This review is about a specific instructor and this location, in general. I was very disappointed to show up for my "registered" for class with Bethany K. to find she gave my spot away to someone "waitlisted" within four minutes of the class starting! To be respectful of those whom registered, it would be courteous and mindful for her to have waitlisted guests warm up on other treadmills to allow a couple extra minutes for registered ones when parking is bad, etc. (e.g. after the seven minute warmup). the gym itself is wonderful and most instructors are more mindful and gracious. Those at the front always greet kindly and the location has some nice amenities. It is my favorite lifetime venue for its more intimate size. read more

This place is slowly being taken over by seniors, which is probably because The Marsh shut its doors. If you want a leisurely swim in the salt pool, don't even try because of the endless senior pool classes. I sometimes try to dart in between classes and get in there before the leering old men start their swim shift. I try to go as early as possible before they get up, or as late as possible after their dinner. This is a small facility, but not quite diamond level. It needs to be updated and the locker rooms need to be cleaned more often. The people that work at this Lifetime are fantastic, friendly and helpful. read more

I love lifetime fitness. I had membership with them for like 3 years. Great staff. Really knowledgeable and friendly coaches. Amazing classes: Cycling, Swimming, Tennis Alpha etc, the only bad thing all their classes end by 5-6pm, so it is very hard for me to make it. They should really consider doing smth for later in the day 8pm or so. So ppl like me who work until 5-6 pm would be able to make it. read more

This is a great club with great instructors! Bruce is one of the best group fitness instructors you are going to find in the city. If you get the chance- check out one of his classes and you will not be disappointed! I wish they put an outdoor pool in this club- a major mistake on their part. It's Minnetonka and people here love outdoor pools!! I also wish they had more parking reserved for families. I have been a Lifetime member as long as they have existed in the Twin Cities. I was a convert of the Northwest Athletic Clubs. I was a gold member until I moved within walking distance of this Lifetime. I was incredibly hesitant to increase my monthly family membership dues by approximately +$100 because of the proximity of this location, but broke down because of just that. This is one of the smaller Lifetimes but has everything you need and more (like a spa, hair salon, cafe). In the summer they have Tonka Tuesdays where they have cocktails, music and outdoor workouts in the parking lot (who doesn't love a good parking lot party?). They have top notch group fitness classes/instructors and seem like their personal trainers keep very busy at this location. I can't give it a 5-star experience because it's not entirely family friendly (they have a childcare center which is exceptional with our little guy, but kids aren't welcome any where other than the cafe. Their indoor pool is adult only). The demographic is older (I am not an ageist but it'd be refreshing to see more people in their 20s - 30s that work out there), and the majority of their group fitness classes are from 8-11:30 a.m. on the weekdays. read more

This is a very nice club. It has high-quality, newer machines. It is a "diamond-level" club meaning that it is significantly more money than its other LTF counterparts. The monthly cost can really add up over time, but the parking is usually not too bad, the machines are usually available and the clientele is upper-bracket for a gymnasium. Heaven on Earth... it really does exist! Going to Lifetime Fitness is as fundamental to my days as eating and sleeping. It centers me, provides a community of like-minded people, and has every resource that I need in order to live a healthy life. It is important to note that each Lifetime fitness has its own unique vibe and I appreciate each one for what they are good for. This review, however, is specifically about the Lifetime Lifespa in Minnetonka. An Onyx Level facility (meaning it is quite pricey), this club is very small and caters to the wealthier demographic of the Lake Minnetonka Area. Nothing bad about this - however, it is important to note that the majority of crowd tends to be either parents/working professionals or high school students who live in the area. Like many things in life, you absolutely get what you pay for with this membership - well worth the extra money in my opinion! When I walk into this Lifetime, I immediately feel a sense of relaxation and shelter from the realities of the high-paced world just steps outside the front door. There are waterfalls, plants, interesting rocks, delicious smells, and calming music everywhere you go. It is truely a spa retreat experience every single time. The staff is professional, spa services are phenomenal, and the fitness equipment is always clean and organized. Althought it is a smaller club, it has every machine you could possibly need for your workout, and then some! The group fitness classes at the Minnetonka LifeSpa are also phenomenal. My favorite high-paced classes are a Monday night Cardio Kickboxing and Saturday morning MIXX taught by Katie. The real treat to my weekend comes on Sunday nights, when I go to a CandleLight Yoga flow class taught by the beautifully talented Emilee Celeste. A long-time Yogi and graduate of the Jonny Kest yoga teacher training program, Emilee leads a practice that emphasizes paying attention to how your body feels with a clear mind and open heart. The absolute perfect way to center your mind and body before the start of a work week, this hour long class is dimly lit only by candles in a warm studio. Mmm, Mmm. I plan my Sundays around going to this class. All in all, Minnetonka Lifetime Lifespa is one of my favorite things in life. read more

I've been a member of lifetime ever since I've started working out. And before that, I've spent countless hours at Lifetime daycares while my mom works out. So now, I'm a member at this lifetime, and even take classes with my mom! Like mother, like daughter, right? Thanks mom for the fitness lifestyle influence :) Anyway, this club is a diamond level club, and yes it's expensive (100+). It's a smaller lifetime than usual, which makes it more exclusive and you get to know the people working out there with you. There are enough machines, equipment, and they recently added on a training room with squat racks and more equipment. There's also 2 smaller studios, and the added room can be like a studio since trainers often teach class in there as well. The decor is super nice with stone walls, a waterfall on the main wall, a spa, hair salon and a cafe by the entrance. Pros: The decor is beautiful. The staff is always friendly and the trainers are awesome and they always say hi! They're so welcoming and help you with anything you need. Classes are awesome here and they really push me to become more fit. I love how this club has events like "Tonka Tuesdays" where they set up food, music and fun workout classes! It's super fun in the summer. My ABSOLUTE FAVORITE thing about this club is that it's not too crowded. There's nothing I hate more than people breathing on your neck to use the machines after you, and it's never like that here! Dang Gina, let me work out in peace!!! My second favorite thing about this club are the locker rooms. They have a lot of space with everything you need to get ready, great showers, a sauna, hot tub, and my necessity: a steam room! The perfect way to end a work out. I love you, steam room. Cons: There's no outdoor pool, but I don't mind as much since Lake Minnetonka is right there for the summer. The age of this club is higher than usual, and since I'm in my 20s I would love to take classes with younger people as well! Also, some of the training classes are even extra money which I'm confused about, but all of the trainers are nice and let me try it out a couple times to see how I like it! I end up taking the classes that are included though. To add on, classes here are awesome! I mentioned Teri in my previous Bloomington North Lifetime review (love her! You all know how I feel!) and she also teaches a class at Minnetonka as well! So of course I take that. Any classes with Bruce are awesome. He's hilarious, and I find myself heavily breathing from laughing/dying from the workout. A great distraction. I loved Baron who taught yoga sculpt and others, but he just left, and his class was taken over by Katie who is also super good! You really can't go wrong with classes here. Overall, if you're really into classes, not into crowded gyms, and are super into working out, the extra charge is worth it for this club. I recommend it! read more

This is another Life Time Onyx club...one of the few IMO that actually deserve the Onyx designation. The club is very small but super-swanky. There's a fairly large area for cardio equipment and a reasonably-sized space for machines. The free weight area is tiny though and there is only 1 squat rack, 1 or 2 bench press stations, etc. Nice Spinning room and a large aerobics room. The lap pool, while a regulation 25m long is only two narrow lanes wide. Tough to share if it gets busy...though nice if you're a triathlete because you get a lot of waves generated. There is a separate therapy/water aerobic pool and a good-sized hot tub. There are also hot tubs in each locker room. I've never been to the spa area but it looks nice. There's also a cafe that makes pretty decent fare, though there are very good restaurants nearby. read more

I've visited a few (Savage, Lakeville and Minnetonka) Life Spas located in Lifetime Fitness Clubs. I'm a fan - one stop shop - work out + get a massage, get a wax + lay out by the pool, get a personal trainer + mani/pedi, etc... Recently I've gotten HOOKED to the Minnetonka Life Spa. This is an Onyx Lifetime Fitness Club, the highest level of Lifetime Clubs. When you walk in you can just feel the difference, high class feel. You don't have to be an Onyx member let alone a Lifetime Fitness member to visit the Life Spa. I am a loyal client of Phani's - the resident Esthetician. She works wonders when and where you need it! Her room has a calm feel with relaxing music and scents. Phani is great at keeping you engaged during your visit so your mind is at ease and focus is taken off of anything distracting. Phani makes even the most uncomfortable (bikini wax) to comfortable (facials) services feel like a wonderful spa visit. I definitely would recommend her services to anyone! read more

When I'm in Minnesota I workout at the Lifetime Fitness in Plymouth. It's clean, well lit, the employees are nice and the actual gym is amazing. I don't find it hard to get machines and there are tv's everywhere. Plus, the membership fee's (for actual members, they nail visitors like me) are cheap. My husband works out at Equinox in San Mateo, CA and it's $125ish a month just for him. I think both of my parents together pay less than that. I, however, being the money conscious woman that I am pay $49 a year at 24 Hour Fitness. And as an added bonus at 24 HF it's so filthy that my immune system is insane, I never get sick! read more

This is my favorite spa in the Twin Cities. The setting is beautiful and use of the gym and its luxurious locker rooms (saunas and very sen whirlpool area) really compliment the experience. I had a facial with Marina today and not only was the experience relaxing and wonderful, I also learned so much about my skin and taking my skincare to the next level. So rude!!!!!!! I came there with an Onyx membership... because I was in the area and meeting my father-in-law for lunch. The front desk workers knew I was trying to get to a class and they made me fill out forms. They could've just taken my card and have me do the paperwork after. My husband & I LOVE Lifetime Fitness, primarily St. Louis Park. We've been to Minnetonka and Plymouth also. They are all "Minnesota Clean", although they did have some big lapses for a time. We cancelled our membership (Onyx) because they don't have a reasonable membership option for out of towners like us. read more

I've never been to a Lifetime Fitness before until today. I came here on a guess pass while visiting family and I gotta say wow. Lifetime is definitely what I would equate to an Equinox in Manhattan. Basically a high end gym, everything was clean, top of the line treadmills, and full service everything including small items in the bathroom like shaving cream, lotion, soap, etc. Came here early in the morning and they had a jam packed spin session along with yoga. Thankfully the machines were pretty much wide open. I'm not sure what kind of monthly charge they have for Lifetime but it sure is nice! read more

The club concept is good, but the execution is not and they don't seem to understand the demographic they are appealing to. The club has really improved over the past few years that I have been there. The trainers try to help you, are friendly. The classes are fun, especially the spin cycle classes. The place feels cleaner. The folks at the front desk are friendlier. They also do more social activities so you can interact. Am impressed with the changes that have taken place. read more
