Like most markets in Europe, bring a bag. And if possible bring back that plastic bottle, they take 25 cents as a deposit. The cold buffet for 1.09 Euros is not bad either. The Sweet-Chilli-Hackfleischballchen as one of the choices is yummy. Add a cup of fruit to the mix for 2.13 Euros and I'm set.

Today's shopping did not disappoint. I did find a few gift items to take home for friends and family. I went in originally to get the 6 pack of Hefeweizen beer- I love that they are in plastic bottles- so much lighter to carry home with me- plus they are wrapped together, so easier to pack. An added bonus was they had the special cookies my husband asked for, the ones the other 2 stores did not have. As well as the adorable little Octoberfest mixer minis. Such a cute gift idea. I will always pop in here to look, cuz you never know what fun treasures you will find. However, I always find the store has an odd smell. Plus it doesn't appear to be that clean or tidy inside. The staff is plenty friendly, and happy to help you look for items.

There are coin operated grocery carts in a carosel outside just like here. Funny, didn't see coin carts at any other stores while shopping in any of the majory cities or small towns. I wonder if this is truely an Aldi concept. The inside looks like the the inside of any Aldi in Chicago. Boxes of groceries are stacked no different than they are here. There is a "special of the week" section and tons of alcohol! Fresh fruits and veggies, frozen and dry goods, everything seems the same as your typical Aldi. One major difference, and it's the reason for the lower rating... You can buy fresh bread from this huge bread box that has buttons for you to select your bread. That was cool but I noticed some breads that were sitting on one of the crates looked moldy. That freaked me out. Germany, like most European countries, have fresh baked bread bakeries EVERYWHERE! Hence, no need to sell "fresh bread" other than sliced for toast of buns in an Aldi. Oh well, it's a model that works for this mega-chain. They must be doing something right, I mean it was weekday morning and the place was jam packed. Oh, and if you need a pack of smokes, they have a dispenser for that too.

They had the typical packaged meals, along with fresh bread and produce. My husband had the packaged couscous, and I chose the veggie wrap. While paying for the food, I noticed they also offered hot tomato soup, so I also got this. The hubby loved the couscous and gobbled in dow quickly (he can eat like a dog and it is hard to keep up with him!) My veggie wrap had tomatoes, lettuce, roasted red pepper and cream cheese. Nice and filling. The tomato soup was the star of the meal. Being that it was chilly in Frankfurt and I can live off of soup, this was wonderful. Nice and creamy and just the right amount of spices. Yum!

They sell these Belgium butter waffles in packages from a brand called Covo that are really good, packaged wieners, packed foods, dairy like milch and yogurt, baby food + pampers, beauty products like hair shampoo. Oreos for €1.49Euros but in a small 5 pack and Nutella for €2.49Euros. There's bread and frozen items in back. Came here at like 8pm on a weekday and it's quiet in here. But it's clean and organized, much room to walk around and bright. The great thing is it has a good handful of American products: Mountain Dew and Red Bull included.
