I am a federal employee who is not allowed to work because of the furlough. Needless to say, having…read moreno income and being denied the right to work is incredibly stressful. Add to that some severe knee pain that prevents me from my normal exercise routine, and I was pretty miserable. I took advantage of a deal and after one acupuncture treatment, I had considerable relief in my knee. I returned the following week for another treatment. That was a rough day for me...I hit a wall of frustration over not working. Lauren W. and Nathan K. saw my stress and delved into the cause. They were patient, listened, made me laugh and, above all, were EXCEEDINGLY kind. Kindness is a sort of medicine too. I have a good support network of family and friends, but there is something about the kindness of strangers that elevates it. It really was overwhelming. They conferred on my second treatment, and I got all needled up. If you are a skeptic like me, just let go of that crap and give it a go. It really is extraordinary. i am an extremely curious person, and Nathan and Lauren were patient in answering, not with some high-falutin' dismissive attitude, but with humor and a matter-of-factness that instilled confidence. I would be remiss ifI did not also thank Denys and the others from my first visit, who were also very kind. Give this place a shot...you'll be impressed.

MILITARY VETERANS AND OTHERS STAY CLEAR!…read more I had a terrible experience with this massage school, and I feel compelled to warn others. First off, they never explained that housing benefits would cease during the clinical portion of the program. As a veteran, getting housing allowance while going to school is an amazing benefit and one that we don't want to miss out on. This isn't a problem at other schools like MDC. This critical information was omitted, leading me to drop out. I had one class left before finding this out. To add insult to injury, they charged me $200 for leaving the program and even made me pay for my transcripts. The main teacher, Mrs. Kim, made the entire experience unbearable. She was unprofessional, borderline psycho, and made the program so miserable that I no longer wanted to continue. She even went as far as holding me after class in an attempt to break me as a person. Her behavior was incredibly weird, and the only relief came when she finally left. Her brother was a way better teacher. He didn't seem to use the class as much as an ego stroke or soapbox like it was for his sister Kim. The program itself is a joke. The tests are poorly written, and the professors seem more interested in passing students through than actually teaching the material. There's no syllabus provided, making it nearly impossible to prepare for exams or understand what content to focus on. This place is a mess, and it's telling that they don't allow Google reviews--probably because they know how bad the feedback would be. Instead, you're forced to leave reviews on Yelp, where it's harder for the truth to come out. All in all, I do not recommend this program at all. Save your time, money, and sanity by looking elsewhere.

If I could give negative stars, I would…read more I've been coming to this establishment for almost 13 years. I don't know if ownership changed somewhere along the way, but the quality has declined drastically over the last 8-9 years. I am a licensed massage therapist with nearly 20 years of experience, so I do know the difference between proper bodywork and poor technique. In the early years, this place was a great find and very convenient to where I live. But over time the staff changed, and with that, so did the quality. After several disappointing sessions, I stopped coming. Every now and then I would give it another chance, hoping to have an experience like before--and every time I left frustrated, with no relief, and upset that I wasted both my time and money. Last night was the confirmation that this establishment has lost my business forever. The therapist who worked on me clearly did not know what she was doing. Her nails were too long, her touch was rough, and she repeatedly left the room during the session for no apparent reason. She only worked one side of my upper body, and when I politely asked her to address the other side she insisted she already had. After voicing my concerns, the massage did not improve--in fact, it felt like she became irritated and intentionally applied pressure in a way that caused pain, not relief. I woke up feeling significantly worse than when I walked in. This was NOT normal post-deep tissue soreness. I am now having to get acupuncture to reduce the neck inflammation she caused by massaging toward the cervical spine rather than away from it, as well as inflammation in my forearms and hands due to improper directional technique. These are basic fundamentals that any trained massage therapist should know. It's possible there are competent therapists here--but after my experiences, along with my husband's and a close friend's negative experiences over the years, I cannot recommend this establishment to anyone who actually understands or needs proper massage therapy. I'm not writing this to attack the business--this is constructive. If you want loyal, returning customers, then the therapists must be properly trained and evaluated. Not once in 13 years have I ever been asked about medical history, injuries, or allergies--basic questions expected in any professional massage setting to ensure client safety. I'm officially done with this establishment, and I hope this review encourages improvement for the sake of future clients.

I planned to mention this to Michael before the massage started, but he just got right to work. Without me even saying anything, he somehow zeroed in on the areas where I needed work! He spent some time on areas where I didn't think I needed work, but they were probably affecting the areas that I needed work on, so he covered all the bases. After the massage, I felt like a new person! I was able to look both ways without feeling any pain. It was great! The massage session was more like physical therapy than a typical "massage". If you want the type of massage where you get the warm fuzzies and just fall asleep, then this is probably not for you. The massage was not painful AT ALL and his pressure was perfect, but he does a lot of stretching techniques and asks you to do some breathing exercises while he works the muscles. So if you have any areas that bother you, this is definitely your guy.

He even translated the material in Spanish for the Spanish-speaking students. As for the school itself, the Director lady was very rude to two of my classmates when they went to pay for the course. They also don't help with job placement, they just tell you to apply on the company's website. Also the bathrooms are ALWAYS disgusting, no toilet paper, pee on the toilet and no soap. One time there was feces clogged in the toilet and no one bothered to fix it. Other than this, the course went well all thanks to our professor which is the only reason why I would recommend this school.
