Waiting area at the spa is always so relaxing
    Charito Q.

I cannot stop telling people about Lifetime. This place is amazing. It is definitely not just a GYM it's a lifestyle. Do not let the full parking lot make you think it's too crowded in there. Lifetime is huge and has something for everyone. You never come here feeling like there's no space for you or your waiting for a machine to use. From the moment you walk in you are greeted by their friendly and welcoming staff. I swear on Saturday mornings you hear them saying good morning and telling those leaving to have a great day. They keep this gym pretty clean which is always important. I love that they have their life cafe. My favorite is the chimichuri bowl if I need a bite to eat but if I'm picking up a coffee my go to is the iced pistachio shaken coffee. There is ample seating at the cafe and a dedicated work area as well. There's adequate lighting with access to electrical outlets for your laptops or phones. And don't get me started about their spa. With our busy lives who does not love that you can get your massage, waxing, facials, nails, and hair all In one place. The waiting area for your massage, wax, or facial is relaxing and clean. Carina, Eddie, Alex, Emily are always professional and friendly. They do a great job. I'm looking forward to booking more services. No running around to different places. Get all of it done here. Prices are definitely comparable to outside services so why not get it done at Lifetime. If you have little kids this is the gym for you. They have a great kids club with activities the kids can join such as traverse wall, arts and crafts, sports and relays. My Kids never want to leave. There is also a family pool and an adult swim area. The kids love the slide at the family pool. The pool and seating area Are clean and their are lifeguard present. There are also cabanas that can be rented for an additional cost. Our kids take swimming lessons here as well. Ian is informative and professional. Jasmine is patient and is a great coach. We have seen such a quick improvement in his confidence in the water. Lifetime also has family shower rooms. This is so convenient because my husband and I can tag team getting the kids showered and changed after the pool. You can even dry their clothes as well. There is a a separate men's and women bathroom/shower room. All showers have Kiels shampoo, conditioner, body wash. Towels are also provided. There are blow dryers to use, make up remover and mouthwash. The adult bathrooms have the steam room, sauna and cold plunge. Upstairs are all the gym equipment, work out rooms for classes, pickleball courts, massage chairs, and stretch/chiropractic clinic. There are so many classes to choose from. I must say I end every work out with a hydro massage. The app also provides a lot of additional information and self help guides. Booking a service or class or event is so easy through the app. Outside also has pickleball courts and if you need your car washed and detailed they provide that as well for additional cost. There is also an outdoor and indoor bar. So many family events like movie night at the pool or club events such as adult swim, sound healing, yoga and more. Some weekends we spend hours here. There is no place like Lifetime. Your membership also include 4 monthly guest passes to share. You need to check it out to believe it. Call the front desk and schedule a tour you won't regret it.

Meh. My best friend just joined this gym club and so she told me about it. My husband and I decided to come have a look at it on a Saturday mid morning/afternoon. When we drove up, we noticed that there is a Mobile car detailing business in the parking lot. It was actively working on two vehicles when we arrived. After we found a parking spot we headed inside. I noticed from the parking lot that they have their own café as well as a spa. This was really nice to see. When we came to the front desk, we were greeted by a lady named Geo. I asked her if we could get an interested new members tour and she said that they don't really do walk-ins. She was a 'Membership Relations Rep II' on her badge. So she said she was going to see if anybody was available to do a quick tour for us. There was no one available and so we were placed on an appointment list for Sunday at 2PM. After we experienced the unavailability of a quick tour by a membership relations representative, that was a message to us. Too bad that there are no walk-ins and no availability for interested new members on a Saturday mid morning. We sort of felt like they didn't need our business and we didn't make the tour appointment on Sunday at 2PM; the next day. The place seemed to be very lively and crowded and we noticed that there was a bar as well as a restaurant; they were showing FIFA games. We also noticed that they had a very packed pool area and somewhat of a waterpark in the back of the building. This place is really nice and so if you take your fitness and wellness, seriously, this is the place to be.

My husband and I really enjoy this gym! We have been members since day one and truly enjoy most of what they have to offer. We do not have kids so we don't use the kids club , the food in the cafe is always yummy but the wait time can be a little long at times. Most of the class instructors are wonderful, a few are not our cup of tea but that's okay. The front desk staff is ALWAYS very welcoming and friendly which is much appreciated. Parking is never an issue which is great , but lots of members tend to speed around the parking lot which is annoying.. I also had a no so great experience in the salon getting my hair done, but will say that the salon manager Terri , or Terry? (Not sure how she spells it) is wonderful at her job. While we know the class schedule is always changing , some of the very popular classes could definitely be offered more often with more time availability, but again not to say that they maybe aren't already working on that. My only other gripe is some of the other members tend to be pretty unaware at times , on phones during classes like yoga, stepping on people's yoga mats, walking in very late or leaving very early... all of those also affect the others who are taking the class, but the gym can't control that

I like this gym since it is located so close to home and offers a great variety of classes. I did register mostly for the dance classes, but lately management has been taking away these classes since they don't fill up as much as the other classes. Very disappointing because they are not considering the people that we do like to dance. They are constantly moving around schedules, changing the classes and now dance classes go from one hour to 45 min. Yes, the gym is nice and it has resort vibe, but for me in where dance is important for my mental health and my daughter it is very disappointing and for the high membership they charge managment should actually hear our feedback.

3 month update : I appreciate the early morning classes very much . However below are a few items I would like to share . I've found the current class schedule to be a bit inconvenient. The first class starts at 5:15 AM, and the second class begins at 6:00 AM, which means I have to leave the first class 15 minutes early to secure a spot in the second class. I think it would be beneficial to open the gym at 4:30 AM and start classes at 5:00 AM, or move the second class to 6:15 AM. This would allow early risers like myself to attend two classes without feeling rushed. ‍ I appreciate recent barre schedule updates! ( 6AM barre) However, I think it would be awesome if SHRED and Max Out classes were added to the early morning schedule at least twice a week. This would be super helpful for members who can only attend classes during this time . I would be thrilled to see a 5:15 AM SHRED or MAX OUT class added to the schedule twice a week. I hope you'll consider this feedback and make the necessary adjustments to improve the overall experience for your members :) Shout out to Sheila and Yoli , two of the best Shred /Max out instructors I have met at this LT. Wonderful Yoga instructors : Marisol, Paulina ,Albina , Claire and Jenn . Alpha instructors: shout out to all - all are Great !! Personal trainer: James - thank you for helping me correct my form and for teaching me new exercises .1:1 sessions with James are very helpful. Highly recommended .

Wow this is probably one of the nicest gyms I've seen! Note that I am not a member, I had a pickleball clinic here that also allowed me a guest pass for the day. Here are my impressions: Some of my friends are members and they have shared really good things about it so was glad to check it out. It's still pretty new so Google Maps didn't exactly give me the right directions and seems there is only one entrance into the parking lot. By the way the parking lot is huge so no problem finding a spot. Once you enter you know this is an upscale gym with sleek clean lines and of course all new equipment. I was super impressed by the lounge/work area combined with a bar and restaurant. I feel like you could literally stay here all day. The process for guests was fairly easy and quick, basically just filling out a waiver and you are off. Of course I explored and loved the large locker room and the complimentary amenities that they provide in the vanity area. Upstairs is where you find the typical gym equipment and studio rooms and not to mention massage chairs! If you head outside there is an impressive lap pool and outdoor pickleball courts, which was where I was headed for my clinic. As with everything else, the courts are new and has a nice seating area in the middle. The pickleball pro leading the clinic was very knowledgeable and explained things in a way you could really understand. Probably one of the better clinics I've attended. Lots of good play and practice, I only wish I could've had more time to use the pool and the massage chairs!

I was able to experience this as a guest. Suffice it to say, there's no other gym like this! It has everything you can imagine and more! I maximized my guest pass by going almost every day from Dec 23rd-28th. I loved the top notch, brand new gym equipment. The elliptical even has a charger for your phone! Even though it gets crowded, there's still enough equipment to get your workout done. I would like to have more ab equipment because it appeared there's only a few. They do have an ab dolly though. I was able to take two yoga classes, which were fantastic! I would have loved to try Zumba but I know that it books up quickly and there's no room for waitlist. I also loved the steam room, sauna, cold plunge and jacuzzi. There should be a sign for the shower because I didn't know they had one until someone actually used it. I also appreciated that they have thoughtful things in the women's shower - which were the swimsuit dryer, deodorant, lotion, and all the Kiehl's toiletries. The food and drinks at the cafe are quite pricey, so beware. Would I join as a member, not sure as the price point is quite high. It is pretty good for those who take classes separately as this membership includes a lot of the classes, gym and the amenities. Also the kids area makes it worth the cost for some members as well.

The amenities are fantastic- from the full service salon, to the different types of pools, this gym really has it all. There is a restaurant inside that serves smoothies and hot meals, which we tried after last weekend's workout. The kitchen has a few kinks to iron out, but I have no doubt they will get that dialed in soon. We've also taken a few classes that have been awesome - from hinge and pull classes to full body CrossFit-style classes, they've each been great. The popular classes fill up quick, so make your reservation 7 days in advance. So far, there are plenty of machines but the weekends do get pretty crowded. But so far, we are loving this gym!

Life Time is hands down the nicest gym I've ever been to. It's modern and clearly high-end. That said, for what they charge, there are some really frustrating issues that should not be happening. First -- the morning sun. The sunlight blasts through the windows and completely blinds you while you're trying to work out. They were smart enough to tint some of the windows, but it still shines directly into your eyes. You shouldn't have to close your eyes mid-set just to be able to see. This is a basic design and comfort issue that needs fixing. Second -- the aqua massagers. The same people use them over and over again every single day and completely hog them. I've seen the same person on one when I start my workout and still there when I finish -- over an hour later. There's no consideration for anyone else. They need to enforce a clear time limit or post a sign stating one cycle per person so everyone has an opportunity to use them. They've been open a month, and I've only been able to use the aqua massagers once. Third -- the class scheduling is a joke. You log in at the exact second classes open online, and they're already at least halfway full within seconds. There's no realistic way that's happening organically. It strongly feels like spots are being held or pre-filled for certain people, because that's the only explanation for how more than half the slots disappear immediately. The biggest issue, though, is the entitlement. People put weights back wherever they feel like. Instead of being properly racked by 5s, 10s, 25s, 35s, 45s, etc., plates are stacked incorrectly, mixed together, and sprawled all over the floor. In the past month they've been open, I've seen one trainer put some weights away. That's it. I pay way too much for this membership to be dealing with a weight area that's a complete disaster. Life Time has incredible potential, but if they don't start enforcing basic gym etiquette and fixing these issues, I'm seriously considering going back to my former gym.

FINALLY an abductor & adductor machine combined!!!

I was first introduced to Life Time Fitness by my sister, who is a functional medicine doctor in Missouri--and the gym there was absolutely breathtaking. I ended up joining the La Jolla location, which is beautiful in its own right, but after visiting Life Time Otay Ranch, I can confidently say... this place is on another level. Driving up for the first time, I literally looked to my left with the biggest smile on my face--like I had just arrived at Disneyland. I went when the gym was busy, but it never felt crowded (which says a lot). Everything flowed so smoothly. The class I took with Gaby was AMAZING--high energy, motivating, and welcoming. This gym truly has everything you could ever need, and it's such a diamond for the Otay Ranch community. Huge shoutout to: * Lauren at La Jolla * Stefanie & Gaby at Otay Ranch * Jackson, Andrew, Lee, and the entire facilities team!!! The gym is absolutely spotless, beautifully designed, and clearly run by people who genuinely care. Life Time Otay Ranch isn't just a gym--it's an experience. So grateful to have this here!

Ask the Community - Life Time

Are the reformer Pilates classes included in the membership? If not, how much do the classes cost and are there packages/additional memberships for Pilates?

No. Pilates is not included in the membership unfortunately. I don't know the exact price but I think they are more expensive than going to a specialized Pilates Studio.

What time is their earliest class?

Chula Vista Yoga Center had classes that fit well for my schedule while I was in town, so I called it my home studio for the weekend. Signing up for the classes and checking in were a breeze. The studio was gorgeous, and I loved the inspiring wall murals and paintings inside the space. If I was local, I would certainly attend the monthly offerings including workshops, sound healing events, etc. I enjoyed the two classes I was able to take. Both classes were heated, and the teachers were awesome. For my first class I took Andre's Ashtanga class on Thursday at 10:30am. I used to practice Ashtanga regularly, so taking the class was like riding a bike. Andre modified the primary sequence, so I thought it was very accessible to yogis of all levels. The other class I was able to take over the weekend was Jackie's vinyasa flow at 8am on Saturday. She had such a creative, challenging flow and introduced an asana I've never done before. Lastly, customer service was excellent. The two front desk receptionist who assisted me on both days were very friendly and helpful.

At the beginning of my bikram practice it was more about the physical healing, and that was the only part I understood about the practice, stretching, working out, contractions, losing weight, that was it.
