I absolutely LOVE this library. I have spent so many hours here reading, planning, meeting, studying, printing, hanging with friends, exploring, etc. I love that such a rich resource exist and is accessible to so many communities. I love the PPLD system and this is one of the best branches. I especially love this branch for bringing my nieces and nephews. The children's area is so nice for smaller children. This location is conveniently located in the Briargate area. It has two levels, the bottom one has an abundant selection of books for all ages. We love coming here because there's always something to do. They have read aloud time for the little ones, they offer a quiet area where you can study and also have a gaming room too. Of course my kids were excited and wanted to go in but keep in mind that there's certain times permitted. Staff are always so helpful. From the kids area, teens and upstairs at the customer service table, they're available to lend a helping hand. A bonus is that they offer a charging station for cell phones outside their building. You'll need a 4-digit code to access it. Definitely check it out if you're in the area. read more

This library is phenomenal. Maybe I haven't been to enough libraries in my life, but I have never seen a full play area for kids built into a library - they have blocks, train sets, dress up clothes, a table with crayons and paper to sit and color, not to mention tons of computers and books. I spent most of my time in the kids area with my little one, but the rest of this place is huge, there's plenty of space to work or read alone and not be disturbed, not to mention classes and programs you can sign up for online to attend, and great conference areas. Why is this library not quite, like libraries should be? People are tutoring others in the open space desks vs using the individual study rooms (which are vacant). Others are using their cell phones as if they were elsewhere able to speak loudly, and again, not in a library. Whatever happened to librarians telling others to be quite? Do they not want confrontation? Do we need to police the site ourselves? VERY disappointing that this is even a topic I need to address. read more

I keep finding more and more to love about this library. The views are really top notch but that's just one of the great features of this place. The selection, both in the library and on Libby for audiobooks is amazing, so much seating available. The kid section is amazing and allows my kiddos to burn some energy and use their imagination some and leave with great books! It looks like they have so many events scheduled and the books that are picked by the staff on top for the kids are really phenomenal. We've found some new favorites by picking those! I always look forward to coming in here and am thankful for two huge parking lots so parking is never an issue! read more

Big library in a former contemporary office building. Plenty of quiet places to sit and set up your laptop. They have recently reopened the individual offices that you can book for 2 hour blocks. Wi-Fi is not secured which is the only negative for the library. Plenty of electrical outlets for your laptop. I use a Wi-Fi hot spot from my phone for internet access. read more

The coolest library in the country! Well, that's what I think from what I've seen and my mom's a librarian and I grew up in libraries and I even have a wallet just for my cross-country library card collection so I'm saying I'm comparing/ contrasting this library to/ with many a library and this is #1! That's not to say it's not without its faults, by any means. I'm zero percent a fan of how religious it's allowed to be while pretending not to be that by saying it's public space and people have freedom of speech in public places which is super-ironic because the Jehovah's Witnesses who stand around outside with their glaring, in-your-face, screaming proselytizing literature are not allowed to speak to people unless approached so ... clearly, they (the librarians and other library representatives) would not believe their own words were they to actually look into their purported message ... and I do not enjoy the church taking over the inside downstairs bulletin to spread their message of 'joy' and whatnot, either. I'm not even going to say they have the best selection of books -- but what they do have, as the name indicates, is a commitment to the future and incredible facilities with lots going on. It's incredible! So many classes, activities, events, conferences, things to do and learn and see and hear and get to know .... I did yoga, tai chi, made videos on high-quality cameras in a studio (Studio 21C, of course!) equipped with really nice lights, a green screen, some props, a sound isolation booth for sound-only recording, and not only that but there is instruction available so wow! It's so fun and inspiring -- plus it's got great views inside and out. I do wish, though, not for my sake but for some children I saw waiting outside in the windy cold for rides that there were some way or somewhere they could stay that were warmer and safer ... safer in terms of the weather, not other things. The bathrooms are nice and clean (at least almost always), you're allowed to eat inside -- no, not in the bathrooms! Gross! In the library! -- as long as the food is neat and you eat it carefully and it's not smelly, there's a courtyard, some really cool-looking birds hang out in the area, you can do tai chi and qi gong while looking out at the mountains through the big windows, there are vending machines, a nice little bookstore with intelligent volunteers, and just so much going on it's generally unbelievable enough to be mind-blowing. Incomparable, literally. Now, if only some of the ... patrons/ matrons and staff weren't so into talking about the devil, that would be really great! But hey, that's their holdup -- too bad for them! Um, no, I must add one more thing. The doors by the studio (21C, once again) are only for staff and it's really not easy to haul all one's gear all the way through the library. If the issue is those doors don't have a security metal detector or something (or whatever that is that's by the other doors for the public), then I think they should be installed and ... as much as I loved it, I stopped going when I was stopped from going out those doors which I did not realize I was not allowed to do. I was looked down at by someone-or-other and 'corrected' rather nastily on my behaviour and I just didn't want to be treated in that way .... I still think it's by far the best library in the country that I've ever experienced but that wasn't enough to make me want to keep going back because it made me so sad, it was so jolting and unexpected. I'd been going there frequently for a month at that point. In fact, it's the reason I stayed in the area as long as I did .... It's that much of a draw. It's inspired me to study film, as well. I want to feel more welcome there than I do. Oh, maybe it's also that they want to film everyone as they come and go, now that I think about it -- they do that when you come in the 'allowed' doors. It was mainly the nasty look I got, though, and the lack of communication when I verbally expressed my surprise that had me moving on elsewhere in my life .... I'll still give it five stars or even ten if possible because it so blows away the non-existent competition but that doesn't mean there isn't a ton of room for improvement! As far as the staff of Studio 21C, though, absolutely stellar! They/ you rock! Thank you!!!!!!!!!! :-D Just a tiny bit more: it's weird how we're treated based on how we do or don't look. If I appeared to have difficulty walking, I'm sure I'd be treated better and allowed to do things in a way that's easier and works better for me ... or at least not get nasty looks for wanting to walk and/ or carry things a shorter distance. Of course, it could just be that this -- was he security? I don't even know! -- person just isn't what we might call 'highly verbal,' but his disparaging look said everything .... He was apparently disgusted with me and it disgusted me, as well. :-( I'm still really grateful to the really great people, though! So caring! :-D read more

OMG. OMGOMGOMGOMG. I have never seen anything like this! What a phenomenal space! We were on vacation and needed to let our little one (17 months) get some play time, so we thought a library would be perfect. We had no idea how amazing this place would be. Of course, it has books and all the regular library offerings. But they also have a ton of makerspaces, spots to study or meet up, and the cleanest restrooms I have ever seen in a library in my entire life. We made our way to the kids section and I could not believe how much space there was! There's a ton of stuff for littles to play with and it was so clean. There was a playgroup starting soon after we arrived - this is an ongoing thing that you need to register for. However, they had a couple cancellations and let us join in. The staff is so friendly, kind, and helpful. I wish we had something like this at home. It would be my second home! read more

Wow, I really want to commend this public library in the Briargate area of Colorado Springs. I went to this library to renew my library card and my wife's now expired library card. I thought it was going to be a big, long hassle. But Josh, the library staff member who helped me, was friendly, efficient, and renewed our library cards in just minutes! I especially want to commend him and this library since it was incredibly busy there this morning as they were having a big vegan festival within the building today! read more

Best library I have visited in the Springs! Not the closest to me, but the best equipped and prettiest building. Hands down. This library is architecturally a treat, has great light throughout the day and offers gorgeous views of the Rockies. The staff is very knowledgeable and polite. They have a 3D printer and offer courses to use it. They also have a full bank of iMacs loaded with Lightroom, Photoshop, Bridge as well as other engineering and drawing software. Just call them and reserve your station for the allotted time before use. They also have a 2 story gallery lined with artwork. I absolutely LOVE this place. read more

Gosh this place rules. Be prepared to have your idea of a library blown out of the water!! This is a really new library which they're coining the "technology" library. And they definitely don't disappoint. This is the only library that would still be rad even if they didn't have books! Where to even begin? They have study rooms, gaming rooms with legit computers and the most recent video consoles, craft rooms for sewing and also 3D printers, and the list goes on! The staff is super friendly, and like all the other libraries around here they have that redbox-like thing to rent DVDs and video games to your liking. Oh yeah you can also borrow books, almost forgot that one! The only things I can nitpick is for some odd reason they have CAD programs on their computers, but to find a computer with adobe programs like flash, photoshop, or illustrator is an impossible task. I also wish there were more study areas with outlets, and that the hours were a little more extended, but I mean this was well beyond a 5 star experience and some of the things I'm nitpicking are obviously not possible due to a slew of reasons. Minor things at the end of the day! Now that I know this place exists, winter is going to be just a little easier to get through :) definitely worth checking out! Book or not ;) read more

If you're not using the Pikes Peak Libraries app you're missing out. It doesn't matter the size of the library. Gone are the days of libraries being known as quiet. I have tried visiting 3 libraries around COS and although they have some great features, resources and facilities they don't cater to someone wanting a quiet place to read or study. As I browsed one location there was a group of teenagers laughing and talking very loud, without any care that they were in the library. Well without me saying a word, the librarian who was in the same isle said to me, I know hey are loud and we would usually would want to say something to them, but nowadays we are trying to get more of that age group into the libraries. So that makes sense, I get it. I would also rather have teenagers in a library than out wondering around town, which could lead to the things me and my friends use to do haha. But it's too bad they can't be taught respect for the environment they are in. Any ideas where people go to study and read in peace now? Seriously. read more

This library has wonderful meeting facilities. But they are so inflexible that I would not recommend it for this purpose. If you find an available time and want to reserve a meeting room, you need to have the exact number of people who will be at the meeting. Any change in the number requires a reapproval of your request (and it may be turned down). I wanted to reserve the large room for 9 meetings throughout the year for a professional (non-profit) group. We have over 450 members but usually have about 60-80 at a meeting. We knew that if we wanted food, our only choice was to use their caterer and we would probably be paying $5-6,000 over the course of the year just for this. But unless we have the exact number of attendees when we make the initial reservation for the room, I was told we could not even put in the request. There is absolutely no way that we would have an exact count 1-2 months (or more) in advance. And if we do not reserve at least a month in advance, there is no guarantee that the room would be available. read more

This library is absolutely incredible. I have never seen such a well equipped public facility in all my life. There are activities and stations for people of all ages. Tons of computers, 3D printers, audio visual stuff, graphic design, and a performing arts center. I will miss this library when I move, because I know the chances of finding another place like this are slim to none. It's also really nice to see tax dollars being used so responsibly. This is way out of my way, but heard about children's play and book area so we took grandson-unit. He seemed to have a great time and enjoyed toys different from those at our and his parent-unit's house. Very large operation, I am looking forward to checking out their adult workshop when I have a chance. My oldest daughter-unit lives closer and gets in more than once a week, mostly to check out DVDs and the occasional book. I make heavy use of the bookmobile, and sometimes the Main (Penrose) Library. I am always amazed at how efficient and helpful the staff at every library is. read more

This is a great library. They have all of the normal library stuff, plus a 3D printer room, lots of computers, and tons of technology. I took my son to play and he had a blast in the kids area. The computers there had a ton of games that he really had fun with. read more

I really like this library. I was surprised of how nice it was on the inside and the side. Of the building facing the mountains is all windows, so you get a phenomenal view while their. Makes studying suck a little less. My only complaint is that on the bottom floor (where snacks are allowed), the tables near windows don't all have outlets. Other than that, no complaints! read more

This is my favorite library. Love bringing the kids here. They have an excellent selection of books for children and adults, with lots of rapid views as well. I never have to wait for a computer if needed. The library is always clean. I just wish the staff in the children's section were nicer. My oldest is learning how to navigate the library system for books, how to see if a book is in stock, where to check the shelves. We needed help finding a book, and the librarian acted like she couldn't be bothered to get up and help. I understand they have other tasks, but we were the only patrons at the desk requiring assistance. read more

If I could move in, I would. I am so tempted to spend all my free time here and be the Libary 21c overlord bwahahahaha. Now this is a 5 star library that other libaries should be modeling after. So ecstatic to see that part of the city budget was reinvested into maintaining a great public library system. The high caliber definitely shows. First off, large parking lot. Yes! One thing I know many of us dread is duking out for a parking space just to drop off books for 2 seconds. Second, its clean and doesn't smell like a locker room or alleyway. The facilities are well lit and spacious, and I haven't spotted any weirdos lurking in corners. Next, the variety of resources extends beyond books and movies. Offered here are multiple classrooms for hobbyists with an eclectic range of class subjects from 3-D printing and modeling to origami to quilting to Qi Gong/Tai Chi. Sometimes, events are hosted such as gallery shows and the like. Very kid friendly too, I think I also spotted a TV/game room for the kiddos in addition to the large kids book section. Movie nights are hosted occasonally as well. My favorite spot is the study area overlooking the mountains on the west side, seriously killer views of Pikes Peak. Did I also mention the indoor cafe that sells smoothies and snacks, yes I said that right. read more

It's a library which I am not a terrible fan of when you have Google in your pocket. But they have realized this and have made it cool inside with art displays, 3D prtiners, Lasers, pottery wheels, etc. It is more of a Maker Space now with some old books versus a wharehouse for old books with a couple computers. This is a useful library and a model template for what all libraries should look like from here on out. I take away a star for the Her Story cafe. read more

My daughter comes here every other Tuesday for tutoring. The staff downstairs is always helpful! However there is a man with dark hair and a woman with blond hair who sit and talk at the front counter! This man must be hilarious because the woman laughs very loud every few minutes! I dread coming here because I know they will be there ruining any chance of quiet study time. It's so irritating that I am seriously considering changing tutors!!!!! read more

The facility is amazing! I enjoy studying in this library. However, I think it would be much better if the employees would practice and reinforce some silence. Don't get me wrong, they are all very nice, courteous, and helpful; however, the majority of the employees speak loud and do not enforce silence to others. The children here tend to be loud, playing around, stomping on their feet, etc. Unfortunately, the study room are allowed for 2 hours only (to avoid noises) and the visit to the balcony upstairs are only allowed if you sign-up for the room that are attached to it. What a waste of space or access! It has such a beautiful view! Amazing facility though. I would have given 5 stars if silence was enforced and access to the balcony upstairs were allowed - sometimes we need a break from studying for too long and be allowed to enjoy some fresh air and great view of the mountain at the balcony upstairs. read more

I am new to this area and pleasantly surprised at the quality of this facility. My favorite place is the west side where I have an excellent view of Pike's Peak and the Front Range. There always seems to be an empty seat where I can read my book for a couple of hours and then go to the magazine section to browse. We are fortunate to live within 3 miles of the 21C Library! read more

I had previously made it my goal to spend as little time at the library itself as possible. They have a great feature where you can reserve a book online, they alert you when it is there, and they have 5 minute parking so I could zoom in, walk in, and pick up my books quickly. Today they had an event that I went to that got me to come in and take a look around. The space is awesome. They have multiple 3D printers, CNC machine, laser cutter/engraver, sewing machines, and a 3D scanner. There are some services they charge a small fee for (3D printing is 5 cents a gram) but the fee is so low that I think it is very reasonable. Sarah told me all about the maker space and how I can get trained to use the various equipment. The library has lots of study areas, and a very clean and stocked children's area. They offer all sorts of other classes...there was a painting class going on that looked fun. I will definitely be back to utilize all the other options I have been missing! read more
