Our tour guide the previous day advised us to wait until around 10-1030 before arriving to ensure vendors were open. We heeded his advice and yet 1/3 of the stalls were either still setting up or had not yet arrived so be aware of this when visiting. The area has plenty of space for lots to walk and gather, though there isn't much space to sit down and eat. There are a plethora of food stalls, fresh juices, sweets, meats and more. We wandered up and down each aisle stopping when we saw something interesting. We tried pastries, olives, tacos, candies and flavored salts. This was a great spot to pick up gifts for people back home.

Most stalls sold similar items. We did grab some oysters salty and unsalted. I preferred the salted one as it was less brinier. The lady liked the unsalted. It was 10euro for 4! They also had plenty of stalls with cured meats, cheeses, fresh squeezed juices, and like a fried outer dough with meat filling treats. I have no idea what they are called but we got some haha! Overall pretty chill spot, when we left and went out a back alleyway exit, there was some youngings one of which walked passed us then immediately turned and got super close following us. Not sure if they were filming pickpocket pranks or what but stand your ground and tell them off. Our only weird interaction really with possible pickpockets this trip that we noticed.

And they will give you samples of whatever ham they have out for carving. The gentlemen helping us was very nice and informative. Each piece we had was flavorful and yummy! The ham that was aged longer was easier to chew with less resistance. We decided to purchase the highest quality aged 5 years, which was less salty, but robust in meaty flavor. It was absolutely delicious with rustic French bread from the bakery close to our hotel. If you're sightseeing near Casa Batllo, it's only a 3-5 minute walk around the corner! We're not iberico ham connoisseurs and I'm not sure whether or not we could tell the difference between high end or mid range iberico ham. They're all very good! We probably could have gotten some less pricey ones from the markets and would have been just as satisfied. But nonetheless, it was nice to buy something luxurious to enjoy while in Spain.

We felt we found a gem in this district as we tried plates of cheeses and hams, delicious wine and champagne, and a lovely atmosphere. The employees were outstanding. They were friendly and happy to explain all the offerings.

So it's nothing fancy here- just a lot of ham. We came in here looking for pork breakfast. There's a small restroom in the back on the pork shop. Down a small ramp, it's almost like being in a bunker with ham legs all along the wall. Om nom nom nom. They have a large variety of hams. You can choose from the different grades of pig, where they come from, what they ate, how long the ham has been aged. Some of these hams are 5+ years old! They have a carving station up at the front, where locals come in and grab a cone of ham, a little paper cup like you get at the water cooler, filled with ham sliced super thin. You can watch them carve up the ham hocks they have at the front. They carve like masters. They also sell the ham pre-packed and ready to go in little coolers. We opted for ham sandwiches, which had different varieties of ham on hard bread rolls, with coffee. The service was relaxed. I recommend the Bellota ham, where the pigs only ate acorns. The ham is a darker color, richer, fuller, maximum delicious.
