My mother-in-law has been here for 22 days now. We have no diagnosis for her, no treatment plan for her, and no aftercare plan for her. Her treatment team has only recommended that she stay longer, and is requesting money for her to stay longer. We have barely heard from her treatment team. Releases are signed, they are legally able to communicate with us, this is just simply neglect to do so. I cannot stress enough how unprofessional and unethical this treatment has shown to be. We are now looking at 8 more days of treatment for her and of course we do not plan on extending her stay because Life Skills has shown us ZERO in terms of her progress in treatment and professionalism. I have previously worked in two drug and alcohol treatment centers, I know very well how treatment works, this is beyond unprofessional and disappointing. I cannot stress enough how much I do not recommend this place for treatment of your loved ones. It is genuinely scary and concerning their lack of care and professionalism. read more

I completed treatment at Lifeskills in Delray Beach on July 1, 2025. I'm in a much better place and am going to continue to work to be the best version of myself. My therapist, Kristen, was a huge part of this and deserves a lot of credit for her role. Kristen is the absolute BEST therapist I have encountered in and out of Lifeskills. absolutely terrible experience here, staff were incompetent and unhelpful. The campus is uncomfortable.

They have a beautiful facility and the care is actually really good. The weekend outings nd beach trips are nice. The place is very expensive! I was lucky my grandparents paid for me to be there . But there is some negatives. One they put me back on suboxone after I have been clean from it, I wish they never did that (I'm still on it years later). Second my roommate stole a bunch of stuff from me and was caught red handed and the staff did absolutely nothing. This infuriated me. And third it seems like they really only care about money most of all. Which is a shame but most rehabs are like that. Oh also if you are conservative beware coming here I'm all about lgbt rights but they put transgender people into houses with the opposite sex. For example a "trans woman" who dressed and acted more like a boy than anything, I don't think he was even trans more just gender confused.. and he was in a house full of women some of which had trauma. I don't think this is acceptable. But that's how they do things. I do think Ostin the counselor was amazing, don't know if hes still there but he was great. He helped me a lot. If you or your loved one has Borderline Personality disorder please do not consider Life Skills. They do not give patients with this diagnosis proper care. Humiliation, gas lighting, and isolation are huge aspects of "treatment" at life skills. Most patients spend their time here either resigned to the horrors or plotting their escape. Staff respond to genuine grievances with "Just stay longer! If you want to leave, that means the treatment hasn't started working yet." Proper treatment and finding relief from BPD exists, but it does not happen at Life Skills. This place only cares about money, especially at the expense of the patients. read more

I'm a very educated person with a history of mental health issues such as bi-polar & Borderline personality disorder. My therapist & I looked into a few facilities to help me get stable on some medication & Lifeskills appeared to be a good fit. I'm telling you from the bottom of my heart, this place is all about money. I could go on & on but long story short, please do not go here. Yes the marketing is amazing but I can tell you from personal experience that Lifeskills is far far far from what it appears. This place should be shut down. The entire staff are true professionals that epitomize empathy and altruism. There skill set is unparalleled in the field, from the front desk to techs and staff... and I now feel I am better person (as does my loving family) and member of society thanks to the time I have spent at Lifeskills!!! They really listen (which they are amazing at) but also teaching me the skills to utilize in my life is in a league of its own.. Unlike many many places they see I Holy don't just care about a paycheck or billing my insurance. This place has a genuine interest and really helps. The one thing I needed when checking myself into a facility was to know that if it didn't meet my expectations, or my needs, then I would be able to check myself out. The ability to do this was promised to me before I arrived, but that was a big lie. After just a few days there, I was surprised at the low level of comfort in such an expensive place. But I knew that if this place could help me then that's no reason to give it all up and leave. I wanted to give it a real chance. I was told that after one week of settling in, I would be able to use the phone, but after my first week I was put on "restriction" because I hadn't attended every hour of every group each day. Patients who get put on restriction will lose their phone "privileges" as if being able to call your family is a privilege and not a basic right. After I realized that this place would be treating me like a child, I knew it definitely wasn't a good fit for me. I couldn't be in the care of people who had no basic respect for me. The client handbook stated that if I wished to leave "AMA" or against medical advice, that I had the right to do so and I would need to speak to my assigned therapist to start the 72-hour discharge process. When I spoke to my therapist, Sandy, she told me I don't choose when I can leave. I told her I want to start the process of leaving AMA. She acted like she didn't know what that was, and she acted as if she wasn't legally required to discharge me if I wished to end my treatment there. Unless I was a danger to myself or others, they were legally required to discharge me, and Sandy obviously knew this. She insisted I should just walk off the property if I wanted to leave, "but you won't have your phone or your wallet". My guess is that was her way of trying to manipulate me into doing something that would give her the ability to say that I was a danger to myself. If I went off into the streets with no phone or money and no where to go, that would technically be putting myself in danger. She knew if she got me to do that then she'd legally be able to keep me there against my will. She held me against my will anyways, but I guess she was trying to solidify her power. I realized I was trapped. And I had no way of contacting anyone. I was stuck in this place for four long weeks, feeling alone, mistreated, and honestly scared. My parents had called my therapist several times after they hadn't heard from me. They would demand to speak to me but Sandy explained to them that if I'm not sitting in group therapy from 10am-4:00pm that there would be consequences for me and that's just how they do things there. I finally got a chance to speak to my parents when I had a virtual family therapy session. I tried to tell them about how I felt in this place, but my family therapist, Esther, would be talking over me, dismissing me, and attempting to change the subject. It was almost funny to me how unprofessional and desperate her behavior was. Like it made me think 'is this seriously happening right now?' Sandy would continue speaking to my parents who were incredibly unhappy with the phone situation, and they also now knew that I was not happy in this place. They wanted me out of there too. Sandy went so far as to try to convince them that I was suicidal, and very unwell. She told them it would be at least 3 months before I could leave. Luckily I'm extremely close with my parents, and they know me better than anyone, so when Sandy tried to make it seem like I was at extremely high risk for suicide, they knew she was lying. My parents got help because they didn't know how to get me out. They eventually found out what to do and who to call. They got me discharged. There's a lot more I'd like to share but there's not enough space. It's sad how screwed up this experience was. My insurance covered me so it makes sense that they'd fabricate a story to keep me there as long as they can. Also worth mentioning that the therapy and groups were really awful. I did end up attending most of the groups because I was told the consequences would keep getting worse if I wasn't trying to at least be at most of them. Extremely boring to say the least. Really taught me nothing I didn't already know. My friend there described being in the groups as "having teeth pulled at the dentist" and calling them "kindergarten level." The psychologist would see me once a week for 2 to 3 minutes. He didn't care to take his time to ask me questions about myself or try to get a better understanding of me and what I need. If my experience doesn't tell you that this place only cares about money, I don't know what else to say. Mental health is a serious topic and it deeply saddens me that there are people who would exploit your struggles, taking whatever they can from you, and not only offering no help, but damaging you in the process. read more

Seven years have passed since I was diagnosed with bipolar disease. It was a very frightening time for me. My first memory of Lifeskills was the brightly colored townhouses, a beautiful blue pool, the rustling bamboo trees, and the standard poodle therapy dog who greeted me. I immediately knew I was in a trusted environment and was confident that the team of psychologists, therapists and psychiatrists would pool their resources and make me well. I spent three months at Lifeskills and then transferred to Osceola House in Delray Beach for outpatient care. Delray beach is an eclectic part of the world that whispers tranquility. The residence is a short walk to quaint shops, restaurants, a marketplace, and the beach. The little Jitney bus took us to the education campus for classes. We all lived in a group setting, had nightly discussion groups and group meals. I use the techniques and skills that I learned at Lifeskills and Osceola House on a daily basis, I faithfully take my medication and I'm proud to say that I've been stable for seven years. I stayed at Osceola House in Delray Beach for approximately 1.5 months December 2022-February 2023. My individual therapist Selene and my family therapist, Hannah, did their jobs professionally and with care and compassion, so my review is not an attack on them NOR other staff and personnel that made positive contributions to my mental health recovery journey. HOWEVER-- the manager of behavioral techs at Osceola staff, Ted, his staff, and the admins on site at PHP in Delray do NOT maintain the communication that is essential for tenants paying ***$5,400.00 IN HOUSING FEES PER MONTH THAT *NO* INSURANCE COVERS AS A PROPER WARNING TO ALL CONSIDERING DROPPING HARD EARNED MONEY THERE***which has disturbingly and grotesquely resulted in a friend of mine who I helped finance an easy-to-use Smart Phone to help her communicate with loved ones, as she suffers from trauma-induced dyslexia and traumatic brain injury, her therapist Rachel (who I would also catch skimming through her cell phone during patients' emotional trauma processing time, brazenly, with the phone light just shining up her face in hypocrisy with consideration for denying her OWN patient rights to communicating with a device that meets her needs in spite of this patient and many others actually paying the costs that fund her paycheck and allow her job to exist!!!. I left calls and calls for months and was told by countless representatives that MIGUEL from Lifeskills would call me back, but this many months later, Miguel still has not penciled this in as a priority, and said patient is still denied rights to accessing a phone that belongs to her. This is just one standing example of issues involving medication errors, not expediting SSRI refills for patients despite the very real and documented evidence of Sudden Serotonin Discontinuation Syndrome. read more

My son arrived at Lifeskills South Florida after over a year of unsuccessful attempts to get him professional help for severe substance abuse and resulting psychosis. His life was unraveling in front of us and we were helpless and hopeless. Like most patients at Lifeskills, he is a young adult male whose life was hjacked my heavy use of marijuana. I looked throughout the entire country for the best young adult dual diagnosis program that have a lot of experience with substance induced psychosis and am so grateful the road led us to LifeSkills. My son is very intelligent, strong willed, and stubborn, which makes forming a therapeutic alliance challenging but vital to recovery. Here is where Jamia Wilson, his primary therapist at the PHP level, stepped in. Jamia is professional, compassionate and and goes above and beyond to meet her patients where they are at but also challenges them. She is firm and direct but works collaboratively with patients. Although his lack of insight into both his substance abuse and mental health challenges presented like a brick wall in the beginning, Jamia, with her unique approach of CBT and Motivational Interviewing approach, successfully chipped away at his protective exterior and made major headway with him gaining awareness of what led to where he land and what he needs to do to move forward living a good life. My husband and I felt at the height of his addiction and psychosis, that recovery may not happen. With sobriety and the right clinical team behind him, he is a 180 from when he was admitted. She often time used humor to soften him and it was like bingo for him opening up. Our son has improved more than what we could have imagined a year ago. I also want to add Jamia was incredible communicating with us. We had weekly, at times, twice weekly updates and we were kept in the loop. Lifeskills does not offer Case Managers but Jamia is also as close as possible to one. She coordinates between the multiple clinical and medical staff members and forms a cohesive team. read more

Amazing place, my daughter life changed for ever. I can't thank enough her therapist, Dr. Despina Kartif; she was able to have an individual approach and helped my daughter in many ways. I felt that I have a true advocate for my daughter, who has her interests as the first priority. Dr. Despina, went above and behind her duty as a therapist: after whole day of sessions, she will observed my daughter outside, to see how she interacted with pears, visited her at her room, when she was sick and much more. She also will speak with me anytime I have questions and responded my email late in the night. Another gem at Lifeskills: the family therapist, Dr. Mirella Ezeta - she was a true friend to our family and help tremendously with the family dynamics. Anyone who are looking for caring place for their children, make sure to speak with admission from Lifeskills. I had wonderful person from the admission, Lara Eisenberg. From the first time she called me, and after many calls later, Lara helped me and reassured my daughter to navigate the complicate processes of mental health. I wouldn't send my dog here if I had one. They only care about making a profit. Once you no longer do that for them, they discharge you. Housing is below standards. Treatment is all the same. No individualization. Overcrowded so makes it impossible to receive clinical care that's focused on you. My suggestion is to stay away from this place. read more

Honestly was the worst place iv ever been too!! If i could give it a Negative star i would! First off My "bed room" was a twin bed on a small loft and you had no DOOR just a divider. Absolutely awful. Florida life skills says they are duel diagnosis but honestly they know absolutely nothing about mental health or how to treat humans with decency. If anything this place made my anxiety and depression so much worse. They staff was incredibly rude .They don't have any understanding of how depressed and anxiety can constrict you of doing things and then you get punished for it. No understanding or help is given. I Didn't even feel like i was treated like a person there, just a another number of there clientele. They only care about money not their Patients!! read more

When I close my eyes and visualize hell, Lifeskills inpatient residential is what I see. I would rather have my fingers cut off one at a time and chew glass than ever step foot in this place again. This place traumatized me. The therapists are TRASH. This place is the worst!! I came here for PTSD and I left with even MORE trauma. This place only cares about money, it's just a business! They keep people for as long as they can drain your pockets. They fool whoever you have on your release of information and convince them to place a Marchman Act over you, which is a legal document that legally requires the patient to stay in treatment for MONTHS. I came here truly believing I would stay 90 days. It became 8 months of pure torture, and I was legally obligated to stay throughout the whole time because of the Marchman Act. Everything on the website is NOT TRUE. If you are looking for addiction treatment, this place is a JOKE FOR THAT! They offer 0 services for addiction, yet they lie and say they do. This place ruined my life and took advantage of my insurance. So many patients that were placed here came out of the program so much worse. The place mentally deteriorated us. The staff are random people who are hired to watch over patients with NO EXPERIENCE! They are absolutely awful. They keep patients for as long as they can until they run out of money. They keep people who are under guardianship for years at a time, and leave them to rot away in this hell hole. TRASH. TRASH. TRASH. Never send your kid here! They will hate you forever for it. Therapy includes sitting in a room with other clients for hours until each person has been bashed in emotionally by everyone else (they won't let you leave until you participate in this). After many days of research and multiple phone calls with admission's counselor, we sent our 25 yr old daughter to Lifeskills for treatment of her Borderline Personality Disorder. We chose Lifeskills because they have 5 therapists who are intensively trained in DBT, which is the gold standard for treating Borderline. They assigned our daughter to a primary therapist who was NOT trained in DBT, and I complained and voiced our concern. They assured me she was with a great therapist. After a week in isolation (due to Covid) our daughter went to the residential facility. She NEVER actually met with the psychiatrist but had brief conversations with him. In her 13 days at Lifeskills, she had 2 group therapy sessions, zero family sessions and 1 with her primary Therapist only because she walked into her office and asked to speak to her. She left the facility twice in 48 hours. The miscommunication between staff on weekends was horrific and lead to her finally begging us to come home because she wasn't been seen or treated. She was very motivated to work and get help and this place was pathetic in doing so. They might treat other disorders better but please don't send a family member with personality type disorders to Lifeskills. Professionalism and skill of staff is quite poor in a very difficult time! read more

This facility is a sham. The staff is not informed and despite their impressive education backgrounds, they misdiagnosed my nephew who came to Lifeskills in acute schizophrenic state. They are irresponsible and condescending. Unbeknownst to them, I have a background in mental health and I was appalled when I came to visit and discovered that my nephew was not being oppositional and difficult, but was suffering from delusions and was subsequently successfully diagnosed with schizophrenia and treated at a different facility. The psychologist who treated him at Lifeskills was under the impression that dellusions can be treated with behavior therapy. I was floored. Either this man barely passed the coursework, or he just stopped caring about the patient/client and their ultimate well being. Lifeskills is not equiped to house those with serious mental health condition such as schizophrenia. However, we were never told that this was not an appropriate placement. Instead, every communication was about how difficult and oppositional my nephew was. They also refused to change his meds despite the fact that the medication he was on was clearly ineffective. NEWSFLASH to the staff of Lifeskills, when he was treated with appropriate medication, his delusions went away and he is now able to hold down 2 jobs while attending a university. He plans to study psychology in hopes of helping those so misunderstood by the general public and, it seems, by the mental health community as well. It is a shame that these "doctors and professionals" are allowed to practice without accountability. They inflict a lot of damage to their patient's and the patient's families. read more

Well here i am 57 in lifeskills and been out of lifeskills for 14 days, I feel amazing. 97 days clean after 14 years of drug abuse thats right i said a long hard striaght 14 years. When i arrived at lifeskills i was very scared emotional and feared the unknown. I never put myself in the unknown and i was doing it by being there. I started having the normal flashbacks in week 2 of being clean and having ptsd for sexual trauma makes it worse and did make it worse. I never had these like this before because i always masked my emotions with drugs. I come from a broken disfunctional family. Alot of abuse all types. I endured them all so 14 years of drug abuse 25 years of trauma. Pretty much a lost hope when it came to beimg helped or saved. Thats what i was told. Until i landed here. All the way from maine. Krista valz was my thearpist she was so amazing. Then theres: Jonathan Closner, LMHC, MFT, NCC, M.Div, Ed.S Director of Clinical Services He was unknown to me personally until we had a great chat and he actually cared and showed me that he truly did. He was so personable and easy to open up to. Would love to have more open talks with him if given the chance i got alot out of that one talk outside the fish bowl. Amazing thanks johnathan. The staff well i cant lie there are a few that need to go and then u have the few that are the best. Alicia, dania, johnathon, vicki, and andrea are the ones that i took to and grew on they are and were always there. Oh almost. Forgot Harry. I would recomend the rehab yes but there are things that need to be changed. More truama work ptsd for sure. More education for transgender. One building just for the transgender. Also better orginazation not so clutter fuc***. More time on the phone to get set up for discharge not having to feel helpless when it comes time to leave and nothing has been set up and u have no where to go especially when u are a vet and they dont pay for half way houses. Your left to do it alone. Hire another case manager Ried is one guy for 42 or more people sometimes thats nuts. Not fair to him or clients. Also vets should also be aloud over night passes not excluded because the va pays for the treatment. Over all the rehab was ok. read more
