I just love looking over the shelves and picking up something special from this full stocked pharmacy. Whenever she is in the shop everyone else that works there seems jumpy and the woman in question seems grumpy, barking orders and being a general bossy boots. Ugh, we've all had bosses like this and you can only hope that they choose not to come to work very often. I have argued with this particular woman on more than one occasion about supplying my medication in one go (rather than monthly doses) and as long as I sign the form it's legal so she should back the fuck off. Yes they may be open every day but I am BUSY and on more than one occasion have run out of things due to having a crazy schedule with no room for an extra errand that is so easily avoided. Apart from this one person it's a great place with nice helpful people who really go the extra mile, often putting items on order if they are out of stock or popping in a free gift for being a loyal customer. It does make me laugh (in a bitter cynical humourless way) that it's always management sabotaging these smaller businesses and forgetting that it's about customers not powertripping. Aside from the people, there's a good range of vitamins and the usual chemist goodies, including some really great gits. It certainly wasn't of acceptable quality, as it obviously didn't do what its supposed to do, not free of minor defects and not safe and durable. Customer service woefully POOR! The reason I have to lower the rating is more to do with product cost. I have been reviewing places and business' around Auckland for the past six weeks and have had the opportunity to compare some prices of products that I like to have in stock regularly, this includes the Braggs All Purpose Seasoning. Greenville Organics in Takapuna (the 'rich' end of town) sell it for $11.16, 473ml, Health 2000 in New Lynn sell it for $20, same size. What is going on guys? That is a huge price difference, one that can't be ignored. I should mention that the average I have seen it priced in smaller organic stores has been approx. $13.

They have all the usual range of pharmacy items and also stock a great cheap range of make-up, Vivalis, which is of great quality and not over-priced like its more well-known competitors. Before I headed off overseas, one of the ladies behind the counter was super helpful in putting together a travel first aid kit for me, stocking me up with all the things i could have possibly needed on my travels. They also have a loyalty card scheme which is points based, but if you forget your card no worries because you will be stored in the system. A great place to come with all of your puzzling medical questions and queries that you can't be bothered/ can't afford taking to a doctor - Elstree Pharmacy will sort ya out.

You'd be surprised how much time you can actually spend in a chemist though - they have photo developing and hats and health consultations and actually to be honest the main reason I always come here is to buy headbands for my little baby girl as they have so many cute ones! I've even managed to rack up a few frequent buyer points - who doesn't love a freebie now and then?!
