I made the massive mistake of hiring his company to do some dirt work, lay some concrete, and remove and replace a retaining wall in my yard. It was a $12k estimate. Things started off fine, and demolition was accomplished in one day. Then when they poured the concrete, he claimed the concrete itself cured too quickly for them to properly finish it. They blamed Standard Concrete. Suits from this company came out and inspected the concrete and found nothing wrong with it, but Ryan said he wouldn't put his name on the work, and came out and tore up most of it without my permission. He ruined my entire backyard with his skid steer while doing it. His guys framed to repour, but then he quit working and kept asking for more money. I ended up paying the $12k estimate in full just to get him to come finish the job, but even that wasn't enough. He now wanted more money than that, and refused to complete any more work. He was awful to me and treated me horribly, and at one point even texted me "F*** you" among other things. I still have every text he sent me for proof. I finally refused to work with him anymore. I only got the retaining wall removed, my backyard destroyed, and maybe 100 foot of sidewalk done for $12k. I hired another company to complete the job because I couldn't stand the thought of seeing or talking to Ryan again. He's truly an awful person.

Josh Delair I gave Josh Delair $4000, half of what he quoted me for my basement bathroom remodeling…read moreproject. Part of this was supposed to cover materials. After almost 8 weeks (during which time he showed up for no more than 2 consecutive days in a week and no more than 3 hours in a given day) he finally just stopped showing up - he left his tools, which I'm guessing he bought just for this job because they were the cheapest non-construction grade tools I've ever seen. The work he did was sloppy - a complete hack job. He violated at least 4 building codes and the materials he'd brought in included "economy" lumber (and some just straight up used) and a broken, and incomplete shower kit that was from the Menards "Ray's List" (clearance bin). The lumber/sheetrock he'd purchased wouldn't have even been enough to do what he was supposed to complete the job. He refuses to give me any of the receipts for materials (probably because he lost them. I found at least two of them in my basement with his soda bottles and candy wrappers). Based on what he brought into my home, he spent at MOST $900 on materials. He claims that he's sick - even claimed he has cancer when I called him out on his 4 hour work week. He claimed that he'd been in the hospital many of the days that he didn't show up. This is a lie. With my own eyes I saw him at Walmart, happy and healthy, during TWO of the times that he was supposedly hospitalized. What kind of person lies about cancer to get out of working? In the end, it's just as well that he didn't finish because I'd have been left with a poorly constructed, structurally dangerous, and ugly basement bathroom. He refuses to give me back any of the money he took from me. I had to pay a skilled contractor to fix the mess Josh Delair left as well as complete the job as originally needed. Based on the nightmare experience I had with him, I'd say Josh DeLair is unskilled and unqualified to do any kind of construction work.
