I was helping her do that, I was her biggest enabler. If it was not for the ranch I would still be enabling. I went to family group twice a month for 12 months and have been called up to the front many times just like Mary S. from below mentioned. The owner and his staff have confronted me on why and how I enabled my daughter. I also did not want to take a look at my own behavior but once it was broken down to me it was a huge eye opener. With what Mary S. from below is saying, she did not want to own anything that she had done to hurt her granddaughter. She gave her granddaughter drugs before coming into the ranch and could not see that was a problem and when she got confronted about it she got up out of group and walked out instead of taking responsibility for her actions on enabling and getting the help that the liberty ranch was trying to offer her. I remember her coming to another family group and Mary S. had failed a drug test and it was suggested to her to try to attend some Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. In my opinion their method of sobriety is not in accordance with AA, so if that's what you're looking for, LR isn't the recovery house for you or your loved one. Love and tolerance of others doesn't seem to be a part of the big book they've read or follow. AA is a suggested program and it's more like their way is right and everyone else's is wrong. They don't seem to allow or encourage error and mistakes rather they judge and condemn. The people in charge don't have kids of their own so it ends up feeling like a non cigarette smoker counseling cigarette smokers on how to quit smoking. The people in charge use interrogation tactics, for hours, trying to get members to admit to lies or unacceptable behavior which they end up just agreeing to to shut them up. It's pretty clear the people running the program haven't seen the inside of an AA meeting or big book in years, which is pretty sad, but not surprising in the world of recovery. Listen to the message not the messenger would be a good suggestion for this place. This is a great short term program but it really runs it course quick. Keep in mind this is my opinion and my experience and I'm able to express it because of my first amendment right. read more

My husband and I couldn't be happier with our experience with The Liberty Ranch and their owner Ray. Our daughter always struggled to get and stay sober and today has over 2 years sober thanks to the ranch and their program! Our whole entire family got better due to the issues addressed in weekly family groups. We had to keep an open mind and be willing to listen to what was being said to us. It wasn't always easy to hear the part we played but left to our own devices we would have loved our daughter to death. When we started to do the things that were being pointed out to us things continued to get better for all of us! Ray is willing to address the difficult subjects and offer life changing solution. Him and his staff are truly the experts in recovery! I have been in family groups where people have become defensive, walked out, and ultimately sabotaged their loved ones recovery. Liberty House and now Liberty Ranch saved our son's life. He has been sober for 12 years and has become the young man of integrity, service to others and very successful in his career. This is what liberty house taught him when he was deep in his addiction despite that he had been raised in a loving and stable home. Addiction does NOT discriminate. At the time we were either going to have to visit him in prison or a grave site at only 19 years old!! Two and a half years ago, I came crawling back to my parents after living in active addition in my car for two months. I was homeless, jobless and broken. All i knew how to do was lie, cheat and steal to get loaded. By the grace of God they took me back on the one condition that I would go to a rehab facility. And again by the grace of God the interventionist from a year back suggested The Liberty Ranch. It was here that I learned of the bondage of self and the principles of AA that have helped countless alcoholics and junkies. It was here that the staff wouldn't let up on me or the guys I called friends, staying until the early hours of the morning to get to the bottom line of behavior. The Liberty Ranch is by far the best facility I have ever been too. The staff there never gives up on the residents. When I got to the ranch my life was a disaster I had legal trouble,financial trouble, and I was lost and broken. I probably would not have made it much longer, I had no idea how to live.They taught me how to be honest, hard working, accountable, hold myself to a higher standard, they introduced me to the AA program and the structure of the facility follows the principles of the AA program. So I learned to work and live the program on a daily basis. They showed me that you will get out what you put in, so I put my all in and it worked for me. I am so grateful that my family found this place for me and that I stayed, because the ranch has shown me a new way of living and I am proud to be part of this program. May 1, 2018 my daughter walked through the doors of The Liberty Ranch.....a day I will forever be grateful for....the day that honestly saved my daughter's life!!!! I urge any addict or any family member of an addict to seek help from this wonderful facility. The staff is amazing and their number one priority is for the addict to learn to live a fulfilling, sober free life. They work the 12 steps....REALLY work the 12 steps and hold the addict accountable for their actions. Their method is strict, which is what the addict needs, but done in a loving way. This place saved my sisters life! After drinking and using for 35 years, in and out of jails and treatment facilities, my family sent her to Liberty Ranch on our last hope to keep her alive. At 57 years old she is finally enjoying living a happy productive life. She stayed for 9 months and we attended many family groups and I also began working a program of my own through Al-Anon. With help from the staff we were able to put our family together in a healthy productive way. The ranch taught me everything I know about recovery and life in general. It flipped my life completely upside down and is a place I still find myself calling "home". By far the best rehabilitation facility. My son has been in and out of many rehabilitation centers for the past 11 years and relapsed after every one. I was desperate for help. I wanted a long term, affordable center that had produced good results. A pipe dream right? The Liberty Ranch was recommended to me. I researched it and it sounded exactly what I was looking for. With much trepidation I took my son there September 1, 2019 and he is still there today. Looking better and feeling better than he has his whole adult life. It is a miracle. My son and many family members have entered their doors and are living sober and productive lives. I highly recommend The Liberty Ranch. Peaceful surroundings, they work with the addicts day and night. Your loved ones go in, usually have hit rock bottom. They get their life back, through hard work and counseling. I remember looking at my son and thinking he would be lucky to see another month. I was scared of my son dying and I had to realize that I couldn't help him. Luckily for us we had heard of the Liberty Ranch from a family friend and we had tried everything except for treatment. We were out of options so we put him on a plane and turned it over to the liberty ranch and its staff. I've been to the Liberty Ranch. The techniques involved are critical to change. Mindfulness is key and these folks are experts at it. I could not change, and neither could my family until we knew what to look at. The staff and the clinicians know exactly whats in the way of progress and you learn about it while there. You also learn what to do about it. I had an immediate support group around me and so did my family. This was key, and something other facilities do not provide. Its an abstinent based facility and the focus is on the 12-steps and relapse prevention. Those people who do not make it here are those who do not want to change or follow direction. Liberty Ranch is like no other drug and alcohol rehabilitation center. It truly addresses the character defects that so many addicts have used to further their illness. My son went there over 8 years ago and with the Ranch's help changed the lying, addictive and deadly behavior. It was not easy, nor was it quick. Liberty Ranch has been a Godsend for my nephew who has been a resident for over 8 month's. They have taught him skills to live a sober life. The staff are great, they care about each and every resident. He has met some wonderful people who no doubt will become life-long friends. They hold each other accountable and are there to support one another. I have also learned my own short coming and how to change them. I attend Al Anon meetings which has helped me tremendously.
