Worst office staff!!! This review is specifically about the staff. I called to reschedule my dad's appointment (which was scheduled six months out), and the person on the phone immediately made me feel like I was bothering her. When I tried to ask a few questions, she became impatient and started raising her voice. No patient or family member should ever be treated this way. This is not the first negative interaction I've had with the front office staff--they consistently come across as rude and dismissive. Professionalism and basic courtesy are clearly lacking. I have seen a very bad review about Doctor Lien. But for me personally I M very Blessed to have him as My Heart Doctor. I know that the waiting period is long sometimes but I always prepared myself at least haft an hour to 45'. But when Is my turn up . I feel safe to see him with a confident that He is the good and very responsive Doctor to check your Heart and diagnose the symptom I told him and with right meds He gave me it really work. Please don't bring your family members to see this doctor. I've witnessed a lot of questionable practices in this office. He cares more about making money than diagnosing his patients. My mom visited him to try to figure out her heart condition after a couple ER visits. We brought the medical records and results from the hospital, but he waved them off and made her do a bunch of the same tests again. The kicker is when we came back for a follow up, we found out that he never even look at the tests he made my mom take. When we questioned him, he ran to the back of the office and dig out her ultrasound and imagining results and tried to analyze them on the spot. He barely looked at them and then told her that her heart was fine. Which is insulting to our intelligence. This guy is just making people take tests at his office so he can charge their insurance and medical coverages. When my mom told him that she has been feeling weak and a lot more fatigue than usual, his response was "what do you want me to tell you? when you are old, it's normal to be tired." What kind of unprofessional response is this?! Just a warning. Please don't let your elderly parents visit this unethical doctor. There are other cardiologists out there. read more

If I could negative stars, I would. These people are a bunch of frauds who uses their knowledge to their advantage against old people who doesn't know much when it comes to insurance and billing. My dad had an appointment here, in which my brother has called to verify insurance networks and made the appointment. He was told that they take his insurance and charged him for a copay. A couple weeks later, my dad was given a bill for almost $400 for his 5-10 minute exam. The billing department, a old rude Vietnamese lady, called my dad several times and threatened that she will send the bill to collection. He said he will contact his insurance. I called his insurance and his insurance was not even in network with the doctor's office. I called the doctor's office and began asking if they accepted his insurance and they said no. I don't understand why that old lady accepted his insurance in the first place. I talked to her and she lied and told me that the office does accept it the day of service but the insurance didn't pay. That doesn't make any sense because I have several years of billing and marketing. This lady is a liar and she couldn't even admit to her mistake instead, she hung up on me. My grandmother had an appt 10:30AM, of course we decided to arrive around 9:30AM because parking would be easier to find. When it was 10:30AM, the front office called every patient in but my grandmother. I even came to the front and asked the Asian woman when will my Grandma be seen by the doctor. She told me FOUR more patients, despite the fact they came late to their appointments. Dr.Lien and his office staff doesn't know how to book patients in. If you know an appointment with a patient can take up to an hour then leave an hour gap between each patients. What is the point of appointments if you can't even follow through? I really thought doctors care about their patients and the quality of health care they're providing to them. You won't find this kind of mentality at this doctor office. There are so much more cardiovascular doctors who actually care for their patients and have nice attentive staff. I don't recommend this doctor at all. The only reason why we went to this doctor is because my grandma's family doctor referred to him. Now I know to ask for a different doctor, because this is upsetting. If you do decide to go, prepare to wait pass an hour to two for your appointment. If you give any sort of attitude or complain to the front, they'll give you a harder time and not acknowledging your health condition. Prepare to feel upset, because a doctor and his staff doesn't understand the meaning of quality healthcare and patients' needs. read more

First encounter with Dr. Lien was at regional when mother dearest was admitted for chest pain and as it turns out she was having a heart attack which was caught during a good time. Any later and it could've been fatal. Fast forward... The one week follow up appointment at his office. The wait was about 20 mins before we were seen, which wasn't that bad considering there were quite a few patients before us. Everyone in the office was very welcoming and didn't mind my wild toddlers at all (when you don't have a babysitter and have to bring them along). +++! Dr. lien is very knowledgeable and thorough. He went over the imagines that was captured during the angiogram. Explained what was done, where the blockage was... what his team did... and the after results of the heart. He even reviewed all of her medications. He covered it all and left me with no questions to be asked. read more

Waiting times are usually from one hour to two hours! Doctor spends time with patients approximately 5 minutes or less since he must be hurry! Don't be surprised if you have the same appointment time with other patient for seeing the only one doctor here. If you complain, the rude older female staff will give you more hard time. Not worth for the health of your heart! I had to find a better cardiology office to give my heart a better care. Most of the patients keep going here are elderly ethnic minorities. I am literally sitting here writing this because I've already waited two hours with my dad! As one of the receptionist was walking out the door and left my dad hooked up to the EKG, my dad asked her if the process was done... She looked at him and walked out the door. Wtf... I don't know if she has has a bad day or something but as a health care provider, you are supposed to do your best to help out patients who are in pain or in need of help. NOT be bitches to them! She needs to adjust her attitude and act like she wants to work here!! Let's see how long this appointment will take... EDIT In the middle of my dad's consultation, he took a 5 minute phone call and didn't even ask my dad to wait or apologize or have the courtesy to step out of the room. RUDE. TOTAL TIME: 2 hours 30 minutes... Which makes ME late for my own doctor's appointment that's 15 mile drive away... Great. read more

This office overbooks all of their appointments. They have all appointments booked across 10 minute slots. You get no time with the doctor and he is extremely hurried. He wants to "turn and burn" the patients with absolutely no patience for listening. I had to come in with my mom because she was going to get a procedure done but had no idea if she needed it or not. I asked her questions and she wasn't able to explain to me what procedure was going to take place. When talking to the doctor he said that "he does it job and it's the patients that are old and don't remember what he's telling them." He opened Google images and showed pictures of what the procedure would look like and I asked my mom if any of this information was familiar and she said no. She had no idea that they were going to put a tube in her arteries and potentially put a stint in.. Seems like something a patient should know and understand at the bare minimum... I feel sorry for the staff because they are all setup to fail. It seems they are overworked & multi-tasking so inefficiently. This doctor is a "man with a hammer" and everything is a "nail" that needs hammering. I don't feel comfortable taking my family here. read more

Called to get clarification and to setup a follow up since the pharmacy indicated the doctor would not fill her prescription until this was done. The lady who answered the phone was extremely rude. Provided one response to my questions and repeated it verbatim. I said I know but my question is... then she told me, rudely, "tell her to go to vmc and take all her pills and ask them!" My mother goes here and mostly takes herself. Dr lien is a doctor. Typical long office wait time (over an hour) and staff attitudes not for all visitors. Overbooked is not the word. This is the WORSE office to go to!!!!! Due to my husband's business travel, it was difficult to schedule appointment and I had to rescheduled the appointment three times. This time, my husband were able to change his business travel schedule so he could attend the appointment which I had clearly rescheduled for him at 11:40am on Tuesday. We arrived at the office at 10:30am since we know that there are forms we need to complete as new patient and to beat the traffic. The girl at the front desk rudely said that we didn't have an appointment and was given us an attitude problem. She said that there was an appointment for Aug. 25th, but my husband didn't show up. I told the girl that I had called in and rescheduled the appointment and was able to get one for Oct. 5th @11:40am!! She went on and rudely told us that we need to provide the doctor name, referral, the insurance information. If she had looked in her system, my husband's doctor had already fax the referral over to them! The entire time that my husband and I were there after signing in, we personally witness the rude attitude from the doctor's front desk staff to the elderly patients. The girl handling the appointment is RUDE with POOR English accent!!!! If she talk and treat patients with such rudeness, I could only imagine how she must be treating and talking to her parents and grandparents at home. If the doctor allows his staff to be rude to the patients, then he himself must be rude to the patients as well and probably doesn't care about their health either!!! Needless-to-say, my husband and I told the girl we do not need to be treated rudely by her or by anyone from that office and we walk out of the office. If you don't mind being treated rudely and disrespectful, then go see the doctor otherwise, there are plenty of other good cardiologists out there that care for their patients' wellbeing and the staff treat the patient with respect. I apologize for the mistake.* We had an appointment with Dr. Lien, cardiologist that was scheduled for 12:00pm which was just a follow up for all the previous tests. We arrived 30 minutes early just so we can check in and relax while waiting. It is 1:14pm now. We have been here for nearly 2 hours waiting for my client to discuss the results of her heart exams from a month ago. This is unacceptable. I feel so bad for my client as I'm sure she is anxious waiting for the results. Staff shouldn't schedule an appointment and it takes over an hour to be called while other clients who came in after my client were being called in to see the doctor. There should be a disclaimer that states: Don't schedule other appointments on the same day as your Dr. Lien appt as you will be late for that next appointment. My mom insist on going to this doctor for years and every times I drove her there I wait easily 2 hours or more and my mom always arrive before appointment time. This doctor only sees patients that pay cash first, higher premium insurance. Anything else under that he will let them wait forever regardless of appointments. This cardiologist hau lien is horrible. He didnt tell my dad that he has a 90% coronary block until 2 years after the procedure (he was 1 hour late to the procedure, my dad medication worn off , could feel the incission and in extreme pain when the doctor perform the procedure). After the procedure the doctor didn't tell my dad anything about one of his coronary artery being 90% block until recenty (2years later) my dad went back for check up he told us about that. My family was in shock.I m still very upset.. This is malpractice.. should get sue for that.. Not only that after I questioned their work, he doesntt want to treat my dad anymore asked my dad go somewhere else. Unbelievable! The doctor is horribe .. the receptionists are rude.. This review was based on my inlaw's stay at the Regional in San Jose, not a doctor's office visit. I'm afriad it might get taken down since this involves MALPRACTICE!!! Inlaw had a minor heart attack in December 2015. Dr Lien performed angioplasty but was not successful. He suggested open heart surgery. Inlaw was in his late 80's, family didn't want him to go through such a huge operation. We opted for a second opinion. Dr Hoang M Nguyen stepped in, performed angioplasty successfully. No open heart surgery was needed. Fast forward to April 2019. Inlaw had a fever. We took him to the ER. Afraid he might get pneumonia, Regional admitted him. On his third day at the hospital, Dr Lien called my husband (husband just stepped out) while he's in the hospital room visitng inlaw at around 6pm. Dr Lien said on the phone, inlaw's heart rate was irregular and if inlaw doesn't switch his blood thinner, he will get a stroke within a day or two (15 minutes later, he changed to one year). It scared the crap (excuse me) out of the whole family. Inlaw had stayed in the hospital the past few days, no one told us he had any heart issues, just a fever that needed to be monitored. So we were blaming the hospital for not updating us inlaw's heart problem. Since it was getting late, we decided we need to speak to inlaw's attending doctor the next day and try to find out what's going on. The following day we met with the attending doctor, upset and explained to him we got a phone call from Dr Lien. We asked the nurse to check inlaw medical records and why we were not told inlaw had heart rate issues. Nurse said there was no indication on inlaw's chart that he had heart rate problem. Everything was normal. We were scratching our heads. Then we asked the nurse to dig deeper. Turned out NO records showed Dr Lien was asked to see inlaw. He was not referred by any doctors. And the chart didn't show Dr Lien visited inlaw the previous day! So clearly, Dr Lien was not supposed to see my inlaw. He saw the WRONG patient and gave false information which scared the family the whole night!!! We filed a formal complaint at the hospital. Met with the Nursing Director on the floor. Told him what happened. Also mentioned to him that Dr Lien changed his mind and asked us to sign some paperwork allowing him to switch inlaw blood thinner. When was the last time you need to sign a paperwork for the doctor to switch medicines? Nursing Director was shaking his head a few times when we told him the whole ordeal. Which indicated that he agreed with us the whole thing was VERY WRONG. He later explained if a doctor asks a patient to sign in that particular situation, that means the doctor cannot access the patient's record, which clearly means he was not referred to inlaw because otherwise he would have been able to access patient's file. Nursing Director also said at that point Dr Lien knew he was seeing the wrong patient and that was why he asked for a signature so he can access inlaw's chart. Then why in the world would Dr Lien carried on the wrong doing and asked patient to switch medications. I'm glad we didn't sign anything and no medication was switched. Who knows if the new meds was right for inlaw or not! At the end we told Nursing Director that we do not wish Dr Lien to ever get close to inlaw. We were glad to hear the hospital could block the doctor from seeing inlaw in the future. Unfortunately we will never find out if there are any disciplinary actions for Dr Lien due to doctor/hospital privacy. read more

I would give zero stars if I could. This place is pretty bad. The doctor is impersonal and has bad bedside manner. He kept speaking to me in Vietnamese even after I told him that I am not Vietnamese. I arrived early for my treadmill test but was told that I'd have to reschedule due to a malfunction. Fine, fair enough (although he was pretty unapologetic about it). The receptionist said I would have to return sometime that afternoon, and she'll give me a call once it's fixed. Didn't receive a phonecall that afternoon or even the day after. I had to call them and sure enough, it had been fixed for a while and she forgot to call. It's also really difficult communicating with the billing department to see that my balance had been paid off. My insurance company didn't recognize him as in-network (insurance company was at fault), and the office was pretty unresponsive about confirming they were in-network. Eventually that got sorted out, but it took about 5 phonecalls. I kept being told to call back later, or to leave my phone number, which I later gave up on because I didn't get a phonecall. I'm just really glad I've severed all ties with this place. Last time I ever go with a doctor's referral without first consulting Yelp. Oh yeah, they only accept cash or cheque. read more

My first visit today. So far so good. It's a very busy office and had to wait but many offices are like that. Have waited longer at other offices and labs. The front office staff were nice. Nice and clean office conveniently close to home and next to Regional Medical Center. I like that they have a patient portal and patient records are electronic. They scanned my documents into the system. Dr. Lien is courteous, knowledgeable, and informative. He took to time to answer some of my questions. I had lots of questions so I didn't ask him all my questions before he started leaving the room. read more
