The Tillges representative at the…read moreSaint Paul Health Partners Specialty building was able to fit me in the same day as my podiatrist appointment. The measurements for the orthotics were done on the representative's phone in 3D and uploaded to the manufacturer right away. The back office staff at Tillges worked with my insurance to get orthotics and diabetic shoes covered for me and called to set up an appointment back at the Specialty Center again in two weeks. The staff said, "We will call you if we need to cancel the appointment because of a delay." I showed up to the agreed upon appointment and the appointment had been canceled without informing me of the cancellation. I arranged a second appointment a week later to pick up both shoes and orthotics one week later to allow the necessary time. I called the main office the day before to confirm the appointment and shoes/orthotics will be there for me but the representative only had the orthotics but not shoes! So a third appointment is scheduled for me to pick up the shoes. The customer care for Tillges has much to be desired. I recommend that everyone stay well clear of Tillges for their needs. This company has been the worst service I have experienced in many years of medical appointments.

I had the pleasure of speaking with Brad Nelson, who was extremely thorough in explaining their process and why their pricing was much less than my Doctor's Office. It was immediately apparent to me that he not only knew what he was talking about, but had a real passion for his work. I immediately booked an appointment. Upon arriving today, I was greeted by an exceedingly friendly and accommodating staff, who showed me to my seat and offered me coffee. Within moments, Mr. Nelson came out, introduced himself, and explained the process. After some friendly conversation, Brad molded the orthotics to my feet and went to work. He made sure that I didn't leave until my orthotics were perfect. The entire process was very casual and comfortable. I left feeling extremely fortunate. Though White Bear Lake was a bit of a drive for me, it was absolutely worth it, and am so glad I just stumbled upon them on Google. I came to this conclusion because 1) their web site is a single page in the St. Croix Ortho web site, and 2) their office is in the same building as the St. Croix Ortho clinic in Stillwater. So it's not surprise that when my doc said I needed to get a post-op knee brace before my surgery that he recommended The Brace Place. It was only a few days (maybe a week) before my surgery, so I didn't have time to shop around and had no idea where to start. I feel like he should have disclosed the face that they owned it. With that said, however, I'm pretty happy with the shop. There is one main guy that runs the place and he usually has an assistant in the office with him. I've been there three or four different times and each time there is a different assistant. But all of them knew their stuff. They were able to answer my questions, were very friendly, and never talked down to me. The main guy is a bit grumpy when you talk to him over the phone, but when you get him talking about what he really knows (braces), he gets friendlier. I wanted to go in to get an adjustment on a brace and didn't want to make an official appointment because I knew it would only take a few minutes. When I called, he complained how busy he was, but he would see if he could help. It was around the Holidays, so he didn't have help and when I got there, I had to wait 15 minutes before he showed up. But he was very helpful once I saw him and got the brace adjusted. It turned out I was putting it on wrong, but he wasn't condescending or impatient about it. Overall, I would recommend The Brace Place for any of your medical bracing needs. You can get basic braces for limbs and joints off the Internet for cheaper, but if you need a "professional" one for surgery or active sports, I wouldn't shy away from recommending them.

I went from not being able to go shopping or walking any more than three minutes at a time to strength training, walking everywhere that I want to go and shopping till I drop. Because of thei change in my mobility, I've lost 80 pounds. And I am able to enjoy my life again. Dr. Hansen was very patient and kind and everybody at Summit orthopedics has been so nice and so helpful.. I owe them so much changing my life with my knee replacements. I had no issues before during or after both knee replacements. I recommend summit orthopedics to anyone that asks. I feel like I'm a great self advocate for my health and care and they listen.. A few days earlier I was stepping up onto a curb and heard a pop in the back of my knee. I was able to walk to where I was going, however after that, it was very painful. After 3 days of icing and tylenol, it wasn't getting much better. Time to have a professional take a look. I considered Urgent Care. Looking around at the different locations, some had x-ray and MRI and some did not. Then I thought about making an appointment with an orthopedist. It was then that I noticed that there was an orthopedic urgent care. I elected to visit the Summit Orthopedics in Woodbury. We arrived when they opened and registered. We were seen within 10 minutes. After taking some pictures of my knee, I met with a gentleman named Larry who examined my knee. He explained and showed us while there is no damage, there is arthritis. I was able to get an injection into my knee which wasn't as bad as I expected. This helped a lot with the pain. He then advised lots of ice and time. Really appreciate the information and care I received at Summit Orthopedics in Woodbury.

Within 10 minutes of arriving at home I tripped on carpeting while wearing the new shoes. I subsequently removed the rubber sole toe piece and will see if that helps in walking on carpeting. I do have a slight "drop" foot on my left foot, and I hope removing that rubber piece will help with tripping on carpeting. I was however disappointed in seeing the shoes had a rubber sole, I thought that Travis had understood my issue with rubber soles, and I thought we were going to stay away from rubber soles. I will wear the new shoes tomorrow to see if removing that toe piece will solve the problem or not. I will return to this site to relay the results.
