With a display case packed full of the finest gelato in all of South Italy only to be surrounded by…read morethe most beautiful of tarts and cakes I could only imagine during the high season as this gelato shop mere steps away from the Ionian sea it's packed with hungry and hot tourists looking to quench the heat with a lemon sorbetto and a beautifully made espresso. This spot maybe considered a bit touristy being located one block away from the main shopping street here in reggio Calabria, But by no means has the quality of the product been compromised nor is it of exorbitant price. Although there is a small amount of seating inside and out on the curb I can only imagine the purpose of the shop is to serve all of the busy tourists who come down to the South and are out to enjoy an evening or early morning walk along the boardwalk in front of the beautiful Ionian sea.

We started with the Ruoto di Bufalo- a good mix of fried veggies, Arancini, fried cheese and dough. All delicious except the fried dough was a bit bland and that was the biggest portion. For main, Spaghetti alla Nerano with fried Zucchini and cheese was tasty and enjoyed. Based on recommendation, also ordered pizza fritta-a monstrous calzone that is fried and filled with tasty buffalo ricotta and pork cracklings-enough for two. A Naples dish and they did it right. We finished with a couple of Macchiatos which hit the spot. Service was attentive and friendly. They have been ranked top 50 artisanal pizzerias in the world for the last 5 years.
