Sugarrays on Granville, buyer beware, the owner is rude, aggressive, and may have boxers dementia…read more The sales pitch is friendly service, but most member avoid the owner and won't come in if he is there. The staff trainers are good but they all leave after a few weeks or months. The owner will not train anybody. He may know a lot, but so what if he never teaches it. Otherwise, the standard boxing techniques are not allowed for beginner, this leaves lots of confusion as many people already have some training in proper boxing technique. It seems the Sugarrays methods are weird and outdated, not the stuff Freddie roach or Russ Anber use as basic boxing technique or almost all other boxing gyms. The owner insults members and staff in front of all making a very unfriendly space to train, trainers have to hid standard training methods, members are getting frustrated, it is too sad, as it could be a good gym if under better management. Former members sincere comments. If you really want to learn proper boxing , pay a bit more, and go to well know trainers like north Burnaby boxing, griffins, or dynamics or queens bough, or tony pep in new west. East side boxing also should be up and running soon and will likely put Sugarrays out of business or take a lot of members. Also try "Beyond Boxing in east van. The owner really needs some training in sport science at the university level and also some business management skills to boot. Otherwise, some members think the equipment is great - not really have a look at any online retailer of boxing stuff (rival , ringside, canbox, title) modern boxing gyms have more than the old standby equipment. Clean, modern and spacious (not too many people) gym in the heart of Golden Village, aka Aberdeen…read morearea. Although price is comparable to Steve Nash, I am now going to AF Richmond because it is transit friendly (by Aberdeen Station), & they don't have pushy sales people. The gym is brand spanking new, so they have modern and new equipment. They have a good range of cardio and strengthening equipment. They even have a punching bag to take out your frustrations on! That's exciting for me. Plus, you can watch a show of your choice as you're on the cardio machines. If you dread going to the gym like I do, this is a big deal. They're open all the time, with staff on site during mall hours. Otherwise, you work out at any time with your special access fob. The gym has towel service and three individual bathrooms (1 washroom and 2 showers). There's not that many people at this point (or at least when I go in the evening), so you won't have to hang too closely with other sweaty peeps like yourself. Facility seems to be environmentally friendly with water bottle fountains and automatic lights in the bathroom. Maybe the lights are environmentally friendly too? At least, I hope so. The only downside is they don't have that many group classes. Zumba, martial arts and some other class. I hope they add more classes soon. Overall, I'm pretty happy with my membership, mostly because it is more accessible to me=I can go there more often. I pay about $45/month, which is okay. At least I actually use this membership because of above reason. Plus, the franchise owners are approachable and helpful. Always a good way to start!

Scammed me out of $800…read more Then cancelled my contract without me even knowing. Charged me double for a long time. Won't admit it even though my contract says it in black and white I was only supposed to be charged $14.99/Month. This gym, Steve Nash Fitness World or Fitness World, is the most horrible place you could go to. The staff are terrible and so rude. They will call you a liar even when they are lying. They became incredibly rude as I've had experienced with Renee Kearns (many times now) at the Burnaby location which is their head office she says. Refuses to provide any other contact info or names. If she owns the business then I'd say sure but she does not and is making this company look even more horrible than it already does. Renee decides when she feels like replying and if its too much for her to handle she simply just does not respond ever again. I'm appalled and actually shocked at this childlike behaviour. I'm close to starting an action in the CRT if this behaviour persists. But long story, short DO NOT GO TO THIS GYM.

My husband and I have been members of this location for a few years now. The personal trainers and…read moreregular staff have always been nice, but since it's become under new ownership, the new staff are not lively about doing paper towel, disinfectant and hand soap checks/refills. We're in a pandemic FFS and we don't have the tools to wipe our machines down and wash our hands. What's even more irritating is that tonight all 5 sinks in the woman's washroom had bone dry soap dispensers so I had the courtesy of telling a front desk staff. He says "I'm not a female worker so I can't go in there but I'll let another worker know". I just KNEW he wasn't going to tell anyone! After my 20 min cardio I went to wipe down my machine and lo and behold no paper towels. It wasn't the first time, it was the third time, and I don't even come as often as I should to the gym. I ended up using a random hand wipe on the machine out of desperation, then I went to the hand soaps again to double check. Oh look, nothing in all 5! What a surprise. So I went to the front desk again and got greeted by a different idiot just standing there looking pretty. I told him that I told his coworker 20 minutes ago and his excuse was the same, "I'm not a female worker" but this time he added "the cleaning lady is supposed to come at 7pm and the staff don't know how to refill the dispensers". Are you f serious? I straight up told him "if no one knows how to go upstairs to Shoppers Drug Mart and buy a small $2 soap pump as a reasonable back up then you guys need to learn. There is no excuse and this is unacceptable. Your business needs to provide cleaning tools for staff and customers to utilize during the pandemic! Even without the pandemic, as a staff member doing a full time shift are you going to poo and then not wash your hands??" He was dumbfounded...all he had to say after that was "I'll tell my manager". Yeah right. No balls and no brains to take the initiative for the health of people and the sake of the business. Just watch, there WILL be an outbreak of COVID-19 in this gym. Guaranteed.

I only wish that it wasn't always so fully packed with people. It can be quite difficult to do certain poses with so many people being inches away from you. The instructors are also friendly, non-judgmental, and quick to provide support whenever I needed help. One last thing I would mention is that hot yoga isn't for everyone. I personally prefer regular flow yoga because I sometimes find the hot temperature to be too much for me. From my understanding, they do not offer regular flow yoga classes here. Other than that, I would highly recommend Oxygen Yoga & Fitness to anyone seeking to begin practicing or continue practicing yoga!
