From the second you walk in, whether it's a 5:00 AM session or the very last hour before closing, you are greeted with such positive, high-energy attitudes by the front of house. It sets the perfect tone for every workout. The facility itself is incredibly clean, from the weight room to the locker rooms and showers. You can truly feel the pride the staff takes in maintaining this space. Beyond the equipment, the management is amazing. Meh. My best friend just joined this gym club and so she told me about it. My husband and I decided to come have a look at it on a Saturday mid morning/afternoon. When we drove up, we noticed that there is a Mobile car detailing business in the parking lot. It was actively working on two vehicles when we arrived. After we found a parking spot we headed inside. I noticed from the parking lot that they have their own café as well as a spa. This was really nice to see. When we came to the front desk, we were greeted by a lady named Geo. I asked her if we could get an interested new members tour and she said that they don't really do walk-ins. She was a 'Membership Relations Rep II' on her badge. So she said she was going to see if anybody was available to do a quick tour for us. There was no one available and so we were placed on an appointment list for Sunday at 2PM. After we experienced the unavailability of a quick tour by a membership relations representative, that was a message to us. Too bad that there are no walk-ins and no availability for interested new members on a Saturday mid morning. We sort of felt like they didn't need our business and we didn't make the tour appointment on Sunday at 2PM; the next day. The place seemed to be very lively and crowded and we noticed that there was a bar as well as a restaurant; they were showing FIFA games. We also noticed that they had a very packed pool area and somewhat of a waterpark in the back of the building. This place is really nice and so if you take your fitness and wellness, seriously, this is the place to be. read more

I like this gym since it is located so close to home and offers a great variety of classes. I did register mostly for the dance classes, but lately management has been taking away these classes since they don't fill up as much as the other classes. Very disappointing because they are not considering the people that we do like to dance. They are constantly moving around schedules, changing the classes and now dance classes go from one hour to 45 min. Yes, the gym is nice and it has resort vibe, but for me in where dance is important for my mental health and my daughter it is very disappointing and for the high membership they charge managment should actually hear our feedback. read more

3 month update : I appreciate the early morning classes very much . However below are a few items I would like to share . I've found the current class schedule to be a bit inconvenient. The first class starts at 5:15 AM, and the second class begins at 6:00 AM, which means I have to leave the first class 15 minutes early to secure a spot in the second class. I think it would be beneficial to open the gym at 4:30 AM and start classes at 5:00 AM, or move the second class to 6:15 AM. This would allow early risers like myself to attend two classes without feeling rushed. ‍ I appreciate recent barre schedule updates! ( 6AM barre) However, I think it would be awesome if SHRED and Max Out classes were added to the early morning schedule at least twice a week. This would be super helpful for members who can only attend classes during this time . I would be thrilled to see a 5:15 AM SHRED or MAX OUT class added to the schedule twice a week. I hope you'll consider this feedback and make the necessary adjustments to improve the overall experience for your members :) Shout out to Sheila and Yoli , two of the best Shred /Max out instructors I have met at this LT. Wow this is probably one of the nicest gyms I've seen! Note that I am not a member, I had a pickleball clinic here that also allowed me a guest pass for the day. Here are my impressions: Some of my friends are members and they have shared really good things about it so was glad to check it out. It's still pretty new so Google Maps didn't exactly give me the right directions and seems there is only one entrance into the parking lot. By the way the parking lot is huge so no problem finding a spot. Once you enter you know this is an upscale gym with sleek clean lines and of course all new equipment. I was super impressed by the lounge/work area combined with a bar and restaurant. I feel like you could literally stay here all day. The process for guests was fairly easy and quick, basically just filling out a waiver and you are off. Of course I explored and loved the large locker room and the complimentary amenities that they provide in the vanity area. Upstairs is where you find the typical gym equipment and studio rooms and not to mention massage chairs! If you head outside there is an impressive lap pool and outdoor pickleball courts, which was where I was headed for my clinic. As with everything else, the courts are new and has a nice seating area in the middle. The pickleball pro leading the clinic was very knowledgeable and explained things in a way you could really understand. Probably one of the better clinics I've attended. Lots of good play and practice, I only wish I could've had more time to use the pool and the massage chairs! read more

I was able to experience this as a guest. Suffice it to say, there's no other gym like this! It has everything you can imagine and more! I maximized my guest pass by going almost every day from Dec 23rd-28th. I loved the top notch, brand new gym equipment. The elliptical even has a charger for your phone! Even though it gets crowded, there's still enough equipment to get your workout done. I would like to have more ab equipment because it appeared there's only a few. They do have an ab dolly though. I was able to take two yoga classes, which were fantastic! I would have loved to try Zumba but I know that it books up quickly and there's no room for waitlist. I also loved the steam room, sauna, cold plunge and jacuzzi. There should be a sign for the shower because I didn't know they had one until someone actually used it. I also appreciated that they have thoughtful things in the women's shower - which were the swimsuit dryer, deodorant, lotion, and all the Kiehl's toiletries. The food and drinks at the cafe are quite pricey, so beware. Would I join as a member, not sure as the price point is quite high. It is pretty good for those who take classes separately as this membership includes a lot of the classes, gym and the amenities. The amenities are fantastic- from the full service salon, to the different types of pools, this gym really has it all. There is a restaurant inside that serves smoothies and hot meals, which we tried after last weekend's workout. The kitchen has a few kinks to iron out, but I have no doubt they will get that dialed in soon. We've also taken a few classes that have been awesome - from hinge and pull classes to full body CrossFit-style classes, they've each been great. The popular classes fill up quick, so make your reservation 7 days in advance. So far, there are plenty of machines but the weekends do get pretty crowded. But so far, we are loving this gym! read more

Life Time is hands down the nicest gym I've ever been to. It's modern and clearly high-end. That said, for what they charge, there are some really frustrating issues that should not be happening. First -- the morning sun. The sunlight blasts through the windows and completely blinds you while you're trying to work out. They were smart enough to tint some of the windows, but it still shines directly into your eyes. You shouldn't have to close your eyes mid-set just to be able to see. This is a basic design and comfort issue that needs fixing. Second -- the aqua massagers. The same people use them over and over again every single day and completely hog them. I've seen the same person on one when I start my workout and still there when I finish -- over an hour later. There's no consideration for anyone else. They need to enforce a clear time limit or post a sign stating one cycle per person so everyone has an opportunity to use them. They've been open a month, and I've only been able to use the aqua massagers once. Third -- the class scheduling is a joke. You log in at the exact second classes open online, and they're already at least halfway full within seconds. There's no realistic way that's happening organically. It strongly feels like spots are being held or pre-filled for certain people, because that's the only explanation for how more than half the slots disappear immediately. The biggest issue, though, is the entitlement. People put weights back wherever they feel like. Instead of being properly racked by 5s, 10s, 25s, 35s, 45s, etc., plates are stacked incorrectly, mixed together, and sprawled all over the floor. In the past month they've been open, I've seen one trainer put some weights away. That's it. I pay way too much for this membership to be dealing with a weight area that's a complete disaster. Life Time has incredible potential, but if they don't start enforcing basic gym etiquette and fixing these issues, I'm seriously considering going back to my former gym. read more

I was first introduced to Life Time Fitness by my sister, who is a functional medicine doctor in Missouri--and the gym there was absolutely breathtaking. I ended up joining the La Jolla location, which is beautiful in its own right, but after visiting Life Time Otay Ranch, I can confidently say... this place is on another level. Driving up for the first time, I literally looked to my left with the biggest smile on my face--like I had just arrived at Disneyland. I went when the gym was busy, but it never felt crowded (which says a lot). Everything flowed so smoothly. The class I took with Gaby was AMAZING--high energy, motivating, and welcoming. This gym truly has everything you could ever need, and it's such a diamond for the Otay Ranch community. Tour- Had a 1hr with Hector. Sweet kid who walked my brother and I through the facility. He made sure to ask questions about our interests and goals to cater the tour to us. My main draw to this gym was the Kids Academy since 24hr Fitness discontinued Kids Club. I'm yet to use it since my toddler is a shy kid but from what I've seen, it's clean and there are a variety of activities for different ages and interests. And there's Parent's Night Out?! Excuse me! How awesome is that. Kids have fun while the parents go out for 3hours. Classes- I was paying about $150/monthly for a gym with Spin/Yoga/Bootcamp. Life Time offers heated Yoga, Bootcamp style, Barre and Pilates (for extra $). It makes sense to me to pay more for the quality of the equipment and the facility offerings: a GIGANTIC pool, lap pool, reservable indoor and outdoor pickleball courts, on-site chiro, plunge pool, whirlpool, sauna, and steam room. Also hydro massage chairs, cryo chair, and hyperice and normatec equipment for recovery. I also never have to worry about bringing my lock, towel, shampoo/conditioner/soap, or lotion. And it's Kiehl's?! Uhm, HELLO?! The only other time a gym offered me complimentary Kiehl's was at Equinox. Workout equipment is brand new. I love that you can watch TV on each machine and they have a wireless charging pad for compatible devices. At the times I've been, the weight has been in order and clean. Never been a wait for any of the equipment. I used to go to 24hr Fitness too and the gym etiquette was lacking and I'd wait an hour for a squat rack just for all the weights to be everywhere. Fingers crossed that people will keep be more classy around here. Other stuff: there's a bar, a cafe, and little shop for supplements. Nice little one stop shop. I have been using the work area and so far there has always been a place to plug in. I also got a great 30min facial from Kim. She was so gentle and kind and left my face glowing. I really enjoy the facility overall. It is generally clean, the A/C works, sometimes the water fountains or the swimsuit dryer work but atleast they go back in service at some point, and there's a variety of stuff to do. It might not be worth it if you're only looking for weights and cardio alone though and don't utilize any of the other facilities they have. I go often enough that I can recognize the trainers or employees. I saw two employees training and wanted the equipment they were on after they were done. It was one of the trainers/employees was being trained by another. As soon as they were done, they didn't clean it. I don't care if you think you're clean/not sweaty, I don't know you and you should probably clean it when you're done. If it was any other gym goer, it probably wouldn't bother me as much. But TWO employees who actually work here? It was also kinda awkward cause I was nearby waiting and they just moved to the equipment next door so I'm confident they saw me wipe it down after them in order to use it. read more

There's just a lot to say, number one it's a really nice gym as far as the appearance goes, the second thing that I would like to point out is, although the facility is brand new it's very dirty what I mean by that you use the equipment and you'll sit there and find dust bunnies and hairs all over the equipment, I'm just saying when I was going in at 5:00am the over night crew forgot to clean. You hit the steam room and you'll find hair on the floor and sometimes others things as well. I just wished they were on top of all nice hype talk that was given during our tour. I ended up canceling my membership after I reported finding mold In the steam room all I saw which terrified me. They covered it up with caulking. I guess you can say I was expecting more out of this place especially if you're paying 200-240$ a month. read more

I'll start off by saying this gym is worth the price, if you're using it correctly. If you take the classes multiple times a week it's already worth it because classes else where are the same price. I love the pool especially at night because it's heated! Sometimes is it colder and sometimes it's super hot so it's a surprise every time. The gym is very clean I notice there is always someone cleaning the locker rooms over even mopping of vacuuming the floors in the main gym. Back to the classes. I love taking the barre classes however I've noticed classes being taken away. It's hard to get a spot because there is constantly 15+ people on the waiting list. They took away my favorite class on Thursday nights :( There's plenty of yoga classes that are always empty but yogas not my thing. I just wish there were more barre classes because those seem to be the most popular and for good reason all the instructors are amazing people and know how to make you sweat. Every employee I've interacted with are such sweet people. I have had issues with two people in the front at nights. Very rude and aggressive for no reason when all I did was ask a question about a missing item. Over all I like this gym I've been a member for 2 months now and will most likely keep it for a while. read more

This is what the people needed. I've been hoping and praying for an upscale gym option in the south county, and finally, my prayers have been answered. From the kids club to the sauna and steam room, to the clean and well organized weights and machines. This place has it all. The pool looks gorgeous. The place is full of clean towels. The atmosphere is nothing like 24 hour fitness or LA fitness. In fact, the entire staff from 24 hour fitness on Amena ct. all left to work there, and they are awesome!
