Our Sweetheart Table and Head Table!
Jenn M.

We looked at almost 20 vendors for our April 2016 wedding, and we got lucky with Lido Banquets. They're actually partnered with Manzo's Banquets in Des Plaines, and we went with Lido, since it was more affordable for us. Lido had the best price for the best type of meal, and they accommodated so many things for us. First of all, they are located in Jefferson Park, right on Milwaukee, and we couldn't have picked a better location for us and our guests. The great thing about it was that there is only one banquet room. I was worried about sharing banquets with other wedding parties, and this is pretty much what sold me. The second HUGE thing about this banquet was the price. We looked at the menu options, and the Manager, Joanna, said we could either do Individual Plates, or Family Style, which is the same price......WAIT WHAAAAT? that was definitely the best menu pricing in the whole Chicago-Northwest Suburban area. Other great things about Lido, were that they had a bridal suite/coat check (whichever one you wanted to use it as), a nice looking bar, a huge dance floor, and updated/easy-to-access bathrooms for our older guests. The tasting process was a bit unique, since they are only able to give you tastings when they have parties, but it makes sense, since they don't have a restaurant part, and they are mainly a banquet for special occasions. We booked this banquet about a year before our wedding, and I am so glad we did, because it was definitely worth it! I remember that my husband and I stopped looking after we found Lido Banquets. They give you options of chair covers, colored napkins, uplighting, and they even have centerpieces that you can use! They made everything easy, and we are so happy we found Lido!!! Our wedding was amazing, thanks to Joanna and the staff, and our guests kept telling us that they loved the food! If we have another big party, my husband and I will definitely come back and book with Lido...they really take care of you and I hope they stay in business for many years to come!

The phone was ringing in the background the entire time. Several people in line. 2 people helping customers. One woman and one man. Woman helped everyone while man was on computer the entire time. Specifically asked for a room with 2 beds. Upon entering room noticed there was one bath towel. If there are 2 beds,. Why would you supply only one towel? Also one tiny bottle of shampoo. Had to go to front desk to get more towels. I assumed the next day when they made up the room they would catch that and correct it. I didn't know that the room was only made up once every five days? What hotel does this? I would not have minded had they told me when we checked in. My used towels were thrown on the bathroom floor. Again assuming like any normal hotel this would be taken care of by housekeeping. We were out all day Saturday visiting my son. When we returned there was no where to park. Luckily after driving around for quite awhile someone left and I was able to park way far away in the back. There was a wedding going on. Very noisy children running around and screaming until very early in the morning. No coffee for customers. (You could by a cup for $3.00.) I had two Keurigs that I used Saturday morning. I thought they would be replaced by housekeeping. (They would have if there were any.) I had recently returned from a trip of several days in the same areas. MIchigan, Illinois and Indiana. We stayed at several hotels. This was by far the worst one. I will not stay at a Holiday Inn again. The excuse that Covid is ruining everything cannot stand in this case. The other Hotels I stayed at were more than adequate. Why can't Holiday Inn do at least as well?

Today I visited the Volunteer Resource Center (VRC) near Edgebrook Woods. They held a program for Black History Month; I really want to support this type of cultural programming within the FPCC system, and it's an added bonus that it sounded interesting. The VRC is right near the Edgebrook Golf Course--the same entrance is for both. But unless you've been to an event here or go to the golf course, you're unlikely to known this was here. It's a really great event space which the FPCC rents out for various events. There's a different rate for county residents versus non-residents, and the cost differs for Monday-Thursday and Friday-Sunday dates. However, the rates seem really reasonable to me. There's a main room which is especially lovely; there's a large fireplace, high ceilings, and a lot of space--this room can hold 100 people. The classroom is much smaller and can accommodate up to 40. Both those spaces can be rented independently of one another, and I think you can rent portions of the golf course as well? All the information is on the webpage. The main room has a kitchen space as well so you can work with a caterer for your event. I wish I had an event for which I could use this space; I'll bet it's especially beautiful in the spring and summer. There are picnic tables just outside the indoor facility, and parking is plentiful as well.

We arrived early for our reservation and were taken right in. We ordered two appetizers, the bacon & potato croquettes and the corn bread in the iron skillet. They were both very good. I had the Prime Rib, it was flavorful and brought out exactly how I wanted it--rare. My daughter had the rotisserie chicken and was very pleased with her meal. My wife had the Pike Place Salmon with the smashed cucumbers. She would order it again. The skillet cookie we ordered to share for dessert was very undercooked. It was just a smidgeon over raw dough. While it had the ice cream, it didn't have the caramel the menu advertised. A few more minutes in the oven would have solved the raw dough issue The server was obviously new and had some missteps. He was late to greet the table in a half full restaurant. The drinks had a late arrival-after the appetizers had arrived and never came back to check on the table. It also took an inordinate amount of time to find him to get the check then having him return with the receipt. The restaurant was very clean and tidy, extra points given for having immaculate restrooms. Some suggestions: Perhaps another potato option(s) besides mashed or fries. A loaded baked potato would have been perfect with my Prime Rib. Have another soup(s) offered on the menu besides the soup du jour.

Sent out deserts and didn't bother to clear the dinner plates that were obviously finished. And didn't give the kids spoons for their ice cream right away so it melted by the time it was received. Also, no birthday candles on hand?! Put kids hot hot food directly in front of them bc the table was full of menus. Why not help clear the table and make some room? Had to ask for extra plates multiple times for our massive, to share desert. The kicker. Charged us for kids meals when they are free before 6. When we asked they removed from bill. But this is the second time this has happened here. I am beginning to think the policy is to charge unless the patron brings it up. Sad because the atmosphere here is lovely.
