His office went silent for months. I had to nag to get my taxes finished and had to continually reach out to find out when they were done. We finally received our completed taxes just ahead of the extended deadline in 2020. We filled out all the paperwork as we were instructed and mailed it and checks to the IRS. A few months ago (Oct 2021), we started getting letters from the IRS informing us that we owe them MORE money for the same years in question for 5329 (IRA) issues. I contacted Chris's office immediately. His assistant requested some IRS paperwork from me which I provided that very day. Chris himself called me back about a week later. I explained the situation, and he said he was willing to look into it to see if he'd made a mistake. He then said that he needed to send me some paperwork so he could call the IRS on my behalf. It's been 2 months since those emails and phone calls, and I've heard nothing from either of them. I paid a non-trivial sum of money to have my taxes done by Chris. If a mistake was made, I expect it to be taken seriously - especially given the quantities of money involved here! I'll not be using this CPA again.

We have used H & R block for years when we lived in NJ but NEVER will again. We did our taxes in…read moreJuly 2024 on a legal extension. First mistake was their tax "professional", put our banking information into the system wrong. I caught it and reported the error when I was reviewing it but she had already filed our taxes. H&R Block told us this information could be amended and it will not affect us getting our return, but their might be a moderate delay but we'll get our refund. On 10/9 the IRS website stated they had deposited our return in our account. We did not have our return. I had to spend a day calling the IRS and waiting on hold. The IRS told me that you can't amend banking information and what should have happened was our tax preparer should have called the IRS immediately. Now, we have to wait for the IRS to get the money back and would mail a paper check. It's now 12/9, 6 months later and we still don't have our return. We provided them all the specific details and our disgust about our situation and H&R Block management offered us a huge $50 discount on our next years taxes. The hell with these places, we will refuse to do any business with HRB and I would be leary about these offices, they really don't know what they're doing and don't care.

This is a follow up to my review below, I know it looks like HR Block cared about resolving our…read moreissue but this could not be further from the truth. The corporate office has been lying to us and to this date has not resolved anything and we are still out our entire return. We did call the corporate with hopes that the last review had gotten their attention. After several emails and phone calls HR Block (Dorsey Riddick) told us in short, too bad. We contacted multiple professionals and they let us know because of their gross mishandling of our tax return they were liable to refund us immediately. We contacted them again and now we had gotten our issue moved (retention) to a Benjamin Allen in corporate. At this point we started to get a lot of "yes" answers and if we signed an agreement not to sue and they would have a check to us by the end of the week. We signed the paperwork and overnighted it back in hopes to put this disaster to bed. We follow up with them late last week, being the check never came and we were told they need a few days but by mid week. Mid week came but the check did not. We called again today and now we are being told it could be an additional 4-6 weeks before they can get a check approved and sent to us. HR Block should have legally sent us a check over 4 months ago because they messed up the direct deposit information on our return and their great "Emerald guarantee" means nothing. They legally have to honor mistakes like this immediately as per law but they don't and we saw through other reviews, this happens frequently. So be forewarned before using anyone of these "Tax Professional Services".
